Default So, i decided not to resub

Instead of posting a whiny "i quit" thread filled with ultimatums, complaints, and opinions, i figured i'd leave with a thread of suggestions instead.

Trion, when i'm questing, and my warfront queue pops, i kill the mob i'm engaged with, and move somewhere safe. I click the queue, play my warfront, and arbitrarily, for no obvious reason, half the time it transports me to the location i was at when the queue popped, instead of where i clicked accept. This is not only annoying, but usually fatal, especially at lower levels. Please fix this.

I understand the standards are Slayer, Gather, Transport, and Tag, but can we get some new quest types please? Even just a handful peppered into each zone would break up the monotony. When you run 11 quests in a row to kill x mob 10 times, or kill x mob 10 times and collect what they drop, it gets boring. When players are bored, they stop caring about the quests. If players aren't engaged, it doesn't matter to them. Then they come to the forums and make 632 topics about grind time. There's a quest in Stonefield i believe, where you mind control trolls to attack elites so you can sneak by and interact with several landscape items. It was awesome. It was also one of the few quests from leveling i actually remember. Unique quests are good.

On the same topic, please try to make the quests a bit more logical in regard to travel. Far too often when i talk to an NPC, i basically picture them saying "hey, remember that place you just ran to 11 seconds ago, packed with densely concentrated mobs? Go back there and do this other thing in that exact same spot." There are so many areas in each zone that are completely dead, while quests send you to very small sections over and over again.

With PVP, again you have the standards: king of the hill, capture the flag, deathmatch, control. The standards don't have to be the rule though. Less linear instanced pvp isn't a bad thing. More pve in pvp will only make the matches more fun, and far more interesting. Vehicles in pvp are tried and true because they're fun. Actual objectives, rather than "pick this up, hold it" aren't a bad thing. Escort quests in pvp, seiges, npcs who actually matter, and combining the standards in one game are all viable ways to make pvp more fun, more entertaining, and more enjoyable.

Gear escalation is what i see as the biggest problem Rift has right now. Anything that significantly widens the gap between the majority and the few is never good. The thing i loved most about Rift when i first started playing in beta was the small difference between levels. A level 15 could kill a level 20. A level 30 could kill a level 35. Once you hit 50 though, there's such a HUGE difference in gear that it quickly becomes impossible to kill your opponent. Stats that make players harder to kill in pvp are meant to keep matches from running in the 2 second mark. They're meant to keep players alive a bit longer so warfronts aren't "die, run back, die, run back, repeat". The stats have turned into a monster though. Now they're making players impossible to kill unless you're as equally geared, and even then it sometimes doesn't matter. They've gone from normalizing combat to making it blatantly lopsided. Simply put, it's not fun anymore.

From playing all 4 classes, i can definitely say they need some serious reworking. Glass cannons are supposed to be cannons. You have an amazing system of soul combination but it's wasted because too many souls are simply not viable for most content. You're not going to see an assassin or a marksman in a raid. Sab and bard are basically the only rogue souls suitable for endgame content, and that's a shame. The other souls simply don't have enough damage to be worthwhile. That MAY be ok, if they had better utility. If you were to give rogues more utility functions like cc and debuffs, other specs would again be viable and they'd be allowed into the content. Pigeonholing each class into 1-2 builds for raids, or even for pvp, destroys the soul system you worked so hard to build in the first place.

The graphics of gear is less than stellar. The wardrobe function is an excellent idea, but it's so simple and basic at the moment. Please add bleach to the dye vendor, to remove all color from the objects. Then players can dye it whatever color they choose to using dyes. At the moment, having to shade over the original color of an item results in ugly equipment that typically looks worse then it did before it was dyed. Make the items an ugly white if you want, so white dye isn't made useless, and give apoths some new colors to create, and i think you'll find a lot of your player base is much happier with their equipment, even if it is still all the same models underneath. Better yet, give armorsmiths a new trade they can use for income, of reworking existing armor into different models. This way the ugly shoulders with awesome stats you just picked up can be reworked to look like the awesome shoulders you just replaced.

I'm sure i'll post more things i've been thinking of over the last few weeks that led to my decision not to play any more. I thing Rift really has a lot of potential. It just seems like all of the good ideas were put in by people who lost heart for the project, and the potential was bypassed in order to get a product out quickly instead.

All you have to do is fill out the exit poll. And you can write down reason going. I quit thread will only get ignored.

A suggestion thread where other players can agree or disagree is something that will actually get viewed. Exit polls are never taken seriously by any company. They have 5 people locked in cages somewhere who scan then briefly for 3.1 seconds looking for specific keywords then moving on to the next document.
