    Default The Duelist

    I always loved the single blade weilding swordsmen in books, stories, and games compared to the ones using a large two hander or duel-weilding a pair of weapons. Mostly they always seemed to be more of a skill over brute strength and speed type of fighter that uses their accuracy to enfeeble as well as take down their opponents. Saddly since two blades are better then one in most mmos, mostly from the fact that you gain twice the stats as well as strike more offen with the pair of weapons to a single weapon this type of fighter has been long forgotten and ditched really. The issue lies in how much you gain from using that second weapon, and that really in most games you have a fairly weak penetaly for using two weapons, which is pretty stupid it takes lot of skill as well as training to weild two blades at once, although also you lose accuracy as well as some of the power of your strikes since your having to divide your attention between the blades.

    Now for the Duelist it should be a light-mid range armored fighter that is not so much pigeoned holed into using a single weapon completely, as it is given good and solid reasons to use this style of fighting. Through using this style of utilizing, as well as maximizing the strengths and also the capabilities of their chosen weapon the Duelist would gain many bonuses that wouldl be lost or even over-looked by another fighter.

    Some examples of these types of talents, abilities that a duelist could have would be as fallows;

    Uncanny accuraccy: This talent could convert some of their hit rrating directly into attack power strengthening their attacks, as they land suprizingly accurate strikes against vital spots or organs on a target.

    Duelist mentality: This talent or passive ability could increase the stats as well as the damage that a single one handed weapon that a Duelist weilds by 175ish%, while the Duelist is not duel weilding. This talent or ability would allow the biggest issue to a character which only uses a single weapon to fight to be weaken enouph to make it viable possiblily to be used without being severly weakened for doing it.

    Debilitating wounds.: This talent would make it that the Duelist has a chance to leave a wound which would weaken a target ability to fight as well as concentrate in combat, the penality would be somethign along the lines of a stacking debyff to the primary stats of a target.

    Blade expertese: THis talent woud give the Duelist a damage bonus or atack power bonus to their attacks with physical damaging abilities with one handed weapons.

    One of the ideas for a great finisher would be somethign like blade mirage, where the Duelist thrusts rapidly in a flurry at the oppenent, making them unable to move or act during the first part of the finisher. THis would be somethign like a channeled finsiher with a dazzing effect or stun effect tagged onto it. The other idea for a finsiher would be a Coup-da-gra that is used only as a litaral finisher for the target, while it is low on life. I would Make it that as the Duelist gets more and more hit rating his/her deadlyness increases as they can land more and more pin point attack s on vital points and organs of their oppnent I would even say having a chargable strike that once you hit it the ability charges gaining power as you wait to release it, since it would be like a fencer or other fighter bidding their time looking for an opening.

    i like it, ive always loved just wielding one wepon without it looking stupid like most chars holding 2h weps are :P (Imo they need to look at aaron from finalfantasy X and see how he holds his >.>)

    or instead/aswell as this have a class that specificly is designed into fist wepons/claws
    {WinterXI >>>> 13th Edition}
