    Default LFG cross server

Maybe this has already been said or covered somewhere but the LFG ( looking for group) option should be made cross server as in that "other game" it is basically useless when you wait for hours and never get a group for a dungeon not to mention frustrating.

I have a feeling I will reply to these a lot. Copy and paste of my reply.

Me, my entire guild, and everyone I've spoken two save a few people have said they do NOT want cross-shard LFD.

If you've ever been into WF, you see the type of things you will run into cross-shard. Needing on everything, no coordination, no typing except to bash, no requing together, no nothing.

When you make cross-shard LFD, you create an atmosphere that says, 'These people are even more of strangers than the strangers on your server, why talk to them? Why be nice? Why care?'

People have this false idea that if you put more people into the pool of people to choose from, you suddenly create more healers, tanks, or support. You don't. In all MMOs, tanks/healers/support are harder to find, and creating a larger pool of DPS does nothing to help the problem.

Another part of this is that raiding in this game is...well...an appropriate difficulty. Making friends and having a large pool of same-shard friends/connections is a really good thing. By becoming friends with people, even people from other guilds, you give yourself a better chance at sucessful raiding and shard progression. When you make it incredibly hard to randomly connect with players in situations you can actually gauge and understand their playstyle and skill, you end up slowly dumbing down you game, slowly creating a (excuse the pun) rift between players and community...

Cross-shard LFD is a bad idea because a lot of us know what it does to a game. Plenty of games lasted upwards of 10 years with no cross realm/server/shard/whatever with an incredible community and everyone you talk to from those games will happily remember the community and the friendships they made doing random instances/bosses/etc together with people on the same realm...and in that one game we don't like to mention, all you ever hear is all the bad things cross-server LFD brought.

Bottom line, cross-shard will not make queues faster on the scale people want it to, and all it will do is start the game down a path of dumbing down and catering to morons. Not casuals, morons.

    Same as KnirpsLyn...

Here I place my obligatory rejection of a cross-server LFD tool. The reasons why I am against it have been stated before in the 100 or so other threads like this one so I see no need to reiterate. Just stop making new threads for this topic. It is not necessary.

Yeah well evrybody I've spoke said it should be.

Its not that common place as what you make out, people still socialise in cross realm groups, and not every group has a ****** that needs on everything.

3 People have this false idea that if you put more people into the pool of people to choose from, you suddenly create more healers, tanks, or support. You don't. In all MMOs, tanks/healers/support are harder to find, and creating a larger pool of DPS does nothing to help the problem

You dont create more tanks/ healers / support or dps but you create a bigger pool of people who want to do a random dungeon and not wait six hours, if you want to join a group with all people of your server then you have that option by typeing it into global dont you.

A cross server LFG does'nt stop you doing any of that.

LOL your opinion based on the five people you know who dont want it, you can always not join a random LFG , but if the option was there I'm sure you would use it .

It will make it faster its proven in the "other" game

I think this issue will be moot after 1.3. If people choose to stay on an extremely dead server.....well that is their fault, not Trion's.

I highly doubt that the migration system will make this issue moot regardless.. I would still like to see a Cross Shard LFG system implemented because its good in most ways then it is bad. it does create a larger pool of all classes into the search for a que therefor lessening the wait times and with that you can see by talking to others on other shards whether or not it would be worth moving to a different server or making friends and moving to their server

now yes as stated in a previous post there will be those people consider moronic for always needing and greeding but at the same time there are still players out there that wont do that and will pass on things they deem they wont benefit by having or make no sense if their class cant use it.

and all i have seen is 2 people rejecting this idea. every one i have discussed this with have stated it would be a nice implementation to the game but then you will always have those who are biased based on their experience with "WoW" and discourage it just because they think it will cause more negative effects than positive.

    You have some issues...

Learn to break a quote, it was very hard to read your other post.

Maybe I should have been more specific in that it was my opinion and experience but you decided to dwell and nitpick at the amount of people I may or may not have known who may or may not have said this or that, while boasting a straight-up imaginary number for your 'sources'.

And then you resort to insults? What does that do? I gave reasons, explainations, and a thought-out post...you give trolling spam meant to insult and degrade the entire discussion... I think it's pretty clear just from the way you (and other cross-shard promoters) act why people don't want cross-shard LFD.

    Anyway...

Trion skipped the years and years of 'hardship' many other games have gone through, including WoW, by going straight to a real LFD tool that has party vote kicks, randoms, rewards, and teleporting to the instance, while being same-shard. The reason why it was soooooooooooooooo slow in WoW was because for, what, 5 years? We had to go to the summoning stone and use that outdated LFD UI (or the old global or...whatever happened before that, snail mail I suppose. :P) where all it did was put you in a special LFG channel and you still had to walk there, still had to make your own groups, still had to wait, and were on the same server.

Nothing was 'proven' in WoW with cross-realm LFD except that anonymous anonimity creates even bigger anonasses than regular levels of anonymous, and that Blizzard liked the children in the crowd who wanted free shineys more than the people who wanted to work for them, and applied that theory to the entire game within a year.

If the system was ever released, it would likely be all or nothing. You either cross-shard or you don't. I doubt they'd make a check box for same shard and one for cross-shard...if they did, I would always choose same shard. I like it when people have at least that little imaginary amount of responsibility and reputation to uphold. I like meeting people I can talk to, I can hang out with, I can do other things than one dungeon in a life-time with. Maybe that's just me, but I never thought MMOs meant ChatRoulette with loot.

Imo, we all need to wait until 1.3 and see how the servers settle back down before we start crying for cross-shard dummyville. Hopefully, people will manage to merge together, and not all swap away from each other, or Trion will allow transfers from specific realms to specific realms to try and pool people back together.

A dead realm is still a dead, pointless realm even with cross-shard LFD. They don't have cross-shard raiding, guilds, AHs, or anything else...so what does being able to do an instance every 3 hours instead of 4 do for you if you can't do anything else on your shard? You seem to have missed, or not even cared about, anything to do with community, real population, or the game outside LFD that I mentioned in my post.

*i deleted what i believe i had no input towards*

Im agreeing with you on the waiting for and after 1.3 to see if any change does happen but i know your post was towards the main topic started but i do take offence to the insulting of other promoters and saying that we will cause the progress of dummying a game.. every game has its own moronic population and for starters Trion could have lessened the amount of servers they actually started with sense none of the populations from what i have noticed when i check the shard list are ever over medium population. i for one am on a medium populated server and its still difficult to find a group of people regardless of screaming in global or asking guild mates there are players that stick strictly to guild and that makes it even harder to find a group and then if you do find a group you have those players that are already on that level of moronic ideas and behavior that complain and ***** about doing the same instance over and over again.

but again i do take offence for the insult towards all promoters when i never dismissed your post on there are negative effects but there are positive one also.. and my post was thought out so you grouped me in with "a certain type of person" that you had no right placing me in with.

again i do admit there are negative things and positive things and your correct if your on a dead server you have nothing you can do. but think about it.. the population of this game on all shards really isnt big enough to have as many shards(servers) as are put out. in admittance the population is still growing because it is a relatively new game but all games start off slow and there for sense we are paying to play there are those of us who will listen to reasoning and logical explanations for discouraging our suggestion and possibly try to see from those who dont see the way we do and then there are those who think with no logic on either end.

The migration system will help with population but at the same time it will act in a negative way also for those shards(servers) that already have a low population will lessen in numbers and make it even harder to find the given group you need or players.

So honestly imo Trion started the game with more shards(servers) than needed due to them thinking it would take off and have an outstanding population to begin with.

    <sigh>

Such a PC world we live in...

I'm sorry Dirodel, I think we all understand that some players are just bad apples and don't speak for everyone...but really, if you bit into a good apple and an apple filled with maggots, rot, and mold, are you going to remember that or the good apple more?

It's a generalization and an opinion, I meant no offense specifically towards you and the fact that you could make that post shows you got a brain in you.

    We good?

I vote for cross-shard. Selfish morons will say it isn't needed, but that's only because they don't endure lengthy queue times.

Seriously, wait in a 4 hr queue every day then tell me you don't want cross-shard.

I am promoter also but the same time you need to think of long term efffects and thats what those who are non supporters do they think of the long term effects.. New players will have no knowledge of the game's areas all they will know is the LFG and the Warfront system. I agree sitting in a queue for 3 to 4 hours is a bit insane and can be annoying and frustrating. but there is no sense in calling those who dont support selfish morons. everyone has there own way of thinking. I say just wait a little while after the release of 1.3 and then we will find out if it is still a "needed" system being that the migration system will be implemented after the 22nd.
