    Default Two Simple Balance Recommendations

    1. Split PvE and PvP apart, such that what my attack does to an NPC is different against a player for balancing purposes between two fundamentally different game aspects.

    2. Get rid of Valor or make it only apply to Warfronts.

Congratulations, Trion, you've just hammered the metagame headache of balance with a ten ton Tylenol and ensured high-end open world PvP, especially on PvP servers, is never a simple matter of ganking people in their PvE gear while you're wearing 500k worth of favor. Valor, or "Player Mitigation", is a horrible idea for a PvE game with open world PvP.

It's high time you stopped ducttaping over the name "Azeroth" and writing "Telara" over top of it with magic marker. Make these two simple changes and suddenly balancing becomes less of smashing your head into a brick wall and more into a pile of playful, sharp clawed kittens.

Trying to split the game in two is the source behind all grief that PvPers and PvEers give each other.

You are both playing the SAME game. The system should incorporate both sides, not divide them.

This will never be attainable until such a combat system comes out in which all abilities are equally valid against all forms of encounters. In a gear-based progression, GCD ability based combat, raid-focused PvE endgame, and instanced PvP, both sides will forever be in conflict. We have builds for PvE that suck, but if they were buffed their already strong PvP counterparts would become insanely OP.

They NEED to be separated. The grief comes from the fact that they aren't. Every single soul and combination therein (within reason, like not speccing water damage talents when I use fire primarily, or taking kiting abilities when I attack in melee) should be comparably valid in both PvE and PvP. This is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve in such a combat system as Rift's without splitting the impact of each ability between its NPC effect and its PC effect.
