If you chose to name your guild after a group that is about as wow-famous as a group can get, then when they come to your server then you SHOULD lose the name. They shouldn't disband your guild though, they should change the name and allow you to choose another.


Goon Squad though....seriously.....That is the guild name you are complaining about losing?

Those guys have put years of work into creating, publishing and maintaining that (virtual) image. That guild name is known across the country, and I think that they have a right to it. If they were moving around constantly, then you could argue against this being done multiple times, but a single move because of server pop is understandable.

Are you just really in love with the idea of constantly explaining to people that "we aren't THAT Goon Squad"? Is that how you meet women?

Seriously, I still love some of their videos from 4 years ago. Bringing Jaena to ogrimmar. The 1-minute wintergrasp win. Those guys are mmo legends.

Wake up, this not fracking WoW. they should name their guild any way they want to, unless is offensive.
They are paying customers , they have the right to keep their names.
For situations like this there are pieces of code that prevent 2 guild with the same name on the save server.

I work in this industry and seeing something like this makes me sick. I hope Trion sorts this out. That GM should be unemployed... period.

We could pull the incident reports out of our logs. They state that the GM knowingly disbanded the guild. Another GM accusing us that we had to have disbanded the guild because they don't do that. And another saying to stop opening tickets because the matter is finalized. I'm not sure how we get the customer support logs but he stated that he looked in the logs and saw that we formed the guild within the first 40 minutes of the game going live.

I am not sure what you deem is actual proof though I guess we have to screen shot it.

SS all them GM comment and post em here.. If its all true then they/Trion should be held accountable and this should be fixed for you.. If not you and your 5 mates should get a free lifetime play card...

Just have the online support team change your guild name back to whatever it was and add a title in front of it so it won't match the other guild. Something like " The famed [insert guild name]" or anything flashy enough.

It doesn't matter if the other guild had 10000 players and you have 1. You had created the guild name first on the server. They came to your server later and totally screwed you over.

What you fail to understand is that the name is not wow-specific and that it is the name of a fairly-well-known organization. Are you arguing that I should be able to name my guild NAACP, PETA or The National Organization of Women?

There is probably something in teh TOS that covers the co-opting of names of notable groups. They aren't celebrities, but they are known in mmo circles.

If you look into other mmo you will see that their are 1001 other guilds with the name or at least a fracking ton of them in say the armory. Or was last I checked. Some of them are no longer showing due to the cata failure and people leaving the game.

Not to mention they universally suck at pvp.

I think this whole thing was staged by Goons for publicity and as a cry for attention.
