Having had Guild Halls in EQ2 (and even back in the EQ1 days), I'd prefer they were never added to Rift.

The actual cities became ghost towns once Guild Halls were added. It was already somewhat bad with housing in, as people would just hang out in their homes between activities, but it got worse with GHs added.

I like the feel of Meridian. There are people running around doing random things, there are duels taking place in the open stone area, it just feels like a living city. Qeynos and Freeport used to feel that way, until people fled into the closed halls.

If there is ANYTHING I can say WoW did REALLY right, it was the fact that the major cities had players running around them. It gave that real living feeling to it, rather that just a pretty set of NPCs.

I must agree. While it was always gfay for us (Povar), I've always enjoyed having everyone centralized in one area in between doing things.

All of the above being true. There are reasons to have bases for guilds. At the very least a guild BANK must be added in.

Crafting is going to be a logistical nightmare at the upper levels. Speaking as a player doing a lot of it you'll need a lot of inventory space to handle what you're making not to mention the output of the items. It's even more important when its clear that it'll compete with drops head to head. And in some circumstances beat them. Having the additional inventory space is critical when you get into the upper levels of crafting and you're making items/weapons for your guildmates.

No guild banks in this game? That is almost a requirement for a guild

Guild halls I can understand not having but guild banks?

To be honest, why have individual instanced guild halls for guilds when Meridian or other big cities could hold a Guild Hall for all guilds with vendors and what not, like a big Bazaar where guild rewards could be bought, crafting utilities in one place where as crafting skills could be learned from NPCs in other parts of the cities in their own stores.

It would encourage guilds to socialise with other guilds too... maybe when guilds reach a certain level they can form an alliance for PvP or Raids in future... Guild Calendars linking up for specific events n stuff or even have guild invites sent out for raids...

Not worried about Guild Halls, but Guild Banks. I was really surprised that they were not there!

I played EQ for years before they had guild halls, and took a few years break. When I went back, I was astonished, and not in a good way, with all you could do in a guild hall, and felt it was all way over the top. Convenient, yes, but it seemed way too much. On the other hand, in EQ2, where they were added fairly early, I came to think of them as a necessity. Bottom line, I think, is if they are going to have them, they need to be sooner rather than later, or people will come to think of them as gimping the overall experience.

I agree that we need guild banks. Moods already did say above that a dev mentioned they are going to be working on getting them in game.

I know our crafters really realy on the storage.

Everyone seems to be ignoring one simple fact. Guild Banks WILL be added, Trion already confirmed this.

I havent even tried the player banks yet. I also think that more places need bank and mail access in game. I think Wow initially had that problem too. Oh my character is still very low leveled

    No
Too many mailboxes, banks, etc take away from the feel of the game. We're playing in a world with no reliable mail or financial system. Sure, you can say 'magic' gets it done, but that's only a good excuse for the basics. Even instant in-game mail irks me a bit, because while it's nice to have it as instant, it still kind of takes away from the whole 'massive game world' thing
    This is Telara, not NYC
