Default Question about trying to catch up

Hi. I haven't really played for a couple of years. I was wondering if someone could tell me what a new player would need to purchase (expansions, etc) in order to obtain current max lvl.

All expansions are free, there is no need to buy anything to reach max. level or do all endgame content.

If you want to spend money, Ascended Essentials Pack (or missing Soul Packs) and Patron time are your best bet.

You don't have to buy soul packs to play rogue and mage in their most preferred raiding specs which is why they are the best option for new players. Arguably they are the best options. Period. Since rogue brings a ton of good synergy for other roles and the best dps and mage the best support with tons of good synergy for AE healing with no purchase of other roles needed. They are both super fun classes to play as well with great versatility and utility. Their soul packs are actually worth investing into eventually but other classes like cleric have forced investments just for 1 legendary and to play some psuedo/support you need 2 soul pack which is a selfless spec that makes others classes play better while you are stuck on cleanse duty for the most part. Cleric also has the worse dps and scaling and synergy and worse planar fragment make up and much more dependencies on eternal. Warrior is great too but raiders always want a warrior that can heal which require soul pack. Primalist is pay to play and their playstyle isn't as enjoyable. They have a water down soul tree which makes them have less utility access and Trion did a lot to ruin good synergy with the constant nerfs early on in the expansion so they do feel sort of one dimensional. They have good tanking, great dps and psuedo/support with good dps though so a better choice if you want to have access to different playstyles. You have to pay to play that class though.

It's been a while. Which mage and rogue specs are the best?

If you haven't played in a couple of years, nothing has changed.

Best mage specs (DPS+Supp) to be found in Bamu's sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=851657820

What do you wanna play as rogue? DPS, Tank, Supp, Suppheals? Guides forum is a good place to start -> http://forums.riftgame.com/game-disc.../rogue-guides/
The compendium is still decently up to date, apart from the newest DPS roles: http://forums.riftgame.com/game-disc...ium-4-0-a.html
