Trion is good at saying they want to do things but theyre even better at doing a 180 from their good idea and ignoring the playerbase for 6-12 months until the next version thats duct taped together is ready to be pushed out. Every Expansion has been "We know we ****ed up on this and well fix it this xpac" Right into "Hold my beer and watch me do something even worse" within a months time.
With the S2P, there was a good sized playerbase that wasn't having incessant gambling and huge nerfs shoved down their throats. They had funding that was able to keep a sizable dev team along with a team lead that was Johnny on the Spot. Now there its a glut of emptiness and silence that is deafening.

Class balance evidently means nerf everything but your pet class when it should have been buff the classes to within 10% of one another.

Promises were made and blown off and evidently, nobody is accountable. Are the stakeholders upset by the loss of playerbase numbers on a grand scale? I suspect so. How can Trion approach the stakeholders with a request for funding for an expansion with the reputation that is reflected on this forum and elsewhere, along with what seems to be dismal monthly receipts. Ain't gonna happen.
Look at the funding that was acquired prior to launch with a business plan, conceptual design and forecast of revenues generated on a grand scale pre-launch and launch.

    Read the history here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rift_(video_game)

Particularly, read the Development and Reception sections.

With an initial $50 million investment to bring this game to launch 2006-2011 Launch was March, 2011 with an announcement of 1 million players and an income of $100 million by august of the same year.

    Can Trion boast this today??
One would think they would have bent over backwards and done hand springs to eclipse that set of numbers by today.

they took all that money and bought/developed more games. Archeage is a huge moneypot for the cash shop with BiS items being RNG from regrade scrolls sold in the cash shop (Surprise). They tested the cash shop on rift. Effectively ddivided and killed the population and now theyre taking what theyve learned about being too greedy and implemented it in other games. If they wanted rift fixed they would devote the time and effort into it. But they clearly don't want to do anything with it other than let it float on the few developers and any revenue they get from the cash shop.

Rift will allowed to die a slow death! Their other games and their new purchase marvel heroes is where their focus is now. They bit off more than they could chew and are spread too thin. http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/...-trion-worlds/

Gazillion has no games to speak of. When they lost the license to the Marvel game, Gazillion had no products to generate revenue at all. Trion would not be able to develop, host, or sell anything Marvel related unless they worked out a deal with Disney.

The only thing Trion got out of the purchase was tech, tools, and patents. Not any games to add to Glyph.
