Default Question to prime players about XP-Grind

Prime is like a new start for Rift. Even though the beginning success was nice this might turn and it might turn fast.

Now xp from invasions are nerved as I heared and nobody does quest cause it is a grind. Which makes it problematic cause if the game becomes too much of a grind you loose what you should not loos players.

Please who have a problem with too much grind answer me here.

Yes certain grind must be but you need too keep the playerbase in a way happy. You know what the good thing is Trion? You can! You already have expansions out which with time you could upload and also this would lead to have players make alts (which exp boosts for second or third class alts)

My suggestion give more experience on the storyline quests so the people have an interesst to do them and with this the lore comes part of the community which makes us more engaged.

So if the stroyline experience gives much more exp that you go through the zone and with this do some rifts and kill quest and some other quests a bit on the side and hunting with rifts would be enough. this keeps players engaged. & I would make crafting also more exp rewarding - why? cause it gives player something to do (there one can grind but he will get money as reward witht time) and more people get engaged with inside economy.

But make everything a grind, will push players away with a bad experience and you will have lost them for good.

Community what is your opinion of do you have others suggestions.

& If someone flames me. I Don't have problem with the grind, I love doing all the quests and clearing a zone even if it takes me longer. But others might.

In my opinion, extreme caution has to be taken when thinking about changing the XP gain in Rift Prime. The majority of players that have risen from the Teleran graveyard and returned to play Prime are here for a few specific reasons. One of the reasons is they are looking for a challenge, not for everything to be given to them as in XP potions, quick levels, easy dungeons, etc.

If people wanted a game where they can come in and make the level cap in a week or less and be ready to raid, then why did they come to prime? They should have gone to live and they would have been able to do that easily for free. That is not what Prime is all about, from what I understand Prime is about rediscovering Telara from the beginning and going back through the content, lore, etc. without a cash shop loaded with QoL and other items that give players advantages and can advance them through the game just by spending money.

    Nogardgib thanks for your answer.

I agree with you that it must be done carefull.

But I don't agree with you that they where looking for a challange. Cause the challenge how deep the leveling curve is nobody knew from the beginning or at least not the general playerbase and this is what makes a game survive (casuals). I think to keep the diffuculty in the dungeons, pvp or the raids and keep it for completionist but not on the experience aspect which is the leveling. This never worked in a subscripion model and the grind if for the f2p where there the small group of white wales (massive spending on cashshops) and the others give money to make the grind barable this is all in the free model.

And lack of content is not the problem when you can upload already existing exption which you could upload later without the need to create directly.

But again I agree it must have a balance.

!!! Keep the discussions in this linke now please!!! http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-prim...ml#post5343378

I agree. Currently I'm lvl29 and it pretty much took all night after work just to get one level. Already I can't be bothered to login and grind. Thankfully I only paid for a month, might not continue with that.

No, only the uninformed players are looking for a challenge!
Prime is using the same client / similar data set as live. We haven't seen any class balance changes beside a few major exploit fixes in a year. When it comes to raiding there will be no challenge at all, because you can't tune the encounter:

    - Many souls had an rework over the past 7 years and work completely different now.
    - We have unlocked souls and their mechanics (Raid shields etc.) we did not had back in classic.
    - Trion will not re-balance every souls for prime and risk an even more unbalanced meta on live.

They don't want us to hit level 50 too fast, because the future content is not ready.

Default I get error messages trying to reply on a Prime thread, so I'm replying here

I'm playing Prime and had been enjoying it .. doing story quests and a few dungeons and some rifts/invasions, etc. I finished up Freemarch and went to Stonefield at about level 18 and did okay, the mobs were only about 2 levels above me. I've been working the quest line there and am up to 21, but the mobs in my questing area are already at 25 and I can't get much done without dying repeatedly. I've been running events when I can get in with a group to try and get more XP to get me up, but that's extremely low going.

I don't know about the rest of the XP, but the story line quests definitely need a buff to XP so you don't end up so far below the mobs you're getting nowhere. It also doesn't help that the tank pet for Elementalist is useless as a tank, it hasn't been able to hold aggro since I was level 12.

I don't mind grinding mobs, I do that anyway because I'm leveling gathering as I go, but I feel like I'm getting nowhere and if it only gets worse the higher level I am, I'm not going to last long before I throw in the towel.

On a side note, the tiny bags and slower than slow mounts and inability to vendor grey items from the store interface make it even more frustrating, I have to go back to Meridian to find a bank to offload bags constantly. More bankers at hubs in each area would help a lot.

The problem with buffing xp is then a lot of players will level too fast, leaving the early zones feeling empty again. One of the great things about prime is you get to see a lot of other players levrlingvwith you, and this is something you won’t see on live. If you give ppl more xp, the crowd will leave and then new prime players will not have ppl around.

And if xp will remain as is players will also leave (the game) - and you will not have ppl around.

Any killing you do in group costs you at least 25% of the xp you would have gotten if you had it done solo

Rested xp is only effective for the first 5 or 6 kills

so.. you fight 5 or 6 mobs..
your xp for first kill is 450 (2levels above your level)
your xp for kill 5 is 220. If any other player tags your fight, you xp drops to 160
when in a group, the more people in group, the lower your xp gain per kill.

it cuts both ways. In a group, you kill stuff faster, so in the same time, you can kill more. Good for invasion farming or big groups.
If solo, you get more xp, but have to do it on your own, which takes more time.

So yes, if you do all zone content in a group, you will end up level 14/15 without quests to do.
If you do all zone content solo, you will be around level 18/19 and ready for the new zone.

To fill up a gap in the xp to get to the next zone, Trion now has added carnages Silverwood........
From memory, the quest achievement for Silverwood is some 100 quests, for freemarch some 90.....

    from PRIME patch notes
    SILVERWOOD
    * Silverwood has had a number of new carnage quests added to bring it up to parity with Freemarch. 14 of them, in fact! [For Prime Quality of Life!]
    - If you are a Guardian and have left the zone, it might be worth taking a murder run through that idyllic forest and sweeping up some of this sweet, sweet XP.
    - Certain existing carnage quests that asked you to fight legitimately difficult fights, or asked you to go above and beyond the number of targets have had their XP reward increased.
    - Alas, without the Cosmic Rhinoceros, you can’t go back and time and redo them.

Imo oldschool grinding doesn't equal a challenge.

Anyone can grind - in fact questing is easy. Hardcore questing for little gains is just tedious and boring, nothing challenging or great about it.

Give me an actual challenge, make quest bosses have mini raid mechanics, or make it so you have to keep up an almost perfect rotation on enemies to beat them or you need to use all your cooldowns well, etc. This is not that.

Also, with the server only being up for a year - this is basically a quick history tour of Rifts glory days and not actually getting back into it properly.

So this is the worst possible situation for a hardcore grind - where it all is going to repeatedly become redundant in a couple months.

If having to repeat a hardcore grind every couple months and have all your current progression become redundant, doesn't swiftly kill things, i don't know what would.

I do appreciate the other side of it too - we can't get through the content too quickly - but then have more content: more end game content and/or progression, not putting up a grind wall.

We all know that is never going to be sustainable, even if that is the most doable and affordable solution.

I am very well informed and I absolutely came for the challenge.

I am not sure how you can call me uninformed for the personal decision I made to play Prime. I came to play for the challenge. Not sure how you assume to know any different. It appears you sir are the only uninformed one here. I have personally talked or chatted with over 200 people about why they made the decision to come back to Rift. One of the biggest reasons stated was for the challenge that was first presented in early Rift before things became easy and p2w (for the lack of a better word I do not think it is p2w). When there was no cash shop selling multiple things to make it so easy to get further in the game with little effort.

The past week has been lots of fun, excitement, and yes; challenges. I feel the many forum posts and chats in-game attest to the fact that the quests, open world, and dungeons have not been a cakewalk for everyone. That is why there has been much discussion about the tuning of bosses and such. You will find people on both sides. You will find the ones saying "please do not nerf things again or at all as obviously people are making it through the dungeons" and the other side saying "Nerf, nerf, nerf because it took us 10 wipes to get to the third boss and the last boss was no go".

I did not and do not have Trion's wants or expectations in mind when I decided to play something. I am pretty sure most other players did not either. I am assuming except for a select few that they decided to play for their own wants, needs, and desires. We already know they do not want us to hit level 50 too fast, tell us something new.

Then how fast do you think people should level? Please give in hours played.

As it is right now, the people that already hit 50, have about 100 hours of actual play time. The bulk of the server is 25-35 range. With the current leveling speed, that bulk of players will be 50 in about 10-12 days from now.

I do think as the level cap raises, then the XP rates for 1-50 should be increased. To help newer players get caught up.

I signed up for prime because i was fed up with what i refer to as the dumbing down of leveling zones. what i mean by that is all the yellow mobs that used to be red, (meaning you had to actually work you way through a zone and not just skip across the yellow brick road.

I agree xp is a little slow in some areas but i also dont want to be 50 in a week. I went back to live and leveling via quest alone i was 70 in no time. Then as a solo player i have finnished what i can do in a few weeks and get bored and lose interest. (yes i can join a guild and do pvp but again i may just want to quest.

I have been enjoying prime even cursing at the screen when i die YET again. I have joined a guild again and am socialising like its new all over again. If this makes me and the dozens of other people i have spoken to uninformed so be it but i want a challenge.

xp rates should be like they were at release for 1-50. Falling behind zones isn't something that should be looked over for the sake of a few people wanting to have a super slow leveling curve. Most Ive talked to have not returned for some super hardcore experience, they are here because its a throw back to 2011. There are tons of complaints every day in 1-29 about how people are underleveled, I'm one of the ones who caught back up grinding but it was far from fun or hardcore, it was mind numbingly boring TBH.
