Does anyone know when the producer's letter will be released, or no news on the deadline? Also, typically, when do producer's letters usually release for games?

I agree with Artewig. Those of us who have been playing for a long time and care for the game and those who speak out (I don't really post on forums) in hopes to actually be heard get frustrated and might eventually leave. I joined late 2.4 or 2.5 Song of Dreams patch and I had so much fun. The grind was acceptable and raids were amazing in my opinion. Then came NMT so I bought the 25 USD DLC because I didn't want to grind for earring and planewalker. The expansion was acceptable to me but I later realized I shouldn't have bought it because it was made available for purchase through credits/gift sellers. it was somewhat fun and started to PvP and it was ok. However, when SFP was announced I knew I had to stack plat/REX because there was no way I was going to spend real money this time around. Not being able to raid sounded boring and population was already declining, f2p nerfs were a mistake and removing PvP maps while nothing was (maybe still is) being done to improve PvP experience is just sad.

In the end, I bought SFP with 4 REXes, did my leveling, PvPed a bit, dungeoned till I was geared and lost interest indefinitely. I find it hard to log in and play because there's nothing to do. Another game has caught my attention and while it's still in open beta it looks solid and is really fun, also completely F2P, will remain F2P and grind is acceptable. As for the producer's letter, I think it has come to a point where winging it feels more appropriate. I do hope 4.1 brings balance and hopefully makes the game fun again.

Not to mention this is an otherwise amazing time for new game releases, so people that leave will feel even less desire to come back and stick around in any sort of financially meaningful way.

Last year's letter was published February 3rd. Trion's other original game, Atlas Reactor, published their letter for 2017 on January 7th.
Games like League of Legends and Overwatch give more frequent "State of the Game" press releases. Overwatch especially, Jeff Kaplan does a sit down video every few weeks.

I think it is safe to say most publishers that traditionally do this sort of an annual press release have done so already.

I know ill be accused of white knighting, but its ironic when you see people in a thread who you also find on other forums recommending gray market sellers for xpacks and DLC.

Perhaps trion cant afford to produce a producers letter because the same people who so loudly complain about the game, financially undermined it to the point that there's nothing left?

Im one of those people who pays full price for everything, so i have a right to complain about trion and about the "players" who essentially sponge off my money while getting things fraudulently or free.

No, trion is not perfect and they have obviously made their fair share of screw ups with rift, but unless you pay trion for their game, and not some gray market, you have literally zero right to complain, because you contribute zero to the games success.

Pure speculation on my part - always safe to start with that line:
I think the letter TrionB wrote in regards to extending the release of 4.1 by a month said a lot more to me about the mindset of Trion these days. Gone are the days where we matter frankly - sure if no one plays Trion ceases to exist but really I think our voicing our concerns is simply for our own benefit. I think its come down to a business decision at this point. There is X amount of Devs and there is X+infinity things to be done. Now I believe the Devs still care a great deal about the game but I don't feel there is the financial resources to hire enough folks to make what needs to happen - happen. Even if someone came up with a spectacular idea there just isn't time or people available to implement it at least not right away. So the mantra has changed from Whatever it takes to make it right is now The work will always be there tomorrow. Trion after all is a business and has to make money to survive. This is proven by the Fragment system. Everyone hated RNG with the Sparkle quest crap there had to be tons of blow back from that and yet they hung on to it with Fragments. Why implement a known irritant? A guildy of mine - long moved on - gent in his twenties with disposable RL cash told me he had purchased over 300 of the Revered frag boxes and he was BIS 6/15 for tank set and 9/15 for his dps set - I have no idea if those are good or horrible odds but I know its a decent revenue source for Trion. For plat he simply bought and sold Rex.
We have no idea how many have actually cancelled Patron or have permanently left. I think Trion is betting (perhaps arrogantly) they will come running on March 29 - there will be Rift content for us to chew on and it will fill some of the servers again. I am sure no one will try to do any type of long haul without Patron bonuses. For now though we get what we get. PS I don't know Artewig - but I do know writing off what he is saying as a troll post makes me wish for an ignore button on the forums. I will not claim to have read all his post but I read a lot of what he writes on the Rogue forums and he is always constructive to new folks writing guides and clearly understands the game.
We are in fact as a reminder - customers. It does not seem unreasonable to want know what the company has in mind for Rift. I have usually purchased Patron on a yearly basis but I wont be renewing when that comes up. I am usually 3rd or 4th DPS when I play and I am old so being beat by younger players who play their classes better - who understand the nuances better has always been fine by me. Now that anyone with a credit card can spend their way to substantially better stats takes the fun out of it.

Try reading the whole thing. The "not being able to afford to write a letter" part is obvious hyperbole. Writing a letter is free. The rest is not hyperbole, however.

You cant expect them to release an xpack, which is INSTANTLY being sold for 1/4 its legitimate price in large quantities, and for the game not to suffer. The sponges who got it almost free made the "higher quality because buy to play" thing fail instantly.

The people who got the xpack fraudulently, and who have financially undermined rift through various other types of fraud that i have covered in detail in other threads are definitely partially responsible for the state of the game.

I realize some people think that playing videogames for free is a RIGHT, but it is not, and not everything is owed to you as a FREE handout. That socialist mentality of entitlement to getting everything unearned and free pervades western society now. The degeneration of the west is the obvious result. Same rules apply to individual companies.

Financially undermine the companies that make the products you like and this is the result. The quality of their products goes down the toilet.

As i said in my previous post, trion is not blameless and has made plenty of mistakes, but neither are the moochers and sponges who get things cheaper than they should, but then still feel entitled to complain about the messes they helped create.

Theyre not entitled if theyre part of the problem. I realize that facts and logic are out of fashion, and people prefer the emotionally based irrational stuff these days, but im not going to delete my post because you want to pretend like what i said isnt true.

I think you are posting in the wrong thread DarkDovey. Either that or you could make a smidgen of effort to be on topic.

Seriously... not every thread is about the grey market.

I'm a little confused why this topic always seems to come up.

Also, I am sure it's extremely difficult for an office to afford Microsoft Word.

I know that some salty snowflakes get triggered by the idea of a company needing to pay its employess and stuff in this day and age.

The simple fact is, this expansion was a return to buy to play, rather than free to play. A bunch of the "community" decided to financially undermine trion and therefor undermine rift, by obtaining the xpack fraudulently.

If you actively destroy the company that makes the products you use from them, then you cant expect them to keep producing high quality products, can you?

Keep in mind, in both of my previous posts, i have said that trion is not blameless when it comes to rifts problems.

Im simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the entitled moochers who undermine this game i like. Theres no reason to get triggered unless youre one of the people who undermines rift through fraud or exploits.

Trion told us that SFP had been in development for almost 18 months before they offered it for pre-order, i.e. they'd already earned and spent the money needed to complete it during NMT. The money they earned from the pre-order sales should have funded the continuing development of SFP.

The simple fact is that despite this they still haven't delivered a good portion of the items that were on the list of SFP features and apparently, almost three months into the year, don't have enough of a plan to be able to tell its customers what they intend to do about it.

You do realize thats not how many businesses operate. They will invest in a new product, and then recouperate the costs of producing it by the profitability of the product.

And also, the preorder period is when the massive fraud occured! Thanks for making my point clearer.

If the profitability of SFP was severly undermined by fraud, as it apparently was, it stands to reason that the quality of service after SFPs release would go down the toilet as well.

Im not saying that these moochers are SOLELY responsible for rifts suffering quality, but they ought to be brought up in any of these whiny snowflake threads, since they are partly to blame.
