Default Starweave/Flank Steak drop rate nerfs. Why?

    From today's patch:

    * Slightly reduced the drop rate of Starweave.
    * Reduced drop rates of Flank Steak.
    * Increased the Flank Steak costs of some recipes.

What am I missing here? I was already seeing the drop rate of starweave at about 40-45% of the starhide I was getting from Centaurs.

Was starweave drop rates that much higher elsewhere where their was a need for this?

It looks like this and the flank steak nerf just makes crafting more tedious.

just speaking for myself I have stacks and stacks of cloth and flank steak without any farming, and given the AH prices I suspect many others do also as they practically sell at vendor price

Due to the market glut of said materials.

Where are you getting your cloth from?

I'm not looking in the right place. Farming Centaurs is definitely slow.

I have something like 10 stacks of cloth collected while farming other mats, so yeah, that needed a nerf. I'm not sure how many steaks I have but I always have more than enough. It does seem like a double-nerf might be a little much, I guess we'll see.
But I'm totally looking forward to having some samite

I do get much cloth but it is the start of a crafting series and we need it. Metals and plants could use an upgrade too. I seem to use most of the flank steak I get. And costs going up too? Sounds destructive.

I get a lot just doing the end-of-story dailies.

Lean steak needs a serious increase for us lowbies - specially Guardian side.

And the AH is scarce most of the time.

Heh - I just leveled a couple of alts through survivalist and there are a bunch of mats in the 40-200 level range which are super annoying to get and just do not appear on AH. Lean bacon is my pet peeve.

    Daily portals = excess cloth.
Minions = more than enough of everything for daily crafting and the occasional stack to vendor or AH.

The only relative shortage I can see is the low level ore, attra-something, unobtanium, whatev. The lilac coloured one. Yes, I maxxed most crafts a long time ago (week one), AS 220/225 off dailies only. Ran enough dailies to buy all teh useful recipes for every craft and even the three DW dimension keys cos they were there /shrug.

From memory I have about 1k cloth bolts in the bank, and about 800 cloth on hand. Just can't get rid of the stuff (not strictly true, I sold a few stacks over the weeks). Used to be a lot worse when Ashenvale daily portal mobs dropped cloth. Now they just stand there looking stupid as you by-pass most of them.

When you get into Gloamwood head to Tearfall Run and there is an area off from the falls where there is that waterfall complex. Over that way there is a group of mobs that drop the steaks at a fair rate. I know the bats and such there give them up kinda frequently. Also, there is a rift that breaks out there kinda chronically, either fire or earth, and that is a regular rift not a major, so you have to work around that.

Hope that helps. Also, the werewolves drop bacon too from time-to-time.
