What is "Guild Influence"?

I logged into my characters and I see that I've earned x amount of Guild Influence. There was no mention of this in the patch notes or livestreams so I'm unsure what this actually is for?

I don't see anything new in the Guild UI either.

Edit: I do see that it's matching the loyalty from purchases. I bought a Trove and received 1170 Loyalty (combat log: "You gained 1170 Loyalty Points") and then I see "You have earned 1170 guild influence for <Guild>". Would be nice to see more details on this or if it's just a text-based error!
