    but i think full loot wouldn't work in this game because theres such a heavy reliance on gear to be good endgame. (i assume)

    I'd be happy if they just made a FFA , no Safe haven to start with. Then they can code or change elements of loot dropping etc when they have time to do so.

    I wouldnt expect this for about a year after release if they do decide to do it. The only reason I can give that it would take that long is because Trion serves no wine before its time.

    Basically saying Trion wont hit a couple switches and do some coding and call it good. It doesn't seem to be the way they go about things. If they made a server like this, it would be after months of tweaking and checking and making sure the fun and viability has a lasting impression. They wont do a half-arsed server. That is, if they do it at all.

    As I've said in another of the million or so threads on this...

    I don't like FFA PvP, but if Trion chose to implement an FFA server I wish the best of luck to those who play on them.

    They'll need that luck too, because I would predict an utter torrential downpour of QQ and drama on the forums as everyone is shot in the back a million times a day while fighting mobs or crafting or whatever else. FFA worked in less complex MMOs, there's too much going on at once in Rift. FFA was a failure in Age of Conan and it would be a failure in this too.

    FFA without consequences is failure. There is no fun in choice if there are no consequences to your decision.

    I just wish FFA PvP servers were a publicly traded stock so I could sell them short. Talk about an easy way to make a quick buck. Just sit back, watch the # of players steadily decline, and think about the money I would make. Sweet!

    You would have not made any money with the EQ1 FFA pvp server.

    I very much believe that if it was just ONE server like this, that it would be filled with no trouble. A certain crowd would buy the game that would not have otherwise. If too many of those certain people buy it, Trion can simply add another server like this.

    In terms of programming effort to do this, it really wouldn't be difficult at all. Just flag all players against everyone at all times, in all places, and make all gear tradeable (non soulbound) on this server. Then just add in something that lets players loot other players after killing them.

    It's fine to say you would not play on this server. I probably wouldn't either. But to say it would be useless to make it....I don't believe that is correct. As long as they could fill at least ONE server with people playing it, then it would have been WELL worth Trion's investment in making it.

    full loot never works in a game where gear is hard, challenging, or long time spent to get it. All it does is create gank groups in full greens, ganking solo players. It doesn't create any challenge, it creates stupidity and people who are afraid to pvp with anything but green items, or when cds are up. Plus no one wants to play on a server with 90% assassins running around stealthed

    Clearly you've never played on a server or game with such a feature. You are totally off base and misinformed. People will roll on this server knowing exactly what the consequences are. you speak of people who wouldn't even choose this type of server rule set.
