Because the rollout of Glyph is BROKEN - I can't play, it wants 16.43GB to 'patch'.

or you can just assign the directory and skip the patch? Man, it's like people haven't posted 10+ threads on this and told people how to solve it in each one. Or like there isn't a sticky about this or something.

    It's doesn't always work.

I tried that select directory angle too, and it didn't recognize my install.

So I blew away Glyph, all traces of glyph in the Rift Game folder, and it runs just fine and dandy without the extra layer of bloat.

Quite frankly, as a long time subscriber, and patron I am not interested in this crapware. I've spent more than my fair share in the Rift store too, I admit it, and I didn't mind it at the time. But this business of a very broken new launcher is terrible.

If I have to deal with this crap, I'm tempted to just cancel and try another new game.

Try telling Glyph to uninstall Rift (It will delete anything from the new installation it attempted to make only and won't affect your current install) and then set the Rift directory to your current installation.

What happened with me (back when Glyph was in beta, mind you) was that it couldn't recognize a new install directory until it had completely broken ties (so to speak) with the previous install directory.

Some people play this game with their family.

Y'know, Wife and kid, or some such.

    Just a thought.

No, it's like THAT DOESN'T WORK for some people, as has been said in all those threads, and you haven't read.

This is the problem with marketing departments. It's 'their job' to find the ways to exploit content as much as possible and demand new things like a 'glyph' multi-product interface.

It's not just the technical problem with the rollout making the game unplayable for many customers, which can cause blame games in Trion for how that went wrong.

It's the whole excessive push for these overly aggressive marketing efforts. Some is understandable, but it gets to be too much.

I've seen hundreds of posts on Steam by people who won't buy a game because it uses an added interface like uplay or EA's interface, yet they're making a Trion version here.

I know it can increase some revenues, but learn to do it less aggressively.

This is one of the issues with 'free to play', customer objections, 'they won't like that', can be met too much with 'well, it's free to play, so they don't get much say'.

And those of us who have spent hundreds on the game are in the same bucket with that approach. I can't play. Customer service couldn't help. At least one dev is being helpful here.
