That would be awesome. If you could improve the performance of the game and remove the graphics choppiness that would be a huge improvement to an already great game.

I really do like the shadows as it adds quite a nice touch but I would rather have a smoother playing experience then prettier graphics, so I usually have them turned off.

Also, not to beat a dead horse, but if you guys could expand the utility of dimensions that would be another huge improvement. If we could stock our own dimensions with our own vendors, chests for additional storage, and crafting areas that would be awesome. Maybe even try to build our own town.

You could put a lot of these items (like chests for storage or crafting stations) as items on your store and probably make a lot of money that way.

Also, ever since the F2P launch there have been some connectivity issues. I heard that these issues will be addressed if you bathe in butter and sage.

I am glad you are enjoying Telara and I cannot wait to eat you.

You always were my favorite dragon.

Sorry for killing you so much in your chronicle, but you really should have gone for Shyla first. Though all that saccharine might give you a massive tummy ache, and Tavril only knows what the side effect of THAT would be...

6/10 I agree on Storm Legion.

Sadly, you did not experience Rifts golden days, because you would've given that game a 9/10 easily.

I am not sure if that is what you want to hear, but currently Rift is far from respecting your time either. Item prices (tokens) are way too bloated, reputation grinds that easily take 3x-5x the time to max out compared to wow's and you have to absolutely do these grinds if you dont want your character to miss 30% +- of stats.

There are no real catch up mechanics to newer raids either.

I personally am waiting for 3.0 to see if Rift becomes worthwhile again

Granted, but there is one key difference. Rift isn't charging me a monthly fee to play their game so I can just hop on and and enjoy it here and there whenever I feel like it. As soon as I start getting burned out, I can put it on the shelf (figuratively speaking) and go play Civilization 5 or League of Legends, and come back 3 months later when I am in an MMO mood again.

Perhaps Nightmare Tide will take everything else to the next level, and if not that then there is always EQ Next to look forward to.

Welcome to Rift! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Myself, I too love the class customization, playing around with the souls, and finding a odd combo that feels fun. It may not be optimal for max dps/heals, but I still have fun.

I was a hard core raider for the first 2 years of Rift's life, and played in beta. I had a job that allowed me to spend a lot of time on this game, and I enjoyed it. I did get burned out with the constant pressure to be at the top of my game, and had to take a few month break. Now I'm just a casual player, I run expert 5 man dungeons a lot, and do pug groups in tier 1 raiding content - when I have time. I like the lack of pressure when everything is on my terms, not a group's.

Which is something that I think is great about this game: you don't have to be at the top to enjoy it. You can dedicate as much time as you like to it, and still have FUN. Which is what a game is about, is it not?

I merely cited my history so that everyone would know what perspective I was coming from. If the developers ever read this (and it seems that they might since Ocho responded on this thread) they might find my perspective useful as they continue to try to improve their game and get players from other MMOs to try Rift out.

EDIT: sorry for double post. The first time it was rejected as being too close in time to my last post.
The simple fact that you put your amount of time playing WoW into the subject line is proof enough that you think it holds weight. If you truly thought it to be irrelevant (which it is) you would not have mentioned it in the first place.

I just noticed it today too. I never had it before though, so you might just have started playing at the wrong time... I expect these disconnects will dissapear again in a while.

Don't get me wrong, its playable (even with shadows turned on) but I am a bit spoiled. I haven't had choppy graphics in years and its annoying to have to put up with it here.
Yeah, don't expect RIFT to have perfectly smooth graphics, ever. It's one of the things that one has to accept when putting up with this game. You will get used to it though like everyone else

True that, but there's at least an alternative: you can level up by doing 100% dungeons. I leveled a char that way and it was fun though I do recommend exploring the world and doing the story quests on a first playthrough.

It would be nice if dimensions could be used for more things than just showing off your decorating ability.
I very much agree. The main reason I stopped building dimensions is that I felt there was no point. I would have some fun building it, but when I was finally done, it was useless. Even just for prettyness, the only way to get your dimension viewed by anyone is by sending direct invites or spamming chats 24/7 with "come see my dimension!" and even then it's not likely that many will come, because most ppl just don't care as long as it's only for prettyness.

The fact that out of plural pages the only one not being cool and welcoming to him is you, speaks a lot more about you than it does him.

I do, and I'm saying that it's absolutely wrong. You can put whatever spin on it you like, but there was no hidden/additional meaning behind what I said.

He didn't say he wasn't welcome... he did however insinuate that how long someone plays an MMO seemingly has no bearing on their level of importance when they make a forum post.

Of course, that position is equally as silly. Would you rather read a post from someone who played for 2 minutes or from someone who played for 9 years? Would you rather hire someone with 2 years of experience making widgets or a 10 year master widget crafter? When you want an opinion on a medical problem, do you tell the specialist with 20 years of experience that his time doesn't matter?

I love me some broken logic.

Of course his opinion matters. You just don't like it. The end.

Last I checked, I get ~24fps with shadows on, ~45fps with shadows off, on my hardware.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed. (Updated for 2.5!)

I get 30-40 FPS in Tempest bay with full shadows on, including super sampling :-)
