I am asking a serious question.

What do you think in your honest unbiased opinion will allow this game to retain it's first month subs for a long period of time?

That said, I'd like a PvP scene. Clearly the devs have pointed out how they're structuring raiding, but the second I hit the point where I realized raiding was the primary means to progress in WAR and AoC, I quit. I've had more than enough raiding in WoW to last me a lifetime.

If i buy this game, i doubt my subscription will last longer than 3 months. You can only rift for so long before you realize it truely is repetitive.

Guess if you can't see past the rifts then yes.

Unbiased opinion is not a contradiction in terms.

Being biased means you only see one single point of view and you feel so strongly about it you cannot formulate an opinion besides coming off as a fanboy.

An unbiased opinion is where you look at all sides and aspects of a debate and formulate an opinion that isn't overly one sided.

Opinion is bias. There is no such thing as an objective point of view. Everything is subjective.

expert dungeons (that are VERY VERY challenging), raids, raid rifts, leveling an alt, professions, collections, same thing that people stay in other mmo's for..

    it is ALL repetitive.

Not like anyone comes out with new content every month. With that being said, there will be updates, patches, new content, warfronts. etc.

mmo's are all about a group of friends leveling up in a fantasy world, immersion.. once leveled it is about, progression with a group of friends. Every mmo is the same in this aspect, no? I do not understand why you would even question what would keep people around. It's new, refreshing, some of us are sick of the same games that have been around for 6 years..

RIFT is amazing, they just need to fix a few simple aesthetics, and that will come in time!

I think this game has a massive amount of potential. Significantly more than any one of us can see right now having only been able to, at most (and in many people's case less) see up to lvl 30 and a small sampling of zones.

Considering the game is still in beta, with over a month until it hits store shelves, I would say they are on the right track. Obviously there are changes/additions/tweaks that need to be made.

I believe they are already starting to establish themselves with a good track record of providing what people want and actually listening to their (future) paying customers.

    1. The class system is truly awesome. Future new souls will only make things more interesting.

    2. The developers performance and responsiveness to player feedback is amazing. They are open to ideas but are still strong in their convictions of what they want the game to be. This means good suggestions will go a long way and baddies complaining will get ignored.

It will just have to be fun...
People will need to have that desire to keep coming back, things will need to be dynamic enough to hold interest.

I have no idea if it will hold anyone that long, i have hopes, but not the faintest idea. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes the way of WAR and AoC and such, around, but nothing special, small player base.

I hope not. I really hope Rift succeeds because i want something new.

You know what, to be quite honest I feel like I could play this game for ever. I can't quite put my finger on what's so intriguing about it, but I know there's got to be something.

I feel like the world and scenery is very aesthetically pleasing and could have me traveling and exploring for a long time.

The storyline is really good, it makes me want to continue playing just to get more.

I don't feel the grind as much as most other MMO's although the town - 10 hubs - town thing gets quite annoying at times.

One of the biggest things that I think will get this game past the first 6 months is that there's so many class combinations to try out. That alone will have people playing for a large amount of time. I believe in the one video the guy gave the calculation for how many class combos there are, but he didn't do the math.
