    Default Arachne in RIFT Store?

I heard recently that Arachne is for sale at $5 in the RIFT store. Is there any truth to this? Furthermore, will those of us who spent 200 lucky coins on Arachne have an opportunity to reclaim those lucky coins via the RIFT store? That's several weeks worth of work for some.

I know we can access PTS ourselves to check on this. I cannot install the PTS client due to circumstances.

We actually can't access PTS right now anyway. I think I saw something named Arachne, I didn't remember its price.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed. (Updated for 2.5!)

Yea all the lucky coin mounts are for sale in the rift store. They shouldn't be.

Could have just been there for testing purposes, too -- we've already been told that not everything from PTS is going to make it to Live, so I'd hold off on my anger until we see if that's one of the items that comes over (or not) on Wednesday.

Ice Raptors were available in the Rift Store on PTS for a few days too (for either 1 silver or 1 Plat, I forget), then they were removed.

Everything is conjecture until we see what's actually in 2.3 on the Live servers.

Confirmed. Arachne is available for less than $5 in Rift credits.

Hopefully the GMs will let me redeem it to get back the 200 lucky coins. That's a pretty harsh loss given how finite (and expensive) those coins are.

Wow that's really lame that they are offering the same mounts we had to work towards to get....

Not trying to be smart but isn't that the point of the store (other than the obvious business reasons), to buy things as opposed to working for them?

I agree. It seems that every lucky coin mount and/or companion can be had for pennies on the dollar. We can't get those lucky coins again on our characters, however, and therein lies the problem with their decision.

Hopefully they'll return the spent lucky coins. If not.. well, we'll just have to wait and see.

Solreal, you are correct. We had to spend a per-character finite resource to get those items before, however, which places early adopters at a significant disadvantage. It seems like an unfortunate oversight, one which they will hopefully correct by enabling us to get our coins back. I believe you can only get ~610 coins per character, plus however many new artifact sets they added in 2.3.

Probably from Trion's business mindset, it simply makes extremely good sense and keeps mostly everyone happy in regards to the F2Pers.

Since the mount doesn't equate to P2W, $5 is a third of what a sub costs. Add in a hat/two and some potions.. bam! Instant equivalent of a sub.

That you 'worked' for it is immaterial. You received what you worked for. They didn't cheat you.

That someone else is paying to get what you 'worked' for is also immaterial as it has no real direct bearing on playing against you. (waiting to hear the 'indirect' argument.. you know it's coming)

I can empathize with the frustration, to be sure.

I agree entirely. I don't mind that someone else can get a mount that I "worked" for. I enjoy how Arachne looks regardless of whether it cost $5 or 6 weeks of artifact farming. I just lament the permanent loss of 200+ lucky coins which I can never get again on this character.

The goal of my GM petition (and in these replies) is to communicate a disadvantage which, based on Trion's usual design principles, is probably an accident. It is reasonable for us to have a chance to get back those lucky coins, wouldn't you agree? Heck, if they give me back the coins, I'll buy the same pets and mounts from the Rift store.

But that's the rub; you freely spent those coins because at the time, it was a value for you. Now you're saying it wasn't and want to be refunded. That's not correct.

I think someone who purchased a year's sub and then "hey F2P!" has a legit beef. That is where they used REAL money to purchase something that was clearly worth it (cheaper monthly rates in advance). But when Trion took the 'monthly rate' with giving F2Pers the whole damn game free, then there is no longer a value and they should have been refunded their REAL dollars.

You are asking for a refund of fake money, when you already have the item so you can.. spend REAL money on the same thing?

Forgive me for saying so but you're apparently it seems you're trying to game the system here by using real money to buy the mount, then use the fake game money to gain an unfair advantage possibly over someone else with perhaps better gear/items like perhaps a trinket or something you? (idk)

Please let me know if I'm wrong if that's an incorrect assessment?

Per character, there is a finite number of lucky coins available. A character who spent those lucky coins prior to 2.3 cannot get them again. A character who did not spend them prior to 2.3 has more lucky coins to work with for their character's lifetime as they can opt to spend credits instead of coins, thus creating a perceived advantage for newcomers, such as an easier path to acquiring the Villa key.

As far as I can tell, there's no mitigation for this other than "suck it up". I hope Trion's response is more forgiving than that, and I consider it worth a petition or two to learn whether or not it was an oversight.

A petition is wise. To expect a change in policy isn't.

You freely spent your coins on what you thought was fair. Now speaking as someone from a purely business standpoint, it doesn't behoove Trion to give you a 'do over' here. You received your item. The fact that coins are finite is immaterial because you would have spent them on something else anyways; it was never designed for you to have ALL the items so you would have had to make a choice.

What if Trion gives you a 'do over', then you buy the mount for $5, and spend the coins on something else non-advantage like. Bam!

Two months later, Trion puts that thing you bought again on the cash shop. You want ANOTHER do-over? When does it end? And that's just you.. imagine everyone else who wants that same do-over.. too much.

Business wise best move for them is; They thank you for your petition, let you know how much they value your time and input and hope you enjoy your stay in Rift™, but at this time...
