As such, it 'may' not be a tanking soul - although in all likely it probably is.

So I understand the weapon toggle through buff on staff, but you also stated that daggers and sword will get that morph. How are they going to look with the scythe/axe/sword buff ?

Who needs swag when we will be in melee shredding you apart with Harbinger.
The new soul looks really fun and interesting!
Glad it will have good synergy with my two current favorite mage souls the stormcaller and chloro.
Great live stream.
Yeah...I'm actually not that excited about the Harbinger soul, unfortunately. The playstyle in the video looks a lot like a Riftstalker or Shaman, and to me it seems very much like a melee Mage soul for the sake of a melee Mage soul.
Unlike the melee Cleric souls, the Riftstalker, SWTOR's Jedi Shadow/Sith Assassin, or WoW's Feral Druid, the Harbinger as a melee class just seems kind of stupid & out of place to me since Mages IMO are MEANT to be ranged casters owing to two things: Cloth armor, and intelligence-over-strength mentality. I could almost understand if Harbinger were a Tanking soul (i.e using the arcane weapon morphs as well as some passives & armor increasing talents & shielding spells that allow it to be a tank, similar to Riftstalker), but when you're drawing on your Ascended planar magic to enhance your staff/weapon strikes just so you can go melee in nothing but robes, it just seems kind of silly.
Regardless, I guess this makes it fit in great with Rift's theme of "build your own hero", and it looks like it should do really well in PvP & leveling.
I also really liked all the antics going on in the live stream! I thought it was really well done despite the technical difficulties, and I really look forward to seeing more streams about Storm Legion from Trion in the future, especially the other three new souls.
As for the new Cleric soul...
Melee Clerics: 3 (Justicar, Shaman & Druid)
Healing Clerics: 3 (Warden, Sentinel, Purifier)
Caster Clerics: 2 (Inqusitor & Cabalist)
New Mage: Confirmed to be melee
New Warrior: Looks like Ranged
New Rogue: Looks like melee
Based on the numbers here I would expect a Ranged Cleric soul, possibly Support (many people have said an Archon-like soul would go GREAT with all the current Cleric souls).
One more thing: They said in the video that all of the new souls would tie into the Storm Legion lore somehow. So does this mean that all of them will focus on the Air and/or Death elements? Or are they hiding the other three for now because there will be some side stories/returning planar cults (its mentioned in Ember Isles that the Aelfwar have a new leader) that they don't want us to know about yet? Hmmm...
I just will post this:

For the first time since making my cleric my main I want to have some way to change my class >.> I might have to get on my alt mage and rank up for this, looked pretty sweet. I still have hope the new cleric soul will be just as amazing though the shield makes me cringe if it is indeed a tank soul.

Then you have 3 Melee and 5 casters.
Or maybe you could say:
1 Tank (Justicar)
2 Melee (Shaman and Druid)
2 Casters (Inquisitor and Cabalist)
3 Healers (Warden, Purifier, and Sentinel)
I'm not a fan of melee at all but I'm more excited to see how the new souls work at.. especially Chloro :3.
So, the new mage soul looks like a lot of fun... more like what the shaman should be, but falls short of, honestly. This soul brings a lot of appeal to the mage class for me personally.
As far as cleric goes, if we get another tanking soul, I'd be seriously disappointed.
Oh, and I was totally hoping for a Witch Doctor/Voodoo Priest for mages.... oh well, maybe next time.
Hawkemoon- Cleric- Greybriar
As for the Cleric getting a new shield-wielding Soul, it could very well be a soul with as much use as the Justicar. Remember that the 'Icar began life as a healing/support soul, then morphed into a Tank soul (and what a convoluted evolution that was, but we've arrived!). Could be a reinvention of both souls, in the way that the Warlord was hinted at to be "revisited".
Gonna do my best to reserve judgment until we hear more about the new Souls and the rework of the existing ones.
Wow, I just watched the video. All I gotta say is this: Give me one good reason NOT to switch my main to a mage. Melee dps with self heals and teleports + ranged attacks when backing out? Sign me up. Seriously, looks like a lot of fun and unless the warrior ranged soul synergizes well with it's melee souls, eff this warrior.
Don't make Dahanese sad. Behave yourselves.
