    Same.

It's something better NOT being integrated into the game since it'll probably be a mess.

What's the point in integrating it into the game?

I have Ventrilo and TeamSpeak installed... roughly half a dozen channels for each, and I hear Mumble's getting quite the following, too.

    Also, it's never implemented well.

Thats not true. EQ2s voice chat was wonderfully amazing. (truthfully it took a little while though)

Having vent for all groups/raids/guild is very nice.

This. Plus every guild has a Comms server.

I think every guild has a vent/ts/mumble/gsc server now adays.

Honestly, I could do quite happily without hearing every whiny pre-pubescent idiot I get dumped into a PUG with, and since just about every guild has a preferred voice comms program which is more full-featured than anything Trion could ever have reason to implement into the game, what's the point?

It'd be an interesting idea, but it'd just be reinventing something which third party programs already take care of more than adequately for the people who would actually care about it. So they either waste loads of time duplicating something else, or put in a half-assed implementation which nobody uses anyway.

Never used Mumble but I've heard some very good things about it. Supposedly it's on par with Vent (or better) but is freeware.

The drawback with builtin voice chat, imho, is the fact that if you crash or DC for whatever reason you also lose the chat.

I like Mumble a lot. It's my favorite "Vent."

EQ2's voice was actually really good, didn't just feel like poor-man's vent.
