    Default What is cleave?

What is cleave? I keep reading boss strategy that says the boss cleaves. What does that mean and how should a melee dps player avoid it?

A frontal Area of Effect attack capable of killing you if you are in the forward 180 degree arc of the bosses range, which can vary from melee, to an extended cone shape. (Like a dragon breathing)

The general rule: Always attack a monster's buns, or back legs.

Don't go infront of the boss if it has cleave.

You'll find a lot of dragon bosses on Wow had tail swipe + cleave, meaning melee stayed to the sides.

    Cleave is its own antonym.
    Thanks for the haircuts.

Really, just don't ever go in front of a boss as melee DPS unless it is required for a mechanic.

"Cleave" means frontal AoE Cone of attack in melee range, much in the same way people consider K.F.C. a heart attack in a bucket. The lazy will find a way to relate quickly, event if it means obscuring the full meaning.

What are you even saying there? Are you annoyed people gave OP a simple answer?

I figured that by asking a simple question, I would get a quick answer.

If I had expressed a personal opinion such as "I like cleave" or "cleave is dying" then I'd get the standard 50/50 flame fest.

Don't worry Yirk, you're "doin' it right."

    Good luck with those bosses
