I am not so much phased now, but it would be good to get my characters from my old server that has practically no one on there to my new server.

7 days is a bit short of a cooldown period, but what's really amazing is that these guys are offering this free of charge.

Gotta say, it's a very nice breath of fresh air when comparing against companies like Blizz who charge a premium for just about everything these days...

Please allow free faction changes at least a few times.

With all the rift factions named diferent, your making yourself do double the work. I think thats the only thing stopping you. On that note whats the harm in someobody getting an oppisite faction horse - Ziltch. I'll be happy to loose my home town faction (Meridian or scantum). But to name the rift factions differently is just plain redundant. Short of tipping the ballance of power on a server, witch can be fun in PvP, I dont see any issues. A fun idea, thier could be cross server battles. Perhaps guild flaged pvp like Eq1. In addition, non pvp servers would be unaffected, for you have not implimented contested mobs. Perhaps put faction on a monthly change system. I really like your idea of free server transfers, but I need faction changes. You said it yourself, friends want to play with friends. I have a t2 Defiant war on server A, a 48 Defiant mage on server B, and then all my friends started to play; I went Guardian on server C. It would be extremly pleasing to at least offer an innitial faction change. Server transfers without faction change is like pancakes with out syurp; It is a great innitial idea, but it's a dry without the intended end result.

Not sure what either of your points are(cba to read this thread throughout) but Im just gona say that bad grammer/spelling or whatever isnt really something that matters on a forum about a game, We are not here to win the noble prize in literature we are here to get points(and sadly huge amounts of QQing) across to other forum users and such, If A person calls B person stupid for putting his hand in the toaster is A wrong or as bad as B because he spelt toaster toaster? Not sure you get my point, but I realy dont think grammar or spelling matters if point is made, and therefore not really a burn or a counter-arguement to someone calling someone stupid, its just pointless nitpicking imo and silly.

Sorry for the rant just picked up on that post and 'burn' and personally cant stand people who set out to nitpick spelling and such as its as bad as the masses of QQers, over n out.

Let's see... you're right, bad spelling is not a sign of stupidity, bad grammar is not a marker for lack of intelligence... but most people certainly give more credit to a well written text and will take it more seriously than a sloppy text with bad spelling and lousy grammatical construction.
To the very least, bad spelling is a sign of sloppiness. Sloppy people are less credible than through ones and usually they are also less competent at any task (exceptions exist, of course, but they're... exceptional).

Like... it's arguable if the Nobel prizes are noble, and whatever was well spelled was not badly "spelt"... see the trend? Spell checkers are widely available and even in a forum the quality of your text matters, even if you try to convince the world it doesn't. Only the products of a second-class educational system will be satisfied by a badly constructed text full of spelling mistakes.
Please understand that bad spelling is not being confused with shortwriting and leetspeech which are different issues.

'Spelt' is an acceptable (and I'd say standard) use for the past tense of 'spell' in Australian and British English. Cf. 'dreamt'. FWIW.

First of all it a great addition to Rift cause of the concept. Its like traveling to another world with supports the rift style in every single way.

I thinks its a good thing to make it ingame but every 7th day is a weird choice it should be once a month.

If ppl ninja throgh LFD tool just make the leader use another looting type and if the leader is a ninja just deal with it ppl ninja and have always done it. Some are just idiots and dont care baut others!

Its nice that it dont cost anything - not all player got money for transfers if their guild is changing shard and its sad when that happens.

This is Awesome, too bad I cant transfer my Guardian Cleric over to another server and play it as Defiant.

I agree with this except in the opposite direction. Heck I wouldn't mind having to pay to do it even if that was needed to grease the wheels so to speak. I think I will probably even get on now, trade all my items over to my Cleric, and get ready to do this now so when it's available I can at least get my cleric on to the correct server. I started playing and found some people to play with then found some of my old SWG friends who I would rather play with. Please Trion let me make my Defiant a Guardian.

What's so amazing about that? They overloaded servers at the start (not really their fault, demand always drops after the first month), and people went with recommended servers that are now dead.

If I don't get a transfer, what do you think will happen? I will pay for a transfer? No, I will let my account lapse. So what you see as amazing free transfers, they see as "we will avoid losing customers."

You will be able to transfer for free.. but only to select servers.. likely the lowest pop servers around.
My friends who play were stupid, and started us up on a West coast server, and we are on the east coast.
I would like to move to the east coast, but not to a server with a scarce population.
Is that likely to be an option or not?

Kudos for giving this a try- sounds really interesting. Trion you've been more than excellent with all that you've attempted and try to do. The changes to the game already have been amazing and impressive.

Not like you'll get away from trolls on the internet anyway, though. Maybe restrict a character transfer if they've been reported for bad behavior x amount of times before or something, heh. I agree with making the transfer time a little longer!

I think territory transfers could be nice, but hardly worth rage-quitting over if they don't happen. I'm sorry you picked the wrong um.. country. But that's not Trion's fault. It's not their job to fix your mistakes. Maybe you should have thought that through before?

Or maybe there's a reason your friends chose to play on a different territory server set.


Whether or not you agree with everything they're doing.. you gotta at least give them credit for moving forward and adapting. I sure am.

I guess it depends if an east coast shard is open...but I'm not sure which shards are hosted where at this point (other than NA/EU).

Is there a list someplace that tells what servers are located or based in what timezone/country? Other than NA/EU I have not seen anything saying a particular NA shard is west coast or east coast based. I would think how a shard feels based has more to do with the player base than the time listed on the ingame clock. A shard may be 75% west claost players, but physically and time wise be based on the east coast since the information is not readily available. Makes it difficult to know when you are starting up a toon, or choosing a shard to play on, you can't really fault the player for that..
