Hey guys because I was in X guild my opinion on DPS meters is more important than your opinion.
<Ascendant> 13/13 Seastone Defiant
Also, when he said that PRO Meter people don't understand the difference, he clearly didn't mean it literally. We were at that point talking about the lack of effective difference between Parser Meters and DPS meters in vs. out of the game. We all trust you know what an in-game meter looks like
The question was of raid experience. Trust me when I say that I am the most experienced raider posting on these boards, and your guild has absolutely everything to do with that.
Of course, why would I expect you to follow logic? You're too busy victimizing your position while simultaneously dismissing mine by saying YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!! While this might work if you're an emo in high school, I'm going to call you every name in the book if you don't actually provide the reasoning behind it. Parses are run live? What the hell do you think a damage meter is, dip****?
Also, I'd LOVE to hear about your WotLK achievements. Farm that ToC normal DID YA?
Just putting it out there though from the standpoint of someone who hasn't really been in this conversation long... but you sure seem to be using this "high school" etiquette. Can't we stop this flame and get on topic?

Sooo if the parser is running real-time, what is the big issue with that data being available within the game interface? The fact that people who aren't complete sperglords have access to it?

The people who want to keep the meters out of games recognize that log parsing will be in unless sabotaged by the game developer (which almost never happens) and as a result know that the functionality to have real time feedback will be made available.
If you check the thread (I know it's long) you will see time after time people not arguing that parsing is useful, but rather that it needs to not be put into easy reach of every player.
Only those who actually need it should be using parsing.
The best way to ensure this is to use 3rd party programs to parse the combat log (either on real time or after action as desired) . . .
Why should I trust you when you say out of over 30 thousand registered users, you are the most experienced raider? Reeeealllly...How's about we turn it around a bit. Valent? Who the hell are you? Never heard of you in any of my circles and trust me, I'm the most experienced raiders here. If I don't know you, you must have been small time.
Yeah, see how that says absolutely nothing?
Joe Casual does not need a meter.
Steve Raider doesn't need one unless he's working on something very specific.
Bob Theorycrafter can make use of one, but he's tied into the community and will easily be able to download and configure the program.
Sally Raidleader will use a parser to help her run the show.
There've already been compromises suggested for limiting who can use meters in game, or limiting their display to a single number (that covers the 3 roles) for Joe Casual.
