Due to the nature of the problem, we'll be doing some extra testing on a bunch of different versions of Windows operating systems. Assuming all goes well, we'll be making this new client available to everyone via the patcher some time tomorrow - no downtime required. As for technical details: There's nothing too exciting about what changed... We were depending on / reading a particular piece of data that was only set in pre-Windows 8, 64 bit versions of Windows, to determine that we really were running on a 64 bit system. After the update from Microsoft, that piece of data is no longer set / available, which caused the Rift client to think it was running on a 32 bit version of Windows (when it wasn't), resulting in a crash. Our apologies to all those blocked from playing by the update during this time. We'll have you back in game (with Microsoft's update active) soon!
