You will need to take in consideration that since every PC is different, not every step that works for player A will work for player B. Different set ups have different connections, different settings and permissions, and different types of networks. Normally for this error simply creating a new administrative account and patching the client as admin will solve the issue. If this does not solve the issue, you can try the following steps:1. Press the Windows key + R at the same time to bring up your run prompt.2. Type in %appdata% and click ok.3. Delete the Rift folder.4. Revert to the main Rift folder where you installed the game and delete the downloads folder and the riftpatchlive file. (This should remove the “corrupted files” from the Rift folder)5. Then, run the self-patcher (selfpatchlive, found in the RIFT folder) as administrator, and this should help rebuild the client. If the above steps did not help, and you are still receiving the patch loop please try the following below which seems to alleviate most players of this issue.1. Navigate to your RIFT Game folder, located where you installed the game. (Usually C:\Program Files (x86)\RIFT Game)2. Right-click the RIFT Game folder and choose properties.3. Un-check "Read-only" and click apply.4. Make sure you check "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" and click ok.5. Open the RIFT Game folder.6. Right click on the "Download" folder inside and delete it. Next, make sure you don't have anything causing this issue in your hosts file,1. Click the Windows button on the bottom left of your screen.2. Click inside the search bar at the bottom and type in notepad. (Don't press enter)3. Notepad will come back as a search result. Right-click it and choose "Run as administrator"4. Click file > Open5. Go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\6. Make sure you click the file type to "All files" 7. You should now be able to see a file called "hosts". Open this file.8. Delete any line of text in this file that has anything to do with RIFT or the update server.9. Save and close this file. Now attempt to log in and play the game normally and hopefully the looping issue will now be resolved. As always, if the steps provided by myself or another Admin do not help with the issue you are experience please do not hesitate to contact Support. I also encourage any player that has resolved an issue themselves to share with other players and even with our feedback on what issue you had and how you resolved the issue. Knowledge is power so let’s use that to our advantage and enjoy a game together.
