3 x Tank (Cleric, Warrior, Rouge)
6 x Healer (2 Warden, 2 Chloro, 1 Puri, 1 Defiler)
2 x Sub (PyroArchont, Bard)
9 x DD (7 max. ST / 1 Tac (61 Points), 1 Bladedancer)
You need to split your raid into 3 different groups (important für phase 2):
Group 1 = 1 Warden, Puri, 1 Chloro , Bard, 5 DPS (2 Warriors)
Group 2 = 1 Tank (Pala), 1 Warden, 1 Chloro, Archont, Tact, 3 DPS
Group 3 = 2 Tanks (Cleric, Rouge), 1 Defiler I should mentioned that we are not using the Pala/BM Hybrid for Volan and therefore you will not find any information on the BM CD’s in the guide below. If you raid is having a Pala/BM you can use them at the first dispel in phase and then you should use them again when the dispel happens on P3 because they will be still active when you jump into the laser on P4.
It is important that everyone in your raid has around 30k HP – that is not due to phase 1 but in phase 2 your healer will appreciate it.
Here are some speccs for my fellow warriors – click
(sry, that it is in German, but you will understand)
The different abilities of Volan are always getting used by him in the same order. Get it into your brain and it will make your life easier.
The fight is split into two pahses:
1. Phase you will fight against his legs
2. Phase will happen on 4 platforms that you can enter as soon as the two legs and the arm armors are down Phase 1
In this phase you will fight against his two legs. The goal of this is quite easy:
The right/left arm armor and shortly afterwards the respective leg should die as well, therefore:
right arm armor down –> right leg down
left arm armor down -> left leg down Note:
All of my picture are named in acc. to the target names inGame and therefore do not tell you anything about the viewing direction
Position of the raid in phase 1:
Position of the melee camp in phase 1: Abilities in phase 1:
The following emote will inform you what kind of abilities is next used by Volan, so spend attention! Your cities will fall (only in phase 1 on of the fight)
If you hear or read that 2 of the tanks that you have selected prior the fight need to catch the fists with which one Volan will hit the ground. The positions where the fists will come down are marked with a small red void on the ground.
Please do not take the position of the voids in the picture to literally – I did this simply to show you which voids are for which tank. Important for the tanks:
The running route for tank 1 from void 3 -> 5 and the running rout for tank 2 from 2 -> 4 is quite long. You need to position yourself directly at the edge of void 3 respectively void 2 to be able to make it to the next void in time.
Use your CD’s to lower the damage you receive. Important for the Chloros & Puri:
Give each of the tank in this phase synthesis and cross-symbiosis them. The Puri should shield each tank shorty before this events to get the 7% damage reduction on them. Important for the Bard:
The bard need to be positioned in that way that the speedbuffs reaches the tanks even if they are running around behind Voland. Only with the speed buff it will be possible to reach the voids in time.
Important for melee:
If you have the camp as indicated in my picture above your melee just need to rotate with Volans movement. No running is needed. Your lands will burn (in Phase 1 and 2)
Volan will fall down on his knees and hands and will leave a debuff (15 secs duration) on seven different players. Do not under any circumstances use a AOE cleanse! Every time a debuff is cleaned the raid will received quite a bit of damage and therefore always one player after the other. It is really important that the player who takes this job does coordinate the cleaning of the debuff in that way that he never cleanse a debuff when a fist comes down or Volan stamps with one of his feet on the ground.
Warden as well as the Chloros should make sure that everyone is in heal distance to them.
should always put up his core for increasing the resists + armor
. The Tac
should in phase two always support the healers with curative torrent
should always heal pop Monsoon
and should not think of their Mana - Heal as much as you can! The chloros
should switch to group
and assist with the healing and in phase two they should stop healing the matrix and assist as well. The puri
should put a shield
on the raid members that do not have full HP so that the dispels can continue. As for the person that does the dispel, do not dispel if anyone of your group is <70 % HP. The cleansing should work as follows:
Cleansing -> Group heal -> Cleansing -> Group heal -> Cleansing -> Group heal -> and so on Extinction awaits you (in Phase 1 and 2)
Every palyer in your raid will have a red bubble around himself. The bubbles itself can touch each other but you should not touch another player with yours. If you are too close to each other you will receive more damage and will be knocked backwards. The ability can be broken down in the following steps:
1. Bubble appears
2. Rocket will impact
3. Bubble is still there
4. Rocket will impact again
After the fourth step of this ability the mechanic stops and you can gather up again.
The first time this mechanic will appear after you have seen two times the fists.
Always two warriors can stack on each other because with – way of the mountain – they are immune to the knock back. They will only receive a bit more damage but will make your life easier in phase 2. Volan propels a burst of energy towards <player> (only in phase 1):
If a player gets called out the player needs to run to the right/left power cell to get into the protective blue void. While you fight against the right leg you should use the right power cell for this mechanic.
The blue void gets activated by getting the power cell to 0 % HP. You should select two players that will deal with the cell and they always prepare the cell while no one gets called out in that way that as soon as someone get named the cell will be easily drop to 0 %. But be careful with it – the void is only a limited time active and if you get it to fast to 0% the void will be away before the energy ball will hit it.
This mechanic is essential for the fight in phase 1 because as soon as 3 energy balls hit the right/left cell the respective armor will also fall down. As soon as the armor went down you should also have killed the leg. Abilities without any Emote: Leg Stomp:
Volan will lift either the right or the left leg and stomp on the ground before him. This is a quite easy
The stomp has an initial damage component as well as it will leave a debuff on the group. In phase 1 the stomp will be shortly after the first extinction and therefore your healers need to get the group to max health again. Important for the add-tank (cleric).
While in phase one there will be 3 big adds spawning. You should make absolutely sure to get the aggro right away because the fight itself is really heal intensive and therefore the two wardens will make your life hell. The big adds needs to be killed by AOE (bladedancer) and as soon as they are kill they will fall apart into smaller adds. These adds should not be killed by any AOE. Instead the adds should be pulled into the red stomp void. As soon as the leg hits the small adds they are going to die and will leave a debuff on the leg that increases the damage it receives - max stack 10.
I assume now that you are still alive at this point and therefore will continue with phase 2. :P
As soon as the right/left armor and right/left leg are down porter (indicated on the picture above) will spawn. You need to run to one of them and get beamed up onto the platforms above your head.
We are always using the porter that is indicated in the picture and each following picture or explanation will assume you took the same one.
If you used the indicated porter you will be now on platform 1.
The indication of the leg is just there so that you know where you are on the map. The legs you did kill already. :P
Build-up of platform 1:
Abilities in phase 2: Your lands will burn
same as in phase 1 Extinction awaits you
same as in phase 1 Plants:
On each of the platforms will be some plants spawning. They have a circle around them that will get bigger. Do not step into it or touch it. If you follow that easy rule you will not have any problems with them. Good to know is that if Volan uses extinction and there are plants on the platform they are not going to hurt you anymore – apart from that get out of them. Wisp:
On each platform will be spawning five wisps – all of your players )apart from the tanks) need to stay away from them. The Wisps will only attack player that are to close. Important for the tanks:
If a Wisp does hit you Volan will receive damage as well. Just be careful not to aggro to many at the same time because they can easily kill a tank.
The tanks should hit or get hit by e each of the wisp because this will trigger the despawn timer. Halo:
This is blue void on each platform that will expand from the middle to the outside of the platform and back to the middle. Each player will receive damage once the player gets hit from the void while it is going form the middle to the outside and then again when the void goes back to the middle. It works the same way as the skill Wave of renewal.
It is important that your healers understand how Halo works. The first tick will drop the raid to 20% and then the healers will have approx. 4 secs to get the raid up to 100% again. Arm Swipe
Volan will swipe with one of his arms over two platforms – either 1/4 or 2/3.
Do not stand on the platforms he swipes over or you will be kicked down and die. Beam:
This beam will always be happening before he uses the arm swipe – either on 1/4 or 2/3 and good to know is that it will be on the opposite side of the arm swipe. Example:
Beam on platform 1 and 4 --- afterwards will be arm swipe on 2 and 3
While the beam is happening on the other platforms you will also receive damage on your platforms, heal through it.
Witness true power + Matrix shield:
This mechanic will kill the complete raid if not avoided by having the protective shield of the matrix up of the platform you are standing on. The shield get activated by getting the matrix to 100% HP.
The matrix is located in the middle of each platform – the matrix need to be prepared beforehand (90% to 95% HP) so that you can make sure that as soon as the emote is showing up the rest of the healing only need a couple of seconds. Be careful not to get the matrix too early to full health because the shield is only active for a short while and if to early activated the shield disappears before the AOE damage occurred. Volan shouts, “Resistance only delays the inevitable”
After you have witnessed true power and survived it Volan will be exhausted and will fall on his keens and hands. This is the time when your DPS should be standing already on the jump field indicated in the picture that will get you on his back. As soon as you are on his back you need to run between his shoulders to receive a buff that will increase the damage that you do to him.
All of your DPS should save up their personal CD’s for this moment.
Six seconds before Volan gets up again you should start running from is back over his right are to platform 2 – be careful not to touch the jumping field on P2 that will bring you back on the his back. Enough explained, now I will write down who the fight goes. P1:
Attack first his right leg and get damage on it. As soon as you read/hear the emote – Your cities will fall – the two prior the fight selected tanks need to catch each of the fists that are coming down. It is important to be aware of is that also either of the tanks can be the target of the ball of energy and due to this the third tank need to be aware of both running route to catch the fists. The player that get called out with the emote - Volan propels a burst of energy towards <player> - need to get to the beforehand prepared power cell. Make sure that you match the handling of the energy balls with your raid dps – it will be necessary to leave people out of the cell and by doing so they will be rooted and receive have damage. The healers need to be aware of it and make sure that the player survives. Your add-tank need to get the aggro of all the adds right away and need to manage a bit the crushing of the smaller adds because it is quite useless to get the adds crushed if the right leg only has 5 % health left – save them for the left leg.
The most important part of this phase is the management of the energy balls and the cleansing of the debuff that gets placed on 7 raid members. As soon as the right/left armor and the right/left leg is down get as fast as possible to the porter and get to platform 1.
It's also quite useful during the cleaning having the pala tank and the puri using their 10 man heal CD’s to support the healers. Important
You want to avoid that the transition from phase 1 and phase 2 is disturbed by either the Fiists or extinction. It might be necessary to stop the damage (completely) on the last leg. Just wait for the mechanic to be over and then kill the leg. P2:
Now the fun begins! :P
Really important to know is that the first Extinction that you will encounter in phase 2 is combined with Halo and therefore massive raid damage will occur.
If you hear the command to jump you need to follow it right away
even if it means that you need to run thourgh a plant. If you jump to late it might happen that you receive the first tick of Halo on the old platform.
As soon as you arrive on platform 1 you will encounter the first Halo of your life. Your healers really need to understand who halo works otherwise you are not going to survive it. Halo will get each member of the group down to 20% HP and before the next tick of it comes the healers need to have the raid back to 100%. Therefore the first tick need to be healed with burst and the second one does not require any burst healing. The raid member can support the healers with their on shield CD’s or a health potion. Already now also the first matrix on P1 needs to be prepared for the later AOE damage. As a guideline you should get into the brain of your healers: Always the matrix of the platform you are on need to be prepared without neglecting healing the group. Name one of your healers to be the one that will inform the rest when to stop preparing the matrix and when to top it to a 100%.
Important is that neither the puri nor the palatank will use their 10 man CD’s for the here. Your raid will need them later on in the fight.
If you survive the first halo you will see the beam happening on P2/P4 and as soon as the beam is over and the void is away (needs a bit of timing), the whole raid (grp 1/2/3) will jump on P2.
Have someone in your Raid that will announce when the whole raid will jump to a different platform.
Have someone in Group 1 & 3 that will announce when the respective group will jump to their platform.
As soon as you have arrived on P2 the tank should get in touch with the Wisps to do a bit of damage on Volan, but be careful not to die while you are on the wisps. The selected person of group 1 need to keep an eye on P1 to be able to see when the arm swipe did happen and as soon as it is over he needs to give the command to jump on P1 at the same time Group 3 should jump to P3.
Spread out because Extinction and Halo will be coming now.
A good way to deal with it:
As soon as the first hit of extinction happened (impact of the rocket) the puri
should use the group shield
. At the same time you need to time the pala
(group 2) and puri
(group 1) group heal CD
in that way that it heals players right before the second rocket has its impact so that the heal CD is still up 2 to 3 seconds after this hit because then the nasty halo hit will be coming. Since group 2 has no puri on the platform the Tac
should use his 61 point skill
where the puri uses the group shield.
As soon as extinction is over everyone should meet at platform 2 because now the cleansing will happen again. Also at this point the plants will appear on the platforms – mind the voids and you will be good. The next thing is the jump of all members of the raid to P1 and there now the AOE Cast will happen. I hope your healers did their job and the matrix is prepared as mentioned above – as soon as the emote appears you need to start to get the matrix to 100% to be able to survive the AOE cast. After the cast is over the matrix healer should jump on P2 to get the healing on this matrix started. Your DPS should get ready to jump on the back of volan and run as soon as they are on it between the shoulders to receive the damage buff.
It is quite hard to see when you have received the buff therefore here is a kalert for it:
KA:IG - Volan:aRHTMeNotjcEKwjAQRP9IU9JWYU6iDXjxUOItILGNuLSmxd0e+vemQR4DM7Owg wIW8+jX8MVmLQxOCzN1b+F5iYMgTjFApatJqERLL8HFi9+7+9X5J40k64O6KbLjD0modn3POOoDK l2jKMssnV7g3Nxs026uyGiVR/91TnWeMT/+uC45
While your are on the back of Volan always have an eye on the duration of that particular phase, as soon as there are about 6 seconds left you need to leave the back over his right arm – now you are on P2.
Tipp for my fellow warriors – pop Alacrity and rotate your normal burst and as soon as it is nearly over you pop fleet of foot. With that active you will not have problem to get in time off his back.
If you come down from his arm, you need to spend attention to the jumping field on P2 – DO NOT touch it. As soon as you are on P2 everyone should gather up gain on P1. You will see now the beam happening again on P2/P3. As soon as this one is over everyone need to jump to P2 because now the arm swipe will be happing on P1/P4. As soon as that happened the Group 2 need to jump again on P1 and the group 3 to P3. Spread out because extinction will be there again.
After that extinction everyone need to go to P2 and get the matrix as soon as you see the Emote to 100% because the AOE damage will happen again (as always keep away from the plants).
As soon as the cast is over the matrix healers should jump to P3 and at the same time the DD jump on the back and do their part again. The rest of the raid should also jump to P3 and as soon as the DD run off the arm (P2) they should also get to P3.
You have to deal with the cleansing again and one more thing that will make your life a bit harder.
If you have a look now on P1/P4 you will see the beam happening and as soon as the beam is over you need to jump to P4 into the void that is on the ground. While you are on the fly you need to pop any CD you have left to be able to survive.
Pala / Puri = Heal CD
Rouge Tank = + HP
Puri = Shields
and whatever is left
As soon as the arm swipe on P2/P3 happened the group 1 need to jump back to P3 and the group 3 need to jump to P1 – extinction time! Spread out and survive.
After the second hit of extinction happened you need to get as fast as possible to P3 and get there the matrix to 100% as soon as the emote is shown. After this is over your DD’s jump on last time on Voalns back and everything went well you kill him during this phase.
If not everything went well and you are not going to kill him in this part of the fight you need to get off his back as usual and everyone gathers up on P1. Volan will be from now on enraged and therefore do not cleanse anymore (everything will be now a one-shot) just heal whatever you can because the beam is happening on P2/P3. After the beam jump to P2 and hope that you are going to kill him now!
Here is a small overview who needs to jump when:
