    Default <2.5> 61 Tempest 15 Riftblade 0 Paragon 'updated'

    Now that everything seems to have settled for 61 Tempest I'm reposting Guide with all the corrections/suggestions from previous thread.

    61 Tempest is a purely ranged ST/lighAoE dps spec.

    The spec: 61 Tempest / 15 Riftblade / 0 Paragon

    Point Allocation:

    61 Tempest - full

    15 Riftblade -

    5/5 Elemental Precision
    2/2 Surging Energy
    3/3 Elemental Empowerment
    5/5 Affinity

    Pargon: 0

    This first set of macros/rotations are mine from PTS. I use this rotation due to the fact I now have it memorized and feels smooth to me. If you are just picking up 61 tempest I suggest using the second macro/rotation set as its much easier. I have not extensively tested the second as it was just posted today(thank you Twohandz). From trying it, it seems a lot easier/smoother (no clipping torrent) but if I'm not mistaken it pushes Wavelength back 3 to 5 seconds on second and subsequent usage? Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Macros:

    Macro 1: Opener

    #show Delayed Pulse
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Electricity Cascade
    cast Dual Pulse
    cast Delayed Pulse

    Macro 2: Wavelength block

    #show Wavelength
    cast Wavelength
    cast Charged Pulse
    cast Double Pulse

    Macro 3: Arc

    #show Arc
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Arc
    cast Focused Fire

    Macro 4: Charged Pulse

    #show Electricty Blast
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Charged Pulse
    cast Double Pulse
    cast Flamespear
    cast Electricity Blast

    Macro 5: Dual Pulse

    #show Shock Pulse
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Dual Pulse
    cast Shock Pulse

    Macro 6: Torrent

    #show Lightning Torrent
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Delayed Pulse
    cast Lightning Torrent

    Rotation w/macros:

    1. Macro 1x3 -> Macro 3x1
    2. Macro 2x3 -> Arc -> Macro 2x3 -> Icy Burst -> Macro 2x3 -> Electricity Cascade -> Macro 6x2*
    3. Macro 3x1 -> Macro 4x3 -> Skyfall -> Macro 5x2 -> Electricity Cascade -> Macro 6x2**
    4. Macro 3x1 -> Macro 4x3 -> Skyfall

    Rotation order:

    1. Rotation 1x1 ->
    2. Rotation 2x1 ->
    3. Rotation 3x2 ->
    4. Rotation 4x1 -> Repeat 2 through 4 until boss is dead.

    Rotation by ability:

    1. Electricity Cascade -> Dual Pulse -> Delayed Pulse -> Arc -> Focused Fire
    2. Wavelength -> (Charged -> Double)x3 -> Arc -> (Charged -> Double)x3 -> Icy Burst -> (Charged/Double)x3 -> Electricity Cascade -> Delayed Pulse -> Lightning Torrent (clip at 3 attack points)
    3. Arc -> Focused Fire -> Charged Pulse - Double Pulse -> Flamespear -> Electricity Blast -> Skyfall -> Dual Pulse -> Shock Pulse -> Electricity Cascade -> Delayed Pulse/Lightning Torrent(clip lightning torrent at 3 attack points when Delayed Pulse is available/else full channel)
    4. Arc -> Focused Fire -> Charged Pulse -> Double Pulse -> Flamespear -> Electricity Blast -> Skyfall

    * Clip Lightning Torrent at 3 attack points
    **Clip Lightning Torrent at 3 attack points(full channel when Delayed Pulse is on cooldown.)

    I realize that this looks pretty intimidating as far as a rotation goes but its not as bad as it looks. Opening rotation is 2 macros(2 button). Wavelength rotation is 2 macros + arc/icyburst + EC (5 button). Rotation 3 is the meat of the rotation (6 button). Rotation 4 is simply the first half of rotation 3.

    This Rotation (above) lines up wavelength every minute.

    Alternate Rotation: Credit to Twohandz<addiction guild>

    Macros:

    Macro1:

    #show Delayed Blast
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Focused Fire
    cast Electricity Cascade
    cast Dual Pulse
    cast Delayed Pulse
    cast Shock Pulse

    Macro2:

    #show Wavelength
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Wavelength
    cast Charged Pulse
    cast Double Pulse

    Macro3:

    #show Electricity Blast
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Charged Pulse
    cast Double Pulse
    cast Flamespear
    cast Electricity Blast

    Rotation w/macros:

    1. Macro1x3 -> Arc
    2. Macro 2x3 -> Arc -> Macro 2x3 -> Icy Burst -> Macro 2x3
    3. Repeat 1
    4. Macro 3x3 -> Skyfall
    5. Lightning Torrent ->

    Repeat 1, 4, 5 while Wavelength is on cooldown.

    Rotation by Ability:

    1. Focused Fire -> Electricity Cascade -> Dual Pulse -> Delayed Pulse (shock pulse when DP is on cooldown) -> Arc
    2. Wavelength -> (Charged/Double)x3 -> Arc -> (Charged/Double)x3 -> Icy Burst -> (Charged/Double)x3
    3. <same as 1>
    4. Charged Pulse -> Double Pulse -> Flamespear -> Electricity Cascade -> Skyfall
    5. Lightning Torrent ->

    Repeat 1, 4, 5 while wavelength is on cooldown.

    This rotation provides for a lot less keybinds, and smoother play(no clipping LT). The only thing I noticed is wavelength reuse is pushed back several seconds? Limited testing, correct me if I'm wrong.

    I suggest using Twohandz rotation if you're new or not already used to mine.

    Thank you for posting your rotation for us to have available Twohandz!

    Tips and Notes:

    61 Tempest is a 'burst' dps spec. The bursts comes from 2 sources, Arc and Wavelength. Arc is a burst incorporated into the main rotation and is not something you have to worry overly about tracking(unless saving for a burn phase <ie. Kaliban/Proteus>).

    Arc burn phase usage - knowing when a burn phase is about to happen, you'll want to try not to use arc in the 14 seconds prior to burn phase. I suggest replacing arc with skyfall if you know burn phase is incoming within the next 14 seconds. Usually in a raid setting, you'll either know (kaliban - 55 seconds into fight, eggtenders first egg spawns 1:20) or have someone call out (6th tether on Proteus) when the burn phase is going to happen. If possible replace any Arc in rotation with Skyfall within 14 seconds of burn phase so you can use the following burst:

    Arc - <(focused fire if available) -> wavelength -> charged/double x3 -> arc - charged/double x3 -> icy burst -> charged double x3

    This is your maximum burst potention during a burn phase. Having arc available prior to starting wavelength during burst will be a dps gain over using it normally in the 14 seconds prior to burn phase.

    Wavelength burst usage - Here is where we need to do some research/communicating. Talk to your archon prior to any fight you want to use 61 Tempest on and find out when they plan to use Flaring Power. If the answer is 'right way' then you don't have to change anything. If the answer is say, kaliban first stun, or first set of Eggs on eggtenders, or stun phase on proteus, then we need to account for timing our wavelength with raid cooldowns <mainly Flaring power, but honestly raids tend to put up all cooldown raid buffs during flaring power as well so we try to have wavelength available for this>.

    Tips based on my experience so far:

    Kaliban - Stun phase at 55ish seconds. What I do is ask for a 5 second countdown on pull, when I get that I fire Arc - focused fire - Wavelength (important to fire in this order so wavelength resets arc and focused fire), wait a second or 2 for tank to grab agro and spam what's left of wavelength till it ends <charged/double spam>. Then drop into rotation following wavelength as normal. I suggest, if for any fight, that if you plan to use wavelength on pull you notify your tank of this. It is not only possible, but quite likely that you'll pull boss off tank if not careful. So having your tank prepared for that could very well save your life. Also don't forget about feign death if the boss doesn't appear to be going back to tank.

    Eggtenders: - If Flaring will be used on first set of eggs when they spawn (1:20 into fight) what I do is simply run rotations normally (using wavelength after opening rotation as normal) on first eggtender.. then when its ready at around 1:05 into fight I simply save it for Flaring power/eggs to spawn. After that just do rotations normally. (if moving to next eggtender and its out of range, pop storm torrent when running to aoe eggs/adds, that should give you time to get in range of next eggtender)

    Proteus: - We are currently in progression on Proteus, so this may not apply for you depending on how fast you get the first 6 tethers on Proteus. Due to the fact we're still a bit slow on first set of tethers, I use wavelength normally in rotation and simply burn down the first Construct and hunter with it, then save it after that for first burn phase on Proteus.

    Just talk to your archon if using 61 tempest on raids. Notify your tank if starting an encounter with wavelength already running.

    Yes that is correct, Electricity Blast in place of my mistake 'electricity cascade' in line 4 of Twohandz rotation breakdown by skill.

    Similarly in other parts you have Macro 3 once.

    Also as is it seems like you are doing intentional 2 point combos? Is that to keep the rotation tight for wavelength cooldown or am I missing something?

    When I was using your previous rotation and macros I felt like I got it to work by using the macro for arc and ff twice and we weren't clipping combo points at 2.

    Can you please confirm the number of uses of macro is intended and where my confusion is?

    Thanks!

    Hey,

    I would suggest that the delayed pulse gets applied before the the dual pulse has been used. With this you ensure that one tick of arc in the wavelength rotation gets eaten by it. Delayed hits harder than charged/double.

    You just need to swap the order within your marco 1 to change that.

    In the German community we came up with the follwoing rotation:
    The rotation will get you a bit later to the wavelength block but it feels really smooth and at least I had with the Block 1 of the roation the highest DPS - if only used while waiting for the burst phase.

    Since Arc hits three times, delayed pulse will still take 1 tick from it even if you use it after dual pulse, since delayed will hit before skyfall. The reason to do dual pulse first is so you get the strength bonus up from tempest crystal.

    Hey,

    I was not talking about the skyfall part. I meant the opener -> bust combination.
    There delayed will most likely not take a tick from arc.

    If you go form opener to the normal block (leaving burst out):
    1. Electricity Cascade -> Dual Pulse -> Delayed Pulse -> Arc -> Focused Fire
    3. Charged Pulse - Double Pulse -> Flamespear -> Electricity Blast -> Skyfall

    You are right that one tick will be taken by Arc but not at the other combination. And since changing the marco will not have in effect on the - opener -> normal part - but an impact on - the opener -> burst part - I still think changing the marco is a better way.

    LIthium1,

    Off Global Cooldown abilities are supposed to fire when listed last within a macro even if a gcd ability was used prior within the macro, with 1 press. Perhaps I'm mistaken as you are right, I just tested and it takes 2 presses to fire both arc and focused fire. Perhaps I'm thinking of reactive ogcd's that fire with just 1 press <ability fires + reactive/ogcd below it within macro>.

    You are correct, macro 3 (arc/focused fire) will require 2 presses to fire both. I guess I mash my keys so much I didn't notice this, thank you for pointing it out.

    I do not know where you're finding a 2 point combo? There is a mistake here:

    Electricity Blast in place of my mistake 'electricity cascade' in line 4 of Twohandz rotation breakdown by ability.

    This was a typo. All other combos appear to be 3 point in both rotations listed. Remember dual pulse awards 2 attack points. Double awards no attack points. All appear to be 3 attack point combos with the exception of my mistake listed above.. replace EC with EB and it is correct and 3 ap combo.

    Clipping lightning torrent is only to line up delayed pulse with arc in my rotations. You only clip LT if delayed pulse is cast prior. If delayed pulse is not available channel LT fully. Either way you should end up with 3 attack points.

    As far as how many times to press each macro, just remember that you are not using any finisher without 3 attack points in either rotation. You are correct, macro 3 will require 2x to fire both arc and focused fire.

    RePyH,

    In my rotation I use Dual Pulse before Delayed Pulse to get oscillation up for dmg bonus for delayed pulse. You are correct that it is very close as far as missing an arc tick: Delayed Pulse (1.5s gcd) - arc/focused (1.5s gcd) - wavelength/charged/double (1.5s gcd) = 4.5seconds, Delayed Pulse erupts at 5 seconds. This is only an issue for the first time through, going into wavelength. My opening rotation is not used past initial use. Twohandz is used throughout but he has flamespear and electricity blast padding timer (these 2 skills do not eat arc ticks) when not leading into wavelength spam.

    The only time this is an issue is when leading into wavelength spam, which if delayed isn't fired in time we are replacing the arc tick eaten with a second charged pulse. The dmg between DP and CP is of course there, but minimal. From all my parsing I can also say, 90% of the time charged pulse crits at a higher rate than delayed pulse. I considered this problem a non issue due to the added dmg of oscillation on first delayed pulse and higher crit rate of charged pulse.

    You can certainly move delayed pulse ahead of dual pulse in macro 1 in both rotations, but it will fire delayed pulse without full stacks of oscillation up starting an encounter that way (unless you turn away from mobs and fire storm torrent within 15 seconds of encounter starting, this will give you full stacks of oscillation for 15 seconds before encounter starts.)

    To be honest, compared to Twohandz rotation, my rotation is a train wreck. This is due to PTS testing and adjusting, adding in suggestions and fixes posted in original thread, and flopping stuff around to account for wavelength bug not resetting arc. This is why I recommend, if not already used to my rotation, to use Twohandz rotation. I created macros according to Twohandz rotation, as none were provided, based on what I imagined he/she would have.

    These are only guides. They are not meant to be copied and used exactly or the spec doesn't work. I encourage everyone to tailor both macros and rotations to their personal playstyles. The guides are mainly to show how the spec works overall and how to time certain abilities together efficiently. This is one of our more complex souls. There are a lot of abilities and two different timers to think about <arc and wavelength> when setting down a rotation.

    Unfortunately the wavelength bug not resetting arc is still on PTS so I can't run different rotations effectively to figure out the optimal rotations/macros. So I've included a couple options, one fairly hard to follow <mine> and one that I found a lot easier/less keybinding to use<twohands>. No clue if there is any dps difference between the two.

    I'm not the best guidewriter to be sure. I have no trouble seeing what soul combinations should work, but I am not perfect at making optimized rotations. I always ask for assistance from the community to help optimize a rotation when I find a viable spec. So keep the suggestions/improvements coming.

    I rewrote the guide so people wouldn't have to read through 8 confusing pages in the previous guide to maybe find a working rotation due to changes/wl bug. I by no means can say this is optimized until wavelength is fixed on PTS and more testing can be done.

    Correct, forgot about that also. Dual Pulse is used prior to Delayed Pulse to activate tempest crystal strength bonus for opening rotation.

    I currently I'm not at home so I cannot start the game and check but I was under the impression that Oscillation only gets triggerd by

    - Lightning Torrent
    - Storm Torrent (no target required)
    - Charged Pulse

    Are you certain that Dual also applies the buff?

    Would it not be better to get your dots up first? Like Eb and FS, so they are ticking during the first WL should be a decent dps increase.

    And also you are not using a CP before the WL goes off, You could open with this

    CP/DP - FS - EB - EC
    DaulP - DelP - ARC
    Then use WL - etc from this point onwards and go into rotation?

    Just tested this, and the dots are about the same as a lightning torrent, But once you add in CP/DP it pushes is a lot higher. Yes it is one gcd more than a lightning torrent channel, but you can precast CP when the countdown to pull comes, so you can nulify the first gcd.

    Careful with the LT clipping Zevus. It has a tendency to lag and jack things up more often than not. Same thing goes for "Twohandz" supposed rotation. Only difference being with his is that running LT it's full duration runs the risk of pushing Arc and CP back a GCD every block. It works on the dummy and all, but just be aware it differs in a raid setting and should probably be annotated.

    @Weenz, that's only going to work for an opener and won't matter in the grand scheme. Also, you're probably going to let EC drop during WL for about 4-6s so all that awesomeness you just did means ****.
