    Default Tempest Solo Hybrid

    Tempest Solo Hybrid

    41 Tempest / 31 Paragon / 4 Warlord

I had posted this before, have since refined it a bit and decided to post it again. I know there's a similar Tempest hybrid guide out there, but it focuses on ranged damage -- this is a different perspective. This is not an AOE farming spec at all, though it can be done. Other builds with heavy investments in Champion are going to do it faster. Finally, compared to something like 61RB/4+WL, I feel this does a little better single target damage, has less ramp up time, and better survival options. 61RB is an excellent solo spec and going to give better AOE, however, I prefer the way this spec plays -- just a matter of personal preference.

This spec should be played using the Paragon Synergy crystal.

    Buffs:
Way of the Sun – Self heal
    Recovery Posture – Self heal
    Close Training - +10% damage / -10% incoming melee
    Enhanced Conductivity - Increased damage
    Empower – Increased ranged damage
Focus of Body - +70 strength

    Macros:
    1
    #show delayed pulse
    Suppressmacrofailures
    Cast delayed pulse
    Cast rising waterfall
    Cast death touch
    Cast shock pulse
(Cast shield of will) - Optional

    2
    #show arc
    Suppressmacrofailures
    Cast double pulse
    Cast arc
    Cast tranquility
    Cast charged pulse
    Cast electricity blast
    (Cast jolt) - Optional

    Heal
    #show Storm shield
    Suppressmacrofailures
    Cast Storm shield
    Cast jolt

    Heal 2 (Optional)
    #show Shield of Will
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Shield of Will
    cast Jolt

    Separate keybinds:
    Skyfall
    Lightning Torrent
    Flurry
    Thread the Trees
    Sweeping Blades
    Shock Pulse

    So here’s how it’s played:

Open with Lightning Torrent > Skyfall
    Macro 1 until 3 AP
Macro 2 until Electricity Blast fires
    Skyfall > Lightning Torrent

So what does this look like?

    Lightning Torrent > Skyfall
Delayed Pulse > Rising Waterfall > Death Touch
Arc > (Delayed Pulse) Tranquility > Charged Pulse > Double Pulse > Electricity Blast
    Skyfall > Lightning Torrent

The second loop around the Macro 1 part goes: Rising Waterfall > Death Touch > Rising Waterfall.

If you’re at range, the rotation doesn’t change, just the skills cast.

The timing on this is a little tight, but it works – as long as you don’t hesitate for any reason and do Macro 1 x3 then cast Arc, Delayed Pulse will proc Arc once it detonates. If your latency is bad, then you may want to put Delayed on a separate keybind to cast just before Arc.

For AOE, the rotation doesn’t change, just turn on Sweeping Blades. You can absolutely pull a ton of stuff and grind it down without dying, just not as fast as Warlord/Champion can.

Survival tips: First thing to remember is your 2 shields do NOT stack and do NOT overwrite each other. You can go two ways with it: 1) Put a shield in the spam macro and one out of the macro for alternate and less keybinds. The downside to this is that even with paying attention to cooldowns you may still burn a shield; 2) Have two separate shield/jolt macros and manage them that way. I prefer this method myself.

You may or may not put Jolt in one of the spam macros. On the one hand you make sure that HoT is always going, on the other hand, if it's not needed you might start to power starve. You could also macro Jolt with Flurry for emergencies as listed below.

In emergencies, pop Flurry and Lightning Torrent back to back – each tick of those channels will trigger Recovery Posture for a pretty big burst of healing. Either hit Jolt before the first cast or macro it to Flurry then do Flurry > LT to make sure you have ticks of Jolt throughout.

    Eg:
    #show Flurry
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Jolt
    cast Flurry

I dual wield but there's not really a benefit over 2H, whatever has the best stats that you can get your hands on is the best.
