    Default Quick Necromancer Guide

This is for the new update for Necromancer.
This guide will show you the new rotations with Necromancer, the macros are long but have a design to them.
My guide focuses on the Mage's personal damage, while Illuyanka's 3.1 Necromancer guide is about the Pet dealing the damage, both versions deal about the same amount of damage.
Though warning mistakes could be present.

    Best Spec:
    61 Necromancer, 11 Warlock, 4 Harbinger

    Alternative Spec:
    61 Necromancer, 11 Warlock, 4 Stormcaller - Non Harbinger

    Masteries:
    Level 61 - Arcanist's Shield
    Level 62 - Healing Expertise
    Level 63 - Combat Alacrity
    Level 64 - Sparking Destruction
    Level 65 - Ethereal Flux

    Buffs:
    Bone Armor
    Lightning Charge

    Pet Buffs:
    Infection
    Soul Bond

    Pets:
    Tank:
    Greater Skeletal Knight

    Damage:
    ST Greater Skeletal Zealot
    AoE Shadow Revenant

    Rotation:
Use the Ethereal Blast macro provided to deal damage.

Keep Essence Link, Necrosis and Dark Touch active refreshing at 0s.
Keep Possession and Mass Grave on cooldown.

After Possession's duration is over use the Mass Grave macro provided.
Then go back to the Ethereal Blast macro.

Use Lich Form after you cast Essence Link at the start of the rotation.
Then only right after you cast Mass Grave.
You can also use Lich Form ~12s before Possession comes off cooldown.

Do not use Bone Frenzy or Empty the Crypts during the rotation.
Do not use Possession with the Greater Skeletal Knight pet.

    Greater Skeletal Zealot Possession Rotation:
Use the Jagged Wound macro provided.

Keep Essence Link, Necrosis and Dark Touch active refreshing at 0s.

    Shadow Revenant Possession Rotation:
    Use the Possession macro provided.

Once Oblivion and Ruination are on cooldown use the Master's Rage macro once.
Then go back to using the Possession macro.

Keep Essence Link, Necrosis and Dark Touch active refreshing at 0s.

    Starting Rotation:
Have Contaminate active and use Putrify ~5s before combat.

    Without Raid Cooldowns:
Essence Link > Necrosis > Dark Touch > Possession
Mass Grave macro > Ethereal Blast macro

    With Raid Cooldowns:
Essence Link > Necrosis > Dark Touch > Reaper's Touch
Draining Bolt > Last Gasp > Parasite > Ethereal Blast > Possession
Mass Grave macro > Ethereal Blast macro

Do you know that casting Bone Frenzy in Possession increases the damage of both your pet and regular skills? I always put it in my Possession macro for the increased damage.

Bone Frenzy doesn't work during Possession, all it does it cost you 50 charge, and it doesn't increase your damage.

Bone Frenzy will only increase the damage of your Greater Skeletal Zealot or Shadow Revenant, does not affect pets from Mass Grave.
However pet damage is not worth it, using Lich Form is much better.

, just wanted to point out that your kalert has ignite in it, and this is definitely not the ele build.

Sorry, that was terse. Thanks for the hard work on all your guides. I attached my Kalert in the spoiler. This build is really solid in pug experts, as it can help a fresh tank or heals get through, puts up competitive dps, and has a purge. I think it is a great starting point for a lot of fresh 60's, as it is easy to play but teaches many of the mechanics you need to know for our more complicated builds.

If the double GCD does get fixed this week what will you do with this guide. Change it to the Ele spec? Because I don't think Lock would be worth it after that. back to ele for sustained pet damage instead of the Possession Burst.

    1. Place your cursor over a damage or heal ability.
    2. Look at the values.
    3. Go into Possession and press Bone Frenzy.
    4. OPEN your eyes and look at the values again.
    5. You are forgiven.

Hey, thanks for making another guide since support doesnt seem to answer my request to edit it. But I still think the 13 ele 2 lock is still worth mentioning, since it does almost the same dps (minimal difference). The difference is that the damage comes mainly from the pet, and with 11 lock the damage comes from the mage, and the charge management is a lot easier on the 13 ele spec.

Also might want to take off standard skills from possession macro since the gcd is gonna be applied now. I really hope red hawk reconsiders this. We don't need nerfs to an already low dps soul.

Thanks again for posting a cuide without as many mistakes as mine.

If you do get the rights to edit you should complete your guide, it's nice to have another view point, and you might be able to improve it past my own guide.

Thanks for the guide. I always find your guides really useful.

If I'm running the Stormcaller variant, is there any point to working in Raging Storm?

Hey, I finally updated my guide and corrected the mistakes. I specified the damage of my spec comes from the pet, and added a link yo your guide, specifying most damage comes from the mage. I'd appreciate if you did the same.
