Default Thanks for the exploit Trion!

Two of my past three matches in Whitefall Steppes a team has had a tank bring the core to their base where they sat with a large number of healers and did not capture. They continued this until thirty seconds were left on the timer and then captured bringing the score up 0 to 1.

It's pretty much impossible to defend against once the tank has the first capture. There needs to be a debuf that prevents the same player from picking up twice too quickly, and puts a ticking healing received debuf on the player.

    Default Hilarity

IMO, it makes for a more interesting wf. What would make it epic, though, is if people would actually communicate and work together (gasp) to find a way to overcome it, rather than spewing salt about how it's a terrible thing to do. Adapt.

Mind you, I like a challenge rather than the boring I CAN PEW PEW HARDER THAN YOU therefore I win.

There is literally no way to overcome it with role swapping. Idc if everyone on your team swaps to dps you aren't killing a tank with 10 healers sitting on their spawn point

We actually did try this leaving only a couple healers to keep group alive. We all targeted tank. Needless to say it did not work.

Where does it say that this method is forbidden? Unless it does say so somewhere, it's not an exploit.

Sure, it may be boring if nothing happens for the rest of the match, but not an exploit, unless stated otherwise by Trion.

And this is the reason the core in WF should have the same mechanic as the fang in BG and the runic vessels in Library.

By definition this is an exploit. Probably not one that could result in punishment, but one that should be fixed.

At the very least, it is a terrible mechanic that should be changed.

except that I literally have overcome it with role swapping.

not every time, but often enough.
the last time being today. we ended up losing that match anyway *shrug*. at least we lost it the old fashioned way.

this is the elephant in the room that Cupcakey refuses to address in her own posts on this subject.

it isn't the guy holding the stone, or even the fact that he is a tank.
it is the heals and cross heals. the problem exists or has the potential to exist in every match of every map - though for various reasons its rare to see such an overwhelming number of healers on a team as we see in these whitefalls. yet we have all seen other matches on other maps where excessive cross healing has reduced the game to a standoff healfest.

this problem needs to be addressed as a whole, not just this one outlier manifestation of the problem.

If healing were the issue, they could just go ahead and do this in the middle, no?

    No.

Healers can be overcome with focus fire and assist-trains. Focus one healer, wait for every other healer to start mass-cross-healing, then switch and burst. Repeat as necessary. This will work in the middle.

It will not work, however, if it happens right in front of the enemy spawn, where slain healers need only run 10 meters forward to start healing the tank again.

The longer this mechanic stays in place, the better teams will get at taking advantage of it. Maybe they'll keep the carrier in front of the spawn itself, but out of line-of-sight of the core. Maybe they'll use a second tank to start pulling the enemy out of line of sight of the tank carrying the stone.

Heck, you don't even need a heal-heavy team to make grab-and-hold strategy work. A DPS-heavy team will work just as well, since the enemy has to cross the entire goddamned map to get back once they are killed, while your team spawns ten meters away. Just keep the enemy team from picking up the stone if the tank dies until the next wave of respawns. Christ, just a single Chloro with Living Storm can accomplish that much.
