Default The Ultimate Book Of Warfront Guides (Work in Progress, Help Needed)

Hey guys, I thought I'd unveil a little project I've been working on in my spare time, updated and accurate warfront guides. I'd really like to push for the finished product, but I'd really like some proof readers, some input from the PVP community on additional sections that could be added and also just some people who want to point at my work and shout 'HAHA WRONG!', so that I can correct it! This guide is also currently missing pictures, something I'll add later to polish it off.

Anyways... have a look, the formatting still may be a bit off, I've marked in red areas or mechanics that I can't get full clarity on.

As requested by Daglar once I have full accurate information on each warfront, I'll move into doing video guides for each one to accompany the written ones.

The Ultimate Book of Wafront Guides

    Black Garden:
There are a total of 3 different version of the Black Garden warfront, Matryrdom, Domination and Stockpile, each version of this map is played entirely differently.

Martyrdom and Domination are available all the time.

Stockpile is part of the bonus/alternate weekend warfront rotation and is only available roughly 1 weekend every month.

    Martyrdom
    Maximum team size: 10
    Minimum player level:10
Victory Condition: Collect 500 points or the most points in 15 minutes

Overview: Black Garden: Martyrdom is commonly known as the standard version of Black Garden, the entire version of this Black Garden is centred around capturing and maintaining hold of the 'Fang of Regulos' which spawns directly in the centre of the map.

Whoever is holding the fang of Regulos takes damage every 8 seconds, which is initially equivalent to 7% of their maximum health. Every time the fang carrier takes damage from the fang, the amount of damage taken is further increased by 5%, so to break it down:

Time Spent Holding the Fang - % of maximum health taken in damage:
    • 0:05 - 7%
    • 0:10 - 14%
    • 0:15 - 21%
    • 0:20 - 28%
    • 0:25 - 35%
    • 0:30 - 42%
    • 0:35 - 49%
    • 0:40- - 56%
    • 0:45 - 63%
    • 0:50 - 70%
    • 0:55 - 77%
    • 1:00 - 84%
    • 1:05 - 91%
    • 1:10 - 98%
    • 1:15 - 105%
    • 1:20 - 112%
    • 1:25 - 119%

The damage from the fang of regulos cannot be mitigated by damage reduction cooldowns (Such as -30% damage taken type cooldowns) but it can be mitigated by shielding abilities (Such as Purifier Shields, Just Defense (Justicar Cooldown), Rift Guard (Riftstalker Passive), Planebound Aegis (Riftstalker Cooldown) and other shielding abilities across various souls.

    How points are scored:
    • 2 points are awarded for every kill
    • 1-6 points are awarded to the fang carrier every 2 seconds based on how close you are to the middle of the map (Where the fang spawns).

    Protips:
Due to the damage dealt by the fang it is much more effective to hold the fang in the middle of the map and get 6 points every 2 seconds as opposed to bringing the fang to your spawn point and gaining 1 point every 2 seconds.

Since holding the fang deals damage, you will have a hard time winning this warfront with no healers. So if upon entering the warfront you see that there are no healers in your party, strongly consider quickly switching healer if you have the capability.

    Stockpile
    Maximum team size: 15
    Minimum player level: 10
Victory condition: Collect 500 points or the most points in 20 minutes

Instead of a single Fang in the centre of the map, you have many purple balls all over the ground in and around the centre of the map.

The aim of the game is to carry these purple orbs and run them to the one of the cleansing orbs which will be marked on your map.

You can carry up to 3 purple orbs at any time, but each for each purple you are carrying you will suffer a 10% reduction to your movement speed, you can however use both run speed buffs and teleports while carrying these orbs.

The cleansing shrines only have a certain amount of charges each before they despawn, cleansing orbs/shrines spawn in sets of 2 and a new set won't respawn until both have been used.

Each cleansing orb/shrine only has 10 charges and then the shrine will disappear. Once both have been used, a new set of cleansing orbs and shrines will spawn at a different location.

    How points are scored:
    • 10 points for every captured orb.
    • 2 points for every kill.

    Domination
    Maximum team size: 10
    Minimum player level: 10
How to win: Collect 500 points or the most points in 20 minutes[/B]

For a safe victory in this Warfront you need to essentially control 2 control points for a majority of the time to win. The safest way to win is to try and attempt to control both your nearest control point and the middle. If you're looking for a slightly more daring and quick way to win you can attempt to keep control of the control point nearest your enemies base and also the middle, the control point nearest your enemies base will give you the most points per 2 seconds.

Black Garden domination consist of three control points that can be captured by either team:
    • One control point is located down to the left of where Guardians spawn
    • One control point is located down to the left of where Defiants spawn
    • One control point is located in the middle of the map (Where the fang of Regulos usually is)

Black Garden: Domination is played similarly to 'The Codex' and 'Karthan Ridge: Domination' in the sense that you have to capture and maintain control of bases.

To capture a base you do not already have control over you must right click on it, this then starts a 5 second cast, if you're not interrupted within these 5 seconds, you will begin to capture the base.

You then have to make sure nobody from the opposing team captures the base for 30 seconds before it becomes fully captured. You will not gain any points for a base until it is fully captured.

If an enemy player manages to successfully capture a base before it becomes fully captured for your team, it will immediately revert back to a fully captured base for their team.

    How points are scored:
    • 2 points per kill
    • Control of the Guardian Path (If you're Guardian) or Control of the Defiant Path (If you're Defiant) - 3 points/2 seconds
    • Control of the Prison of Corruption - 3 points/2 seconds
    • Control of the Guardian Path (If you're Defiant) or Control of the Defiant Path (If you're Guardian) - 5 points/2 seconds

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Library of the Runemasters
    Maximum team size: 15
    Minimum player level: 10
Victory condition: Collect 1,000 points within 20 minutes by carrying Dwarven Rune Vessels or defeating enemy players

Library of the Runemasters is a warfront contained within Hammerknell Fortress. A good way to think of this warfront is Black Garden: Martyrdom with multiple fangs, but instead these fangs are rune vessels.

The objective is to hold and maintain possession of as many the six rune vessels spread throughout the Library for as long as possible, however much like the black garden fang any player holding a vessel will take periodic damage, increasing the longer it is held until it eventually becomes unhealable and kills you.

On entry players are located on the third floor of the library. Factions are separated by a barrier halfway barrier splitting the room into two halves at all times on this level (Sorry, no spawn camping!).

The Rune Vessels are located on the first and second floors.

A rune vessel respawns 15 seconds after the person who originally picked it up dies.

The rune vessels initially damage and ramp up in damage, to the best of my knowledge it is something like they take 7% of your health every 8 seconds and then that ramps up by an additional 7% every 8 seconds, You will also want to add that when people with rune vessels are standing within 10-15m of each other the ticks of the rune vessels will damage nearby people with rune vessels for a certain % of their maximum health.

    How points are scored:
    • 3 points every 2 seconds per rune vessel
    • 2 points per kill

    --------------------------------------

    The Codex
    Maximum team size: 15
    Minimum player level: 20
Victory condition: Collect 1,000 points by holding vital positions, OR the most points in 20 minutes

This Warfront is a landscape set deep in the hills, around a central lake. Around them, four flags dictate strategic points of the area. The Vault is sealed in the southern valley, above the lake.

The Translation Scope and Statue of Thoradin guard either side of the lake while looking over the water, in the rocky cliffs, stands the tower of the Codex.

There are essentially two different strategies you can employ to win. You either need to gain and maintain control of the Codex and one additional base or you need to gain and maintain control of all 3 of the bases bar Codex (Statue, Vault and Scope).

Each base awards points every 5 seconds for having control of it, all the bases bar codex award 3 points every 5 seconds and the codex awards 5 points every 5 seconds amount of seconds.

It takes 30 seconds to capture a base and if it is interrupted by the team that initially controlled the base within those 30 seconds, they instantly get the base back under their control.

    How points are scored:
    • Player kill - 2 points
    • Control of the Vault - 3 points every 5 seconds
    • Control of the Statue of Thontic - 3 points every 5 seconds
    • Control of Translation Scope - 3 points every 5 seconds
    • Control of the Codex - 5 points every 5 seconds

    ----------------------------------------

    Escalation: Whitefall Steppes
    Maximum team size: 15
    Minimum player level: 30
Victory condition: Capture 3 sourcestone OR the most sourcestones within 20 minutes

The aim of the game is to capture and maintain control of 3 sourcestones in your base. To capture a sourcestone you need to pick it up from the middle of the map and return it to the giant cannon in the center of your base. There is a 3 second cast time to pick up a sourcestone that can be interrupted.

Sourcestones spawn in the middle of the map under the air RIFT in three different locations:
    • Directly under the Air RIFT in the dead center of the map.
    • 40m east of the first position
    • 40m west of the first position

Initially when the match starts, a single source stone will be spawned in the middle of the map.

Once the first sourcestone has been captured, 45 seconds later a second one will appear at the eastern position.

Once the second sourcestone has been captured, 45 seconds later a third one will appear at the western position.

Once the third has has been captured, two sourcestones will appear at both the western and eastern positions. After this, no more sourcestones will spawn.

Captured sourcestones will be distributed around the large cannon in your base, an enemy player can pick up a sourcestones and attempt to run it to their base. If you defeat this player before they reach their base, they will drop the sourcestone. If you or a member of your team then successfully picks up the sourcestone it will instantly be returned to your base. However if a member of the opposing team picks they can continue to run it to their base.

    Protips:
When carrying a sourcestone you cannot use any teleports or gain any affect from the majority of run speed increasing abilities, however there are a few abilities in the game that seem to to bypass this rule (Judicial Prilevedge - Inquisitor ability).
When carrying a sourcestone your location is broadcast to the entire map.

    ----------------------------------------

    The Battle for Port Scion
    Maximum team size: 20
    Minimum player level: 50
Victory condition: Accrue 1,000 points, OR the most points in 45 minutes, OR slay the enemy commander

There are two different tactics to winning Port Scion, killing the the enemy teams commander or getting as many points as you can. The most common tactic by far for random warfront groups is to get as many points as you can. However teams consisting of several premade groups may wish to try the quicker way of attempting to slay the enemies commander.

Below is a breakdown of how points are scored in Port Scion:
    • Killing an endless mob or a mob from the plane of death: 2 Points per mob
    • Killing an elite endless mob or a elite mob from the plane of death: 10 Points per mob
    • Capturing a sourcestone and returning it to your commander if both of you're planar extractors are down: 10 points per sourcestone
    • Capturing a sourcestone and returning it to your commander if one of you're planar extractors is down: 20 points per sourcestone
    • Capturing a sourcestone and returning it to your commander if both of you're planar extractors are up: 30 points per sourcestone
    • Killing the death drake thing at the south of the map: 50 points
    • Killing the baron in the chapel located north of the map: 50 points
    • Killing both of the opposing factions planar extractors for the first time: 100 Points each

In the middle of Port Scion you can capture a control point on the bridge, which ever team controls this control point can respawn on the Bridge. A lot of people seem to think that winning Port Scion is dictated over maintaining control over the Bridge, however this is not the case. It's a much more effective strategy to stock up on healers and attempt to maintain control of the church. This way the three sourcestones can remain under your teams guard. In an ideal world you would want 16 players holding the Church, 3 players with a high ability to survive running the stones from the church to their base and 1 player who seizes control of the sourcestone at the bottom of the map and then helps to hold the church.

Alternately here is an explanation of how to kill the enemy teams commander:

The enemy teams commander is guarded by two lieutenants and takes reduced damage for each one of the enemy teams planar extractors that is alive (I believe it is around 40% per extractor).

When you first kill either one of the planar extractors, one of the lieutenants guarding the enemy teams commander will rush to come and repair it. Once the enemy teams lieutenant gets to the extractor they will begin casting a 30 second channeled ability on it to fully repair it, however you will not be able to see this ability being cast.

Ideally as soon as you've first killed either one of the planar extractors you will want to find the lieutenant and kill him as fast as possible, be aware that you will need several people to do this in order to kill him before he repairs the planar extractor.

Once both the lieutenants and the planar extractors have been defeated, it is time to take on the enemy teams commander. The commander doesn't really have any special mechanics, he will charge random players. Be aware that usually to successfully take out the enemy teams commander you will need the majority of your team to be with you or else it is likely you will be quickly overthrown by interfering members of the opposing team.

There are a total of 4 different repeatable quests in Port Scion available from your commander
    • Kill 10 members of the opposing faction
    • Kill 10 Members of the Endless Court
    • Kill Baron Kervik
    • Collect 5 Relics of Port Scion

Completing these quests causes friendly Guardian/Defiant NPCs to spawn and make there way toward your enemies commander. I still need to work out a more in-depth breakdown of how this works.

    ----------------------------------------------------

    Karthan Ridge
Karthan Ridge is a new warfront that was introduced with Storm Legion. This Warfront has two different version Subversion and Domination. Both versions of this Warfront are available all the time.

    Subversion
    Maximum team size: 15
    Minimum player level: 50
Victory condition: Capture 3 sourcestone OR the most sourcestones within 20 minutes

Karthan Ridge: Subversion is more commonly known as the standard version of Karthan Ridge.

Each team has 3 bases or power cores. In the center of the map is a large porticulum, two 'unstable power sinks' (which have the visual appearance of sourcestones), spawn either side of this porticulum.

The aim of the game is simply to get the unstable power sinks to the opposing teams power cores and disable them.

When you pick up an unstable power sink your location will be broadcast across the entire map, allowing the enemies to easily see your location and work towards circumventing you before you can blow up their objectives.

With bombs in hand, it's as important to watch your enemies as it is to watch yourself. Since you are running them into your enemy's territory, you will need to move quickly and efficiently and your primary focus should always be on planting the bomb, rather than getting kills.

If a player carrying a bomb is killed before they can utilize it, they will drop it. At this point, players from either team can pick it up. They will eventually reset if not picked up after a minute or two.

    Protips:
When it comes to planting the middle power core, each platform has a ledge very close to this power core, knock back abilities can be extremely effective here.

    Domination
    Maximum team size: 15
    Minimum player level: 50
Victory condition: Score 1,000 points OR the most points scored within 20 minutes

Karthan Ridge: Domination is played similarly to the Codex or Black Garden: Domination. There are a total of 5 bases, Defiant Path, Life Focus, Portal, Guardian Path and Earth Focus.

The aim of the game is try and control as many bases as possible. You get more points for controlling bases closer to the opposing factions spawn point.

    Where are the bases located?
    • The Guardian Path is located to the right of the guardian spawn point
    • The Earth Focus is located to the left of the guardian spawn point
    • The Portal is located in the center of the map
    • The Defiant Path is located to the left of the defiant spawn point
    • The Life Focus is located to the right of the defiant spawn point

    How points are scored:
    • Control of the Guardian Path (If you're a guardian) or control of the Defiant Path (If you're a defiant) - 3 points/ 5 seconds
    • Control of the Earth Focus (If you're a guardian) or control of the Life Focus (If you're a defiant) - 3 points/5 seconds
    • Control of the Portal - 3 points/5 seconds
    • Control of the Defiant Path (If you're a guardian) or control of the Guardian Path (If you're a defiant) - 5 points/5 seconds
    • Control of the Life Focus (If you're a guardian) or control of the Earth Focus (If you're a defiant) - 5 points/5 seconds
    • Player kill - 1 point
    ------------------------ END ----------------------

Thanks Nykolas for the inspiration to do this in more detail!

I'm sure there is a TON of stuff I can add, change and tweak, so please guys, go through my guide, butcher it, provide some constructive feedback, point out any mistakes and let's make some awesome warfront guides, cheers!

    > BG Domination

Maybe mention you need to control 2 flags for a majority of the time to win

    > You have missed off spawn on the ledge directly under both the guardian and defiant spawn points.

    Huh?

    > all the bases par codex

    bar

    > Codex

Mention something about strategy: Minimum Dex + 1 OR Stat+Vault+Scope to win

    > this player before they reach there base

    their

    > opposing team picks then can continue

    they

    > When carrying a sourcestone you cannot use any teleports or gain affect run speed increasing abilities.

    a) -affect (or other re-word)
    b) some abilities can! for example the Inquisitor heal+RS whose name escapes me atm

    > Capturing a sourcestone and returning it your commander: 20 points per sourcestone

It's 30 if your planar extractors are both up

    > Scion

Something about strategy, ie bridge control (not the most important), church control. Killing an enemy extractor reduces the points they get for stones (temporarily?).

    > They do not reset when dropped only when used to blow up an enemy's power core.

They do eventually reset if not picked up.

    > Karthan Ridgeomination

Need a space there to un-smily the :D.

Thank you Seatin!!!!!!! Awesome Guide! And here I always thought the middle in Black Garden domination would net more points! I stand corrected and will make sure that my team captures the opposite faction point in all future matches first!

Can we get this thread stickied please?

Taking idols down actually detracts 10 points per idol for each stone turned in. So, if both idols are taken down, the enemy team's sourcestones are worth 10 points each, not 20.

Also, the "church boss" is worth 50 pts.

Notice the natural advantage rogues have in domination (codex, kanthan and bg)

No invisibility spell at 2 pts in Mage or cleric trees?

Isn't that the simplified strategy to every Warfront?

    1. Stack cleric healers.
    2. Stack more cleric healers.
    3. Win

Ithluk the Maimed = 100 Points + Hero Spawn which is XK33-Eradicator for Defiant and Sir Rekgar for Guardian.

To add: You can take extractor down the first time for 100 points. If you kill the mini before it can spawn the extractor again or take the extractor down after it respawns, then either of these two action removes 10 points from the opposing factions shard turn ins. If you get both of them down then a total of 20 points per shard turn in is removed.

Awesome job, Seatin! This guide along with a video narrated by Baramos will make people warm and fuzzy inside.

Really though, Rift sees an influx of new or returning players daily. Many may try out PVP, if we want to continue to have people to play against in PVP, we need to treat our new/returning players well. This will be a win win for all.

    Great job, +1.

    I wonder that.

    TY Seatin....

This guide should be sticky'd once it's as complete as possible in the PvP section. I've thought about doing this same thing. Not to any extent as you have here, but it needed to be done. I really pray ppl will read this and get a better understanding of how WF's are supposed to work. I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of ppl not even attempting to do the objectives and not having situational awareness on the field. Thus losing countless matches.
