    Default Conquest: Capping vs Conquering?

In Conquests it seems like half the zerg will stay behind and cap a point for the conquest points while the other half moves ahead to conquer the next point.

Am I correct in assuming that if you are more interested in earning conquest points, then it's best to lag behind and cap points?

And what is the motivation of skipping out on those conquest points from capping and moving to the next target? Seems like who has the lead when the 5 minute timer starts often has no correlation on who ends up winning the match.

You don't need to stay behind. Just stick around for one tick of the cap indicator moving and you'll get quest credit and CQ power for the cap.

half the zerg has some CQ experience with getting rolled at extractors by premades, and have no wish to repeat the experience.

the other half have little CQ experience and don't realise that you don't need to stay for the entire duration to get credit for the cap. they also don't realise that speed and mobility can matter in pvp.

    yes and no.
not for the cap itself, you can move on and still receive the rewards.
if you stay to buff turrets, you can receive a little extra CQ power.

not getting steamrolled by a premade
capping as many extractors as quickly as possible if the timer has started.
even if your team has a premade, and you are there to fight, you will still lose the match if you stand and fight once the timer has started.

    most of the time, yes.
though sometimes, if the lead is big enough, and if the other two teams are distracted fighting eachother...

sometimes the motivation for building a high score is to end the pain early.
there are two ways to start the 5 min timer. run down the kill count, or reach 61% of extractors controlled.
if the other two factions both have premades, and your team is just getting farmed, trying to start the timer through extractors can be a viable option.
