Default Cleric Tanking in CQ question

If you are in an organized raid (and it has plenty of cleric heals already) and you are asked to tank as a cleric, which build would you select to tank with in conquest?

    A) Highest possible effective health

    B) Tank with Purge
    - Courage of the Bear (5% endurance)
    - 2% reduced damage
    + Purge (removes 2 buffs, 10s CD)

    C) Tank with AoE Cleanse
    - Courage of the Bear (5% endurance, lasts 1 hour)
    - Armor of Treachery (3% armor, 3% endurance, lasts 1 hour)
    - 5% reduced damage
    - 6% armor
    - 12% resistance
    - 9% endurance
    - 5m range on damaging spells
+ 5% additional healing done and absorption granted
+ 6% healing done and absorption granted with instant cast spells
+ Healer's Blessing (instant cast heals and shields restore an additional ~500 health
+ 6% healing done and absorption granted to allies below 75% health
    + Urgency
+ Empowering Light (removes 1 crud from up to 10 allies and restores 6% of the cleric's HP to them)
+ Healer's Covenant (reduces damage taken by 40% for 10s, CD 1 min)

Differences are against Max. Eff. Health build. Healing references not take into account healing nerf in pvp.

Second one due to the fact that you will have the best heal in the game due to the cleanse. AoE cleanse actually gives you meaning in a group too. I would still use Warden over this, but whatever.

As a cleric who has strapped on the shield for you in CQ several times, I recommend the highest possible health variant. It is a rare occasion indeed when a tank purge is going to matter in CQ, but you can build to have an interrupt and a stun which are much more meaningful imo.

Ultimately, you are just damage-taking sponge for your team. Go for the health and what cc you can get.

Thank you for the replies. It sounds like there are experienced opinions that see value in the maximum effective health build and also the AoE cleansing variant.

Also, spec into "Legolas' Boon", which allows you to equip an extra shield in the slot for your feet. This gives you access to the "Elven Surfer" speed buff, as seen in use by Orlando Bloom in The Two Towers.

Also, in 2.6, they're adding a new 44-point Warden ability, "Shield Assistant". This allows you to equip a shield on your head instead of a helmet, giving a chance to block all attacks from above. While this ability is active, you cannot cast your group cleanse, since, obviously, it's better for a cleric to be in tank spec to do cleanses instead.

Thanks again for the feedback, it has augmented the testing of these different builds over the past week.
