    Default Question about Spell Reflect

Why doesn't spell reflect work against Tempest abilities?

    Tempest abilities are not spells.

Seems like they should be spells.

I mean, lightning coming from your finger tips, should be classified as spells.

Anythingthing that deals "non-physical" damage should count as a spell.

It's interesting to note that mage spells that do "air damage" are classified as spells...yet Tempest abilities, which are "air damage" aren't classified as spells.

Both are *cast* from a distance..so why aren't Tempest abilities classified as spells?

It's because they don't use magic. Tempests are masters of controlling static electricity, all their channels and casts represent the time it takes to rub balloons all over their body to generate the charge.

It's not magic, it's SCIENCE! Everybody knows that warriors are the most scientific calling.

As evident by the fact that warriors are so smart that they don't need to augment any mental statistic!

This is precisely why they need to stand in place to get their bonus 25% damage from Grounded. They need to shuffle their feet around and build up static.

tempest abilities (and RB spears) are classed as melee attacks and can be reflected by anything that reflects melee attacks.
they can also be parried and blocked. spells cannot.

they can be silenced, but they can also be disarmed.

i'd be happy to see temp/rb abilities effected by spell reflects in addition to melee reflects, if in return spells can be parried/blocked and spell casters disarmed. ;)

There are types of damage that I know of from conversations with various Devs.

Shouts: Bard abilities that do Non-Physical damage but can be silenced
Physical: Mighty Blow, Piercing Shot etc. Deal Physical damage may be blocked/dodged/parried
Non-Physical: Riftblade, Nightblade, Tempest, Harbinger, Druid abilities etc. Deal Elemental Damage may be Blocked/Dodged/Parried
Spells: Mage/Cleric abilities excluding some Harbinger/Druid/Shaman abilities. Deal Elemental Damage except in rare cases. Cannot be Blocked/Dodged/Parried except in rare cases.
    Nope.

I wasn't sure about disarmed so didn't mention it. But logically it makes sense, can't play your Lute if you're disarmed!

So, I'm trying to figure out if I should get the level 20 greater essence for my baby warrior-

    http://rift.zam.com/en/item/C6BCDAAC...oldering-Shard

Will it work with her Tempest attacks?

Or should I just get all lessers?
