I still play Rift because there is nothing better out there....yet. I thoroughly enjoyed the last GW2 beta and am siked for its release, unless Trion fixes these last remaining pvp killers (imo) I won't be back at that point. I am passionate about this subject because I know this pvp can be so much better. I love the soul system, I love the fluidness of the combat and just the atmosphere of the game altogether, but there are too many pvp killers that remain for me and they are obvious crap that could easily be fixed. Trion is just too stubborn to do it.
1v1, if you lose to a PvE geared player with your PvP gear on, you suck. They would have to be doing well over twice your damage (on a training dummy) in order to beat you. They are taking your full damage, you are taking approx 45% of their damage. You have significantly more HP's.
In a group setting, yes, a PvE geared player will be doing higher DPS, but will melt alot easier. It's kind of a tradeoff.
What Habby says should be somewhat true for armor, though one needs to include differences in endurance as well. Trion needs to do the same with weapons. Either put lots of valor on the weapon, or create a PVE equivalent of vengeance (spell/attack power that only works in PVE) so that the PVE weapons aren't any better than the PVP ones.
Anyone who posts on this thread saying that they think pve gear should be on par with pvp gear while doing pvp is trying to keep their pve gear from getting nerfed when they do pvp. Or rather, they dont want it to be less powerful in comparison to the top pvp gear when doing pvp.
I mean is anyone going to straight-up post that the top pve gear should do equally well in pvp when compaired to the top pvp gear?
If you are, say it outright and post why you think so. Smoke and mirrors to derail or belittle the topic wont be appreciated.
If Trion are so comfortable to make PvP Weapons/Gear in PvE SO useless, why don't they do the same in PvP to PvE Weapons/Gear?
That way, all the annoying PvE geared sad f**ks who spend 50% of their day in PvE and the other 50% in PvP (Which by the way, are generally the ones without a life or a job) - who come in to Warfronts/Conquest; will be FORCED to put their PvP Gear on to be effective.
Vengeance is f**king useless other than the fact that it keeps PvP weapons/gear out of PvE - when PvE weapons/gear (minus the valor) is 100% more effective than all the vengeance in the world.
P!sses me off tbh. And I don't give a flying f**k who disagrees with me, calls me mad, or whatever - because for that to happen, I'd first have to value those peoples opinions, and tbh - I couldn't care less if you dropped dead on the spot tomorrow.
Would a possible fix for this not be something like this:
Valor = DIRECT opposite of HIT (e.g. 1000 Valor = need 1000 Hit to overcome)
Would that not effectively make the PvE weapon useless in PvP?
In PvE , you do need that high output damage from the weapon, because the boss mobs have millions of hitpoints, but in PvP your opponent usually has < 20k.
Really, Vengeance should be the ONLY ability that can damage a PvP opponent, IF Valor and Vengeance are PvP specific/only stats.
That being said, I personally favor removal of the Valor/Vengeance stats, and would prefer a system where the sigil/source engine essences would be the things that are useful in PvP (e.g. shorter duration of stun effect, ability to sense rogues [my personal favorite], spell resistance, increased speed/reactions, etc.)

Correcting the disparity makes a big difference even to those who exclusively PvP. Sure they'll be bitter that they would have to do both to get all bis, but with the difference in quality reduced then it won't make or break a player, more importantly if there is a fair divide between the two forms it means PvP gear can a actually be designed to be good rather that the **** currently on offer.
Sadly the pve players will slam down anything that would be a decent item from PvP and given they have all the power things are unlikely to change.
Basically trion have to come to a decision - either make the two forms exlusive and accept their cross form plans are a failure, or man the **** up and start making decent PvP gear regardless of whining pve purists

Crafted melee weapons that require ID crafting materials to make are BiS in PvP for Rogues. Kinda strange, but that's the way it is right now.
Byr ur logic they should just give the PVP gear for free why do we have prestige and favour, its cause the majorety of ppl sadly need a loot carrot to play. W8 and see how the wf's get less populated and u will understand the issue
