    Here's the deal.

level 10 jumps into a warfront, gets killed by a level 14 and screams XX is Overpowered.

same level 10 levels to 14 and jumps a level 10 on his side and feels better about himself, and feels like he's a 'man'. That level 14 gets jumped and killed by a level 19, and screams TWINK!

a level 19 gets crushed by a level 12 and goes: "Hmm...what did I do wrong?"

that same level 19 goes up against another level 19 and get's roflstomped. That level 19 either goes: "Man, glad I am getting out of this bracket in 20%" Or..."How can I beat ths guy?"

While the level 14 is still ranting about twinks.

Sure take away level locking. Good luck getting in a warfront.

As for calling it 'twinking', seriously what is twinking in Rift? PA is not availabe under 50 so all you're left with is gear and spec. Any idiot can google what the current cool spec is. Anyone can run a dungeon or two and get gear. Anyone can craft 'stuff'.

Wake up. If it was not for level locking, forget leveling via warfronts. Sure, it worked when the game was new. It does not work now.

The majority of criers in under 50 warfronts are getting wtfpwnd by good players (alts). Not twinks.
I personally think your argument is wrong. Maybe now after twinking ran off the more casual WF players it might be harder to get a WF, I do not agree with before twinking was added. I never seemed to have an issue doing WFs in the past, only if I went for specific WFs.

If you think that twinking under 50 has no visable affect, you are either lying to yourself or just blind. EXP locking and then working on the BiS for that character vs leveling and not hunting down gear for every level BiS are two completely different things and the gear makes a tremendous difference.

TLDR WHERE ARE MY HIP WADERS, IT IS GETTING DEEP IN HERE!

Let's face it, there really aren't that many new players in this game any more. Claims that there are might hold water if subscription numbers were in the rise, but that is not the case.
I'm a new player. I have a 25 cleric and a 21 rogue. PvP is proving to be little more than an exercise in frustration. Granted, I'll admit that I probably don't know much about what proper builds I should be using, nor do I claim to be a PvP God; but, it isn't fun when it seems every game there is at least a couple of players on the other side who I have no hope of hurting and no hope of surviving against. I have repeatedly questioned what the purpose is of these jerks are who have more stats on their planar focus than I probably have on all my armor combined and then mock people when they two or three shot them.

Something should be done about it. There are already enough barriers to entry if you're starting new in an MMO like this. Twinks just make it horribly unentertaining to even work your way up an ever increasing ladder by people who just sit at one rung ridiculously overgeared kicking you in the head repeatedly.

One thing I had stopped a toon at lvl 49 for was to gear grind. I figured Id be better off spending a few plat to get some gear to just stay at that level, earn favor and buy my level 50 gear (except for the weapons which require prestige ranks to get.)

This way I could get my gear and not have to suffer through a bunch of p40s destroying me forever while I gear.

first off, you are still on the lowe end of these level brackets. Doesn't matter if they have BiS and planar sigils with more stats on that all your gear combined, you'd still get facerolled even if they were naked. level 29 > 21 (or 25).

That said, you obviously know about planar focuses, why don't you go get one? You obviously know they are wearing barnies and blueberries....why don't you get some yourself?

I can tell you haven't been PvP'ing very long if you don't know if you have a viable PvP spec. So...go look on the forums, or ASK PEOPLE what specs they are running.

And twinks are NOT unkillable. I've been killed by level 16's who meekly remain obscure until they kill me. Or level 12's who jump on the right moment. Or other level 19's when we duke it out.

I had a mission today, to CRUSH Bilch a level 19 mash build cleric. She can almost one handed kill half our team. With proper planning, strategy and placement and the wide use of all my skills, I PWNED THAT BILCH! yEAH, THAT'S RIGHT, A NON-TWINK level 19 took her down.

But, she helped me to be a better marksman, never before have I demonstrated a frustrating use of skills that kept that BILCH in place. With no runes on my gear, and only whetstones that I buy for cheap off the AH, I went out there with the intent to destroy one person in a warfront. Anyone else I kill is just favor, but the true test of twinking is taking out other twinks.

Yes, I won't deny so jerks are out there to roflstomp you, but they do it because they have pocket heals and gear to protect how bad they are. Those that are out there to have fun use that protection to better themselves and are actually nice people

*hugs* Mimii. Sorry I haven't played in few days, you got me back into loving my rogue. Thanks hun.

im just curious ... when you turn 50 and decide that you want to continue to pvp... and an R40 kicks you in the head ...repeatedly, whats going to be your outlook then?

are you just going to hope that ranking is going to make you better? or are you going to actually invest some time and energy in finding out what will work to make you a ....pvp god? lulz

pvp is the "more difficult" (hard to keep a straight face saying that in Rift) part of this game, because you are going to have fight against people who want to laugh at noobs they pwn....

lot of people accuse twinks of being jerks, but the reality is ..any pvp participant that wants to win, takes the time and effort to be ...a winner and to pwn the other guy. doesnt matter if they are 39 or 50, people pvp to win. annnnnd someone always has some kind of an advantage..... could be gear, build or the fact that you can press a button faster or your pressing the right buttons faster.

if you cant invest the small amount of time it takes to be competitive in lower level pvp.. after 50 is going to be ugly.

I don't necessarily disagree with the rest of your post, but this is an exageration at best, and in reality a load of BS.

I have one. It has two slots. I've filled it with the best essences I've got, which are green. I'm not really sure where I find a purple one with all the slots or the blue essences that fill them. Probably because I just started playing the game. Like I said. Before. New. Don't know all this stuff. Also, I'm trying to level up here, I don't have a level 50 who's done everything and has the funds to buy my gear.

I can tell you haven't been PvP'ing very long if you don't know if you have a viable PvP spec. So...go look on the forums, or ASK PEOPLE what specs they are running.
The forums are filled with level 50 specs and specs from previous patches. Of course, I wouldn't really know if I have a good spec or not, to be honest, because its hard to gauge where you stand when you're fighting people decked out in purples and blues and I'm trying to PvP in quest rewards and the occasional AH item that I could afford.

And twinks are NOT unkillable. I've been killed by level 16's who meekly remain obscure until they kill me. Or level 12's who jump on the right moment. Or other level 19's when we duke it out.
Sure and on that one particular day, David managed to kill Goliath. But 95 times out of a hundred, Goliath roflstomps David.

How many times did she kill you before you managed to kill her that one time?

But, she helped me to be a better marksman, never before have I demonstrated a frustrating use of skills that kept that BILCH in place. That's the thing. I don't want to twink, right now. I just want to try and close the gap between the people who have been playing for months or a year, and myself, who started a week or so ago, and maybe earn some favor to spend when I finally get level 50 or buy an item from a pvp vendor that is better than what I'm using right now. Or even, shocker here, just have fun with some PvP while I'm playing. But PvP isn't fun when the playing field is so unbalanced simply because of the gear disparity between an xp locked twink and someone just starting the game.

My time and energy, as a new low level player, are in trying to learn the basics of the game and get my first player to level 50. Presumably, by that time I'll have a greater grasp of the game and its nuances, or at the very least have learned the particular dialect and acronyms used by the community. What my time and energy aren't being spent on is gearing out my level locked character at level X9 just so I can roflstomp characters who are new and levelling up.

You've come to the right area if you want to learn. The forums, the internet is full of all sorts of guides. Plus you have plug-ins like nkadvisor that can help you with BiS.

Ask people for specs. Ask them if they know any good builds for PvP. If your not doing so hot with melee builds, try a MM build if your a rogue. If your a mage, try playing a dom spec. If you can't handle a MM build, try a SAB build (which are very annoying AND very affective) or a bard.

If your cleric, and melee isn't your thing, try an inqui spec. If you like to heal, try the puri/sent/warden builds. People have ways to help you IF YOU WOULD BUT ASK INSTEAD OF COMPLAIN.

Quite a few...but in return, I killed her LOTS of times. I just had to learn from my mistakes, and trust me, she is quite unforgiving of mistakes. But I learned, and learning is good. I am better for it.

Then don't twink. My baby rogue is NOT a twink. I am level locked, yes, but I am NOT a twink. Again, I bought 2 whetstones off the exchange, but I have no runes on my equipment, I don't even have armor plating on, and I still took down ubber twink. You don't *have* to twink out to be effective. 9 times out of 10 though, those in the higher leel bracket are really good because that's what they do. They have the reactions of a hummigbird, lightning quick. You will not earn these reactionary skills until you play alot, and if your only using PvP as a leveling path, then work on getting gear to be competative. Because, this game is about gear, and when I learned that, I sought out to better MYSELF.

Here's a nice little guide on where to get gear for less than level 50 characters.

Twinks don't exist for only one purpose ... because not everyone does PvP.

The reality is, twinking exists for a very valid reason that has ZERO to do with PvP at all.

Maybe you should all go put in a suggestion to have the "Stop XP gain" ability automatically TURN OFF when you are flagged for PvP. That way you can all stop whining about this, but please, leave us PvE people alone, and stop making such stupid comments like "TWINKS exist for only one purpose - grief." because it only shows how ignorant you really are.

At the end, what all the twink defenders are missing or forgetting is this:

Its not fun for non-twinks to be little more than pincushions for twinks. That being said, there doesn't need to be a ban on twinks. They should simply compete in their own twink queues where they can enjoy themselves with other xp locked players who are interested in gearing up lowbie characters and let the people who aren't interested in twinking play against other people who have a different focus other than twinking.

It seems like such a sensible solution, I find it difficult to believe that anyone would argue against it.

You must've been one of those kids in class playing dodge ball.....'Teacher! Those kids all threw a ball at me! Make them stop."

Do you really expect the teacher to step in and say: "Ok kids, don't throw the ball at Mortua, or else you'll hurt his feelings."

Point is, when I play in warfronts on my level locked 19 rogue, I don't scan through the list of targets and go: "Oh, there's a level 10! 'plink, plink! There's a level 11, kill it! Ohh....level 12...lemme get that one too.

I tab, fire, it dies, I tab again I fire, it dies, I see Bilch, I switch off whoever I am on and LAY WASTE TO THAT....*respawn* WHere is that Bilch, I'mma get her this time....

Ok, bilch is dead, tab, kill, tab, kill

I don't care what level you are. ITS [EDIT]WAR. The goal is to kill *your* team. I don't care what level you are, you are in my way of accomplishing MY task. End of story. Don't want to die? Get better gear, get a better spec, get a clue, and L2P.
