Baseline in their tree and off GCD. If this would be over powered why isn't Deaden Shot considered to be over powered?

Actually to make it more accurate it would also need to remove combo points/attack points to be equivalent since deaden also interrupts the currently casted spell regardless of someone being cc immune setting the person back at least 1 gcd not counting the duration of the silence.

Or how about an 8 sec disarm on a 15 sec cd, like warriors have with silence?

Sure you can disarm us every 15s. But you have to do it while we are using a cast time ability to get that effect.

As long as its 38 points in archon and all of archons attacks are made melee ranged only baring a few that have moderate cds.... Point being you cant compare classes directly like so many try.

If mages had a disarm equivalent of Shock Burst all warriors and rogues would threaten to quit the game within 2 days.

How about we give dps mages a 5 sec disarm on a 50sec CD & a 20sec CD cc breaker to make it even.
If only we had something like that

So you have to wait more than 3x as long before you can use it.
Where as a rogue can fire it off as soon as the DR is fished.

    That doesn't make it event.
Primarily because assuming worst case scenario and you apply it after they flicker, that flicker isn't usable in 5 seconds.

Let's not the play the game of have's and have nots.
Point is that there are many, many ways for every calling to silence a mage.
On the other hand, there aren't anywhere near as many ways for a mage calling to disarm rogues/warriors.

Keep in mind I am neither agreeing or disagreeing with the OP. Merely clarifying since people have a habit of presuming your intentions.

So...when I was in the 30-39 bracket on my warrior, there was this chlorodom that used to eat me for lunch. I tried convincing him to eat me for breakfast hoping that I would trick him so that when he ate me for lunch later he would be eating his own poo, but that didn't work. Regardless...

Transmogrify -> Storm Shackle and I think Traitorous Influence, and since there never seemed to be anyone on my team who knew what a cleanse was much less was ever around to use it, it basically meant I could gib myself trying to kill this guy or stand there and let him free cast on me. Either way he had my number and it was gg every time he turned on me.

So I suppose I should be insisting that the only way that mage wouldn't be OP would be to make it so that my warrior had all kinds of abilities that would let me debuff this guy so that if he stood still or did anything that used mana for the next 8-12 seconds that he would take all kinds of damage, since that's basically the equivalent of what he was doing to me.

One of the things I like about Rift is that virtually any calling can be paper, rock, and scissors, just not all at full strength all the time. You can have a paper build and go around hunting rocks and avoiding scissors all day until you get mad at scissors and put together a rock build, but then paper is going to be looking for some joy and you're going to have to adapt. Everything goes full circle when you get mad enough at paper to put together a scissors build and then rock is going to come looking for some payback.
