A ploy like this wouldn't be needed if people weren't so weak and scared of a fair fight.
When you hop to one side or the other to unbalance it you make things like this a reality. And we all know that is what happened here.
On my account I have 2 level 50 defiants but I play guardian despite the fact that defiants outnumber us. I pvp FOR THE CHALLENGE! I don't want to be carried through.
So while I don't wholeheartedly agree with the merc concept its not without precedent in the fantasy genre.
Nice to see they are finally addressing Guardians outnumbing defiant 3:1.
I like this as long as the "mercinary" status is randomly assigned (which is how it appears to be designed).
There should be an "opt-out" setting though that allows characters to queue only for their own faction. Not everyone wants to be a mercinary. Most of us will enjoy it though
they should just make mercs a third faction and give us some damn meaningful world pvp with objectives you can capture and hold like we've been asking for since pre-release. then again maybe its too late for that most pvpers have come and gone. 1/6 servers that reach high pop is a pvp server the rest are pve
Maybe the fact that my remotely intelligent posts get overseen, or responded to/by with some really undecent comments... and futher more left alone.... will show u that ur fellow gamers have no clue what so ever that their promoting...
still think it's dumb to do....
well on the one hand there will be one of three four warfront entirely defiant.
on the other hand they are taking steps towards FFA in pvp which rocks
Each person speaks only for themself.
I will continue to do all I can to help the team win, regardless of which random group of people I am grouped with. I always have and I look forward to the challenge this change brings..
ps It is a game, you are not really a guardian or defiant, I myself am an Australian.........
There's so many Guardians I'd love to go up against and so many Defiants I'd love to play alongside, I could care less what Cyril Kalmar tells me.
