Tried to do some world PvP today.. was just a bunch of rogues stealthing, 3-shotting people, and slipping away.

As a mage, a rogue pops out of lolstealth (because rogues shouldn't have to commit to PvP encounters like other classes).. it goes something like this. You have two options:
    1. Die within 8 seconds.
    2. Try to heal: throw a 50% damage debuff on them and blow all your cooldown heals while they DPS you down faster than your 50%-stolen heals do anything. Die within 8 seconds once you exhaust all heals.
    3. Play something without self-healing that dies within 8 seconds.

4- Get a rogue babysitter and enjoy the game. Make friends and you'll be surprised at the results!

Well, rogues are ninja's, and based on that:

It is a branch of a Japanese samurai, a very old organization
Its origins are hundreds of years old, much of its history is being lost
not many ninja's exist today, yet they all have indomitable fighting skills
    as a part of ninjitsu
no matter what weapons you use, a ninja will never die!

K ya, I'm being a bit silly. Couldn't resist though.

Also, true fact: ninjarogues are mammals. And they like to flip out and kill people.

As an R8 mage, I look forward to any rogue popping on me.

You're just outgeared. Get more valor & hitpoints and you'll do ok.

You're just pointing out what's wrong with pvp in this game really.
In order to compete you need the best gear, otherwise you're toast.
Can you grasp how that is wrong?

Welcome to MMOs. Are you really suprised?

If you want PvP where everyone's the same, there's an FPS thattaway.

I'll admit, it's probably alot worse for low-geared players now.

Rogues make up a large portion of the population. With these recent buffs, it's far more likely you're going to run into someone who's going to tear you apart then before. You used to only have to worry about Warriors and Mages doing that. Now there's a whole new demographic in play.

Well, there is 'everyone's the same' and 'no one is the same'. Big spectrum there.
And yes I am surprised that Trion made pvp this horrible.

Shinobi aka Ninja was a covert agent or mercenary of feudal Japan specializing in unorthodox arts of war. The functions of the ninja included espionage, sabotage, infiltration, and assassination, as well as open combat in certain situations.

And if you want a game about loot whoring, there's a single player rpg thattaway, oh and diablo 3 soon for all your loot whoring and instant battle needs.
See anyone can make inane comments based on stereotype's and opinion.

Fps multiplayer games are popular exactly because skilll trumps gear, which makes it great for the pick up and play newb or the long term vet. Not to mention that having only the hardcorebeing able to stay up wth the gear curve means it is punishing to the majority of your population base, which
financially is a very bad thing

the point is we play mmo's because we like the type of gameplay (to an extent) and for the multiplayer experience. Also pvp where gear trumps skill hasnt always been around and is pretty much a newish (in mmo years) phenomenon. There is a reason proper pvp games (daoc etc), allowed player skill to at least have a part in how a battle turns out.
So long rift, may your potential someday be realised

I play a Warrior as my main, and a MM Rogue as more my pvp specific toon. Trion did what they've shown very skilled at, in an attempt to make a Class more in line with the others they went over board. It's the same they did with Mages and (depending who you ask) Warriors. Funny how all the Rogues that were QQing over Warriors being OP (while Warriors defended we were not!) are now saying Rogues are perfectly in line with the other classes now that they themselves are OP.
I always found Rogues very good at ganking in open world, probably the best class at open world 1 on 1 pvp given similar rank/gear. Their stealth abilities always give them the edge open world. I haven't noticed much increase in open world rogue ganking (there were always 1 or 2 hiding in the daily area) just WF is 3/4 Rogues now. Out of 15 players typically 10 are Rogue.

Speaking from a rogue point of view, this is what I often see when I open on someone from stealth:

    1) Player is standing there.
    2) I swivel around to their back and open.
    3) Player stands there.
    4) I hit second attack.
    5) Player stands there.
    6) I hit third attack.
    7) Player takes a few steps forward.
    8) I follow and land finisher.
    9) Player stands there.
    10) I continue to attack.
    11) Player half turns to face me.
    12) I swivel to their back and continue to attack.
    13) Player stands there.
    14) Player dies.

Protip: Stop turning with your keyboard, stop expecting to survive by standing there and soaking my damage, learn to use CC (my DR timers are almost always fresh and ripe for the stuns when I open from stealth), and learn to adapt to a changing environment.

That's how you succeed in PvP. It's non-neogotiable. If you can't adapt, you die. You're not playing against scripted AI opponents tuned to suit the lowest common denominator. Stop treating PvP like you are.
