Default Suggestion: Matchmaking System for warfronts

Many people have proposed segregating warfronts based on prestige ranks? What about just balancing the two sides instead of segregation. You could assign a score to each player based on rank and preform and balance the two sides accordingly.

For example (please note that these factors could be scaled to a more appropriate value):
    Rank score = 1 + 0.25*(rank -1)
    Preform score = 0.05*(group size - 1)

    So a rank 8 player in a 5-man preform group would count for (2.75 + 0.2) = 2.95 points, and a rank 2 player solo queueing would count for (1.25 + 0) = 1.25 points.

So a whitefall game could look like the following:
Defiant: 5man group of ranks 2,3,4,7,8; 3man group of ranks 2,6,6; 2man group of ranks 1,2; pugs of ranks 1,1,2,3,7 for a total of 26.4 points and 15 players
Guardian: 4man group of ranks 7,7,7,7; 5man group of ranks 3,4,5,6,6; 3man group of ranks 1,2,3; pug of rank 1 for total of 26.4 points and 13 players

The system could be designed to try for even numbers of players on each side where possible (if it doesn't greatly increase queue time) and solve so that each sides total was within 5% of the other sides for an even match.

Yes, this system is complicated. But it can all be in the backend and invisible to the player. The player would just see more even games, with a marginal influence on queue times.

    Thoughts?

Or just do it like in DAOC and Warhammer...rank 1 kills rank 8 and get 500 favor, same rank 8 kills same rank 1, he get 100 favor (numbers are irrelevant, method is important)
Also, healers get more favor for healing and such
Then again, those were different games, Rift is totally about time invested

Well, not really worried about balancing rewards so much as trying to get them more competitive. So if one side has a lot of r7-8's, it will be offset with them having lots of low ranks or potentially fewer players on their team to give an even match to the opposing faction.
