    Default Apprentice PvP System Please

Rank 6+ should mean something. How about meaning you can choose one apprentice per WF?

A R8 in a pug WF should be able to assign someone up to, say, R4 as an Apprentice. This person receives a substantial boost in Valor (nothing else, i.e. no more DPS, hp, etc) while they are in _range_ of their Mentor. I am thinking substantial means something like 400 or 500, depending on what rank the person is.

Example: An R1 Rogue enters Codex. He has 4100hp unbuffed and 50 valor. An R8 warrior notices said Rogue is going to be practically useless against the R7-8 Clerics, Warriors and Mages on the other team, and sends the following "Rank 8 warrior Brosef requests to make you his apprentice. Do you accept?" message.

The R1 clicks "Accept" and any time he is within 35m of the Warrior he gets +500 valor.

Also, the R8 should receive bonus favor, very small, say +1 per PvP kill, for having an apprentice.

    Thoughts?

This will only make botting all that much more attractive. Instead of single botters, you'll have duo botters.

    No.

Perhaps 500 is too much... 300 or so seems reasonable. Just need to take the sting out of being a Fresh 50.

    No.
Your post makes no sense. Why, because of the +1 favor bonus? Fine, remove it. Then there's no incentive, but the valor stays and fresh 50s feel like they aren't always going to get facerolled.

Re-work an underpowered and/or under-desired r6 ability or a PvP soul ability for a sensible class to let them buff an ally with +x amount of valor and you might be able to see this.

Otherwise people would only say going up against a team of r8's is even heavier of a stack cause then all those dudes can buff up the weak ones a bit. Also not many rank jumps give you a valor boost of +300 - 500 that quickly (ignoring stuff you can get from Unseen) so the cut-off rank for this eligibility would make the following rank seem like you lost valor if you were often able to get mentored. You would go from having a 300 - 500 valor buff to now hitting a rank where you buy a handful of gear, get an extra +100 - 150 valor, and are now unable to get buffed by other players for 300 - 500.

IMO the top idea is the only sensible one but, as far as options to give a class like say, a cleric, who plays a large role in group survivability, would probably frown at a valor buff as there are much more powerful things that could be given and a valor buff would only be useful of gimpier people who do not have a good amount of valor themselves. Ie. this buff would be kind of redundant on most r6+ players so even making it an r5/6+ buff would serve no purpose for gameplay with equally geared allies.

    Just imo tho

Interesting thoughts. I'm sure the numbers could be worked such that getting the Apprentice buff for valor would coincide properly with your rank. A larger boost at R1 and dropping to a smaller boost at R2, R3, R4, etc.

Also, the added dynamic of the range factor would lead to teams working more closely together (to keep the buff you gotta be in range). And I think it's a way to help PUGs be more organized. As a Defiant I can say that would be very appreciated!

More complicated than it needs to be.

Just make all PvP gear sets have the same valor.
This is why we can't have nice things.
