Default I fixed Warfronts & World PVP - Can I Get a Cookie?

There shall be no more than 4 active ranks of Prestige available at any time. When a new set of Prestige gear becomes available, the oldest gear will be retired and will no longer be available for purchase. Prestige grinds will be revised accordingly. This will be effective immediately. The current ranks will now be 5-8. Rank 2,3 and 4 gear will be retired. Players currently at rank 4 or halfway between rank 3 and 4 will be retroactively upgraded to rank 5, and gear retroactively updated accordingly.

In order to minimize PVP gear being used to bootstrap players for high level PVE content, Valor will now negatively impact focus.

Losing a warfront will give each member of the losing team an 8% bonus to healing, damage and HP when they enter their next warfront. Winning or deserting a warftont causes this bonus to be removed. This bonus stacks up to 3 times.

All buffs cast within 6 seconds of resurrecting in warfronts (graveyard, brez, or Scion bridge) cost 0 mana.

Warfront Graveyards: Spawn camping is no more. Anti-spawn-camp beacons have been placed in all warfront graveyards. Standing within 15m gives players immunity to all damage. Graveyards have been redesigned such that they are not accessible once you have left them.

All red balls have been reworked. They no longer provide a damage buff, but give the player a one-time use ability on a 2 minute timer that allows them to cast a non-cleansible debuff on a single target which increases damage that target receives by 50% for 20 seconds. Does not stack.

No more blue balls. No more green balls.

PVP-specific planar essences (with valor!) are now also random drops from corpses in PVP.

Engaging in Rift PVP against a team of greater numbers will result in proportionally increased rewards for the underdog.

    Map-specific:

Escalation: Whitefall Steppes. After realizing that nearly every real world ball game involves placing the scoring objective on your opponent's side instead of your own, EWS has been reworked. Shards are now bombs that you use for destroying an opponent's gun. The objective now is to pick up the bomb and place it on your opponent's gun. 3 bombs will destroy the gun and win the game.

Black Garden: Shrines containing red power-up balls have been brought 50m closer to the center of the map.

Port Scion: No additiona favor/prestige bonuses will be given to players who attack others while holding a shard.

Whitefall Steppes: Sorry rogues. Teleport abilities while carrying the shard will cause the shard to be dropped. This also applies to abilities like rift walk and flicker.

Codex: Each control point grants the same amount of points/second when occupied.

    Fun Stuff:

Titles: Titles are earned and need to be maintained. Prestige ranks each have a title (e.g. Fodder,Private,Lieutenant,General). With each new set of prestige gear, players will lose their existing title and be demoted to the next lower rank title (Generals-->Lieutenants,Privates-->Fodder,etc). Players who earn the MAX_RANK 3 consecutive times will receive a special title and an in-game banner that can be placed in the ground.

Non-combat pets you take out while flagged for PVP will also be flagged for PVP and will engage in PVP combat if they encounter another flagged non-combat pet.

Earning all current in-game PVP related achievements will reward your character with a special pose they can emote.

Retired PVP gear will become costume gear and can be purchased for favor.

The only fail part of this post is valor negatively effecting hit/focus. With hit/focus being important in PVP (which it obviously should have no effect whatsoever), this would mean that upgrading your PVP gear would be even MORE of a detriment to your overall DPS than it is even now. Fail all around.

whoops - forgot to add that:

+Hit/Focus do not impact PVP. Attacks all share the same base miss chance.

I can see Trion doing this - they like to screw over the players that have been playing the game any amount of time in favor of new players...

In order to minimize PVP gear being used to bootstrap players for high level PVE content, Valor will now negatively impact focus.
Trying to keep the BiS PvE'ers out of PvP, eh?

Losing a warfront will give each member of the losing team an 8% bonus to healing, damage and HP when they enter their next warfront. Winning or deserting a warftont causes this bonus to be removed. This bonus stacks up to 3 times.
When little kids play soccer, parents like to pretend nobody is keeping score... but the losers know they are losers.

All buffs cast within 6 seconds of resurrecting in warfronts (graveyard, brez, or Scion bridge) cost 0 mana.
Who lives 6 seconds when spawning at the bridge in Scion?

Warfront Graveyards: Spawn camping is no more. Anti-spawn-camp beacons have been placed in all warfront graveyards. Standing within 15m gives players immunity to all damage. Graveyards have been redesigned such that they are not accessible once you have left them.
Outside of the bridge in Scion... er... well, you know.

All red balls have been reworked. They no longer provide a damage buff, but give the player a one-time use ability on a 2 minute timer that allows them to cast a non-cleansible debuff on a single target which increases damage that target receives by 50% for 20 seconds. Does not stack.
I lol'd. So instead of a single person that gets a minor boost - you basically can target somebody as a free kill.

No more blue balls. No more green balls.
I think most guys would agree with no more blue balls...just saying.

PVP-specific planar essences (with valor!) are now also random drops from corpses in PVP.
Useless PvP essences... kind of like the useless PvE essences?

Engaging in Rift PVP against a team of greater numbers will result in proportionally increased rewards for the underdog.
If they manage to do anything...

You know, as much as I may have picked on other things you've said in this post... I really like this idea.

Black Garden: Shrines containing red power-up balls have been brought 50m closer to the center of the map.
With your free kill red balls?

Port Scion: No additiona favor/prestige bonuses will be given to players who attack others while holding a shard.
Greater risk involved should offer greater reward....

Whitefall Steppes: Sorry rogues. Teleport abilities while carrying the shard will cause the shard to be dropped. This also applies to abilities like rift walk and flicker.
    Slowboating, eh?

Codex: Each control point grants the same amount of points/second when occupied.
Nah. It's called Codex. Everybody to Dex! Lol...

    Fun Stuff:

Titles: Titles are earned and need to be maintained. Prestige ranks each have a title (e.g. Fodder,Private,Lieutenant,General). Players who earn the MAX_RANK 3 consecutive times will receive a special title and an in-game banner that can be placed in the ground.
There are already titles. You can wear a lower rank title and wardrobe lower gear to trick folks into attacking you... it can be fun.

Non-combat pets you take out while flagged for PVP will also be flagged for PVP and will engage in PVP combat if they encounter another flagged non-combat pet.
Warrior non-combat pets will be OP.

Earning all current in-game PVP related achievements will reward your character with a special pose they can emote.
    Crotch chop?
    Grabbing ankles?

Retired PVP gear will become costume gear and can be purchased for favor.
Can already costume it to trick folks...

Yeah, we need to discuss how OP the Warrior non-combat pets will be. Pesky lil' buggers will AoE BI LW to all the other non-combat pets... nerf Warrior non-combat pets!

The escalation rework is a really great idea! Everyone wants to rush the enemy base anyway, might as well make that the game plan. If you had to place the bomb and then there was time for the other team to remove/defuse it I think there could be some good gameplay.

Actually, I'm not trying to do that. I'm trying to tune it such that the gear differential isn't so huge that it discourages new players (which it is!).

This wouldn't affect it at all. You can roll in with BiS PVE gear and go PVP all day. The focus on this gear isn't going to help at all in PVP.

The point is that players shouldn't walk out of the spawn down 10% mana just because they had to rebuff.

Selfishly you could get a free kill out of it (and I suppose it's an ego boost to new level 50's), or you could strategically use it to take down that pesky healer or nasty warrior who is tearing everyone up and potentially change the outcome of the game.

I think the team that is better able to divide and conquer should win over the team that can zerg one spot and stay there. Besides, think of the crazy fun battles there would be on the bridge to the Vault.

With the new system, PVP gear is traded in for the next upgrade. With the proposal above, there would be no way to buy the old gear 'for fun', so, hence, the costume idea.

Person A paid the favor to gear up 1-8.
Person B paid for 5 what Person A paid for 1.

It would continue as Ranks were added.

There is no doubt that nobody wants to be R1/2 fighting against R8s at this point, but there are ways to address that without punishing those who have been playing the game for any period of time.

This wouldn't affect it at all. You can roll in with BiS PVE gear and go PVP all day. The focus on this gear isn't going to help at all in PVP.
It was a case of addressing those PvP items that some PvE folks consider BiS. With those items having Valor on them, they would no longer be BiS - so it would keep those PvE folks out of PvP. There have been several threads talking about how "bad" PvE folks are at PvP and them showing up in WFs ruin it for the PvPers, etc (course, I disagree with that blanket statement; but there are cases where it is true).

The point is that players shouldn't walk out of the spawn down 10% mana just because they had to rebuff.
Oh, I get that. Course, I've posted in a few threads and even started threads about the number of buffs different builds "start" out with after a respawn. The guy with 2 buffs is good to head out at 1.5s (the GCD for the first). The guy with 6-10 buffs... heh, it's going to take him a little while to get back to the battle.

I rarely find myself down any mana by the time I'm ready to engage... my big issue is how long it takes before I'm ready to head out again before I can engage.

Selfishly you could get a free kill out of it (and I suppose it's an ego boost to new level 50's), or you could strategically use it to take down that pesky healer or nasty warrior who is tearing everyone up and potentially change the outcome of the game.
Like I said, it is a free kill. It has nothing to do with being selfish. You even gave the examples. There is a healer, hit them for a debuff so they take 50% more damage - they're dead...free kill.

I think the team that is better able to divide and conquer should win over the team that can zerg one spot and stay there. Besides, think of the crazy fun battles there would be on the bridge to the Vault.
You can't win Codex by taking Dex alone. You have to split your forces as is. In fact, you can't even just split them as two and sit on Dex + 1, because the enemy would be able to overwhelm a single node and take it so that you would be losing again.

Even if you have Dex + 1, you need to pressure one or both of the other nodes. If you have 3 - Dex, you still need to pressure Dex in some fashion.

And I cannot believe you said this: Besides, think of the crazy fun battles there would be on the bridge to the Vault.

I'm hoping that was said with sarcasm, jest, or some form of humor. I so want to reach through the screen and smack the fools that are always fighting on the bridge near Vault and costing the match. Vault and the bridge by Vault make me think of GM and the bridge next to BS in AB over WoW... in any given Codex, you can always tell the fails that used to play WoW as they're all fighting over on the bridge by Vault while the other team is winning.

R1/2 gear is very cheap. Favor gain now is very fast. It would take no time to get the Favor for the visible pieces of R1/2 gear to show and then sport that starter title instead of your actual current rank title.

Personally, I'm against costumes in PvP and the ability to display a lower level rank title than you have. Sure, I've done it - it can be funny to have somebody come up to thinking they're going to roll you and end up hitting the respawn button... but still, on a certain level I'm against it. Short of it actually being some form of illusionary spell - it simply makes no sense that I'm running around wearing armor on top of my armor in that sense.

You started out pretty well with your 1st paragraph, then things got a bit crazy thereafter.

Some pretty awesome ideas there, a shame Trion probably won't implement them. Oh well, there's always Deus Ex 3.
