Default Why do WoW kiddies and PvE'rs have limited imaginations?

Ever notice that any discussion of PvP with WoW Kiddies and PvE'rs ends up with them citing the absolute worst example of a scenario that they can imagine as what it would be like? I mean, mention FFA PvP and they automatically go "Everyone would just be running around ganking eachother in Meridian, herpaderp, I don't wanna farm for hours to get my loot stolen, ppl would just group with me to kill me" ect. Like there's no other way to design FFA PvP into a game that isn't instanced, right? There's no way the mechanics could prevent in capital ganking or prevent people from just grouping and ganking, right?

Then any game with good PvP must have absolutely no other content right? And you can't have different kinds of servers, so a game with good PvP would have to be for PvPers and no one else right? This is the type of idiocy anyone who dares to think outside of the box has to deal with.

Why do people continue to use "WoW" as an example for anything?

WoW was the first mmo for tons of people, so naturally they expect future ones to be similar.

That isn't the problem in itself.

The problem is that WoW was horrible in both its principles and evolution.

The idea of "make it shiny and easily accessible at the cost of depth" is the problem.

Why do PvPers always complain about PvErs not being PvPers?

Pure PvP games are in general not fun and they fail. There have been tons of them. Apparently to some PvPers PvP isn't fun if it doesn't punish people for playing it.

There are plenty of these games being made, there used to be many more but hey, they fail. Trion doesnt want to fail.

As for your questions, which is going to happen? Players will behave at their very best or at their very worst? And you wonder why people who don't want to pvp expect the very worst?

Eve online tries to be everything to everyone.

Know what happens? PvPers find exploits in the system to farm said PvErs and grief them on a regular basis.

I think you got lost, dungeon and raid forum is this way

We just think people that are bad at things should be punished until they get better.

Oh, and as far as major mmos failing and canceled goes:

Tabula Rasa - pve - check
Matrix Online - pve - check

    Pattern?

As it should be. The game is built around player conflicts. Be it combat, espionage or economy.

The problems you have with the game are what makes up its charm.

DAoC ruined PvP forever, because they took something that had potential, and gave into the masses on the forums. Other companies followed suit.

The only way DAOC possibly ruined pvp was by providing such an awesome game that it makes a tough act to follow.

If mmo pvp is a bell curve, DAOC represents the highest middle point.
