I'm melee, i don't have casting spells, moving forward, backward, jumping or whatever i can use all my abilities so where is problem?

I don't move backward when i use soul which requires casting, so where is problem?

Moving backwards is seen as poor pvp skills.

The "pro" pvpers strafe while jumping around like bunnies on crack.

    You asked....

When you backpeddle, you move at half the normal speed, if not slower.

You might as well use your arrow keys to turn while your at it.

Yes i move at slower speed, but does that really matter as long as i hit the enemy? No.
And i use mouse to turn.

I really don't see any reason for a melee class to backpeddle period. I also cringe when I see a MM or ranger doing it as well.

You asked why people said backpeddle more, and I told you.

People associate backpeddling with lack of skill. If you want to attack someone while moving you should hold in either A or D, while holding in your mouse button, so you can move at full speed while strafing.

You have two choices. You can move in a certain direction very slowly, or you can accomplish the same thing at normal running speed. There's never a time when moving at normal running speed will be worse for you than moving slowly. There are many times when moving slowly will be worse for you than moving at normal running speed.

Ergo, people who habitually backpeddle place themselves at a disadvantage over those that turn and strafe out.

I personally turn off always run when I pvp, so no one can tell when I am back pedalling.

Just kidding, like anything else there is a time and a place for it. Like the warrior tanking rogues, or a MM just on the edge of a mages range perhaps. If you dont need to move far (like seriously 2 or 3 yards), s key might be for you otherwise, turn and strafe.

I've never lost a fight to a strafer, ever. I just turn, and follow them while they do ten times the work I'm doing. Cracks me up. But when I do choose to move, I can almost always avoid 50% of the damage strafers could have done, because they really don't know how to strafe.

However, a quick jump backwards at the right time can gain you distance, which is useful for some souls, or classes in other games. Anyone disputing this are the same people who can't get out of bronze in games like SC2, or claim to be good at PvP, when they really are not.

For casting classes who're forced to stand still to cast, jumping backwards gets that seperation immediately, and allows them to start their casting. Had they ran forward, they'd also have to turn around to start casting.
