Thread: Why would I ever play melee if ranged does four times more damage?

    Default Why would I ever play melee if ranged does four times more damage?

    I have to strafe, to control my movement, position my attacks, while all that pyro does is sitting in cirle like some pvp handicap pressing 2-3 buttons doing FOUR times more burst I can. FROM RANGE! Same goes to any mage and caster clerics and to some extent any ranged class. Wheres the logic?

    As melee:
    I'm ten times easier to focus fire,
    I don't have 100% up time on target as ranged classes,
    I have no more surivability than most ranged classes,
    I have to waste 862378623 GCDs to keep target snared
    I'm harder to heal (out of range usually)
    and many other cons

    Why the **** would I punish myself by playing melee?

    -I think it is much easier to focus fire on ranged characters
    -What do you mean up time?
    -862,378,623 almost a billion :P
    -Not if the healer knows what they are doing
    -Not really.

    Stop complaining and re-roll, it's not worth it if you aren't a Cleric or a Mage. People who try to defend classes as balanced are quite frankly, delusional. A few more disadvantages to the list:
    - Spellpower scales better
    - There is no armor equivalent to mitigate magic damage

    Melee DAMAGE is in a pretty good place right now. I definitely feel like I do extremely good damage on my warrior.

    The problem is melee defenses. Nightblade/infil rogues have tons of them - where are the defenses for DPS warriors, though? Having a little bit more HP doesn't cut it.

    Melee damage is definitely not in right place now. Melee with its all weakness and lack of survivability should be doing AT LEAST twice as much dps as ranged. But how could you know that by playing cleric? Lvl 20 warrior alts doesnt count, sorry.

    Oh, you're one of those melee classes who runs ahead of his team, engages when no one else is around, or being focused, and cries because he got killed being out of place. It's no wonder you have a lot of problems playing your class.

    Try this; sit back, watch the fight develop, pick targets (usually those melee like you, who overextend themselves), and after killing them, or any other melee who do the same as you do, protecting your casters, and clerics, THEN AND ONLY THEN finally move into the ranged line, and start shredding them.

    Melee doesn't automatically mean; OH MY GEEZ I GOTZ TO CHARGE AHEAD BLINDLY WITHOUT THINKING.

    Well, you could solve it either way. I'd rather warriors get a lot more survivability for every soul to compensate. Sure, more burst would be nice, but then everyone's going to cry about how they barely died to this warrior being pocket healed who blew every cooldown and only got out with 1 health left after managing to string along CC and close the gap over the course of 40 seconds. I'd opt for better survivability to avoid a repeat of 1.1, since the devs are apparently very adamant about keeping melee down.

    The OPs comments make it clear you have no idea how to play melee. That being the case there is NO reason why you should play melee.

    Solution = reroll.................yesterday.

    Give it 2 months. PvP will be balanced because everyone will be mages or clerics. Once rogues and Warriors are out of the picture, every thing will be in harmony.
