So in this week's hotfix, a wall was added to the orb things in Cahail's room, preventing us from cheesing the aoes. Well this is a long overdue fix... but it has led to another issue.
Simply put, 4 aoes going off at once is often too much for a non-raid level pug. Unless you are running 2 dedicated and mobile healers, one for the tank and one for the group, then a person caught in the wrong spot when 4 aoes pop up is pretty likely to die.
Then there's the fact that the aoes in the 4 corners cover a decent portion of the center as well. So when you do get an aoe in each of the 4 corners, there is only a small portion of the very center of the room that is a safe spot.
Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that this is not doable... but it has become frustrating to do it with pugs who are just, not raid geared.
I have healed through it with a group of raid geared players, all with 20-22k hp and good dps. We got 1 unlucky set of 4, and everyone had enough health to get out of the ring of death. In the end we got him down in something like 90 seconds.
I have also healed it with a group of people who pretty much JUST started dungeons (gear wise). These people knew the mechanics, but they had 15-16.5k hp and considerably lower dps.
When the aoes tick for 4k, 15k hp means you die in 4 seconds, 21k means you die in 6... those 2 seconds are often the difference between life and "brez plz" in that situation. Combined with the lower dps of an "undergeared" group, and we have had wipes at 10-20% because the fight dragged on and we got more 4 aoe sets and had only 1 brez.
So I would like to suggest one of 2 changes.
1. Reduce the damage of the aoes to ~75% of the current damage. That will give people with lesser gear a chance to get out of a bad aoe setup.
2. Limit the aoes to 3. 2 is very easy, 3 requires you to pay attention and move. 4... often comes down to rng, which is very bad for content that is meant to be pug'ed.
