Default Zaviel - Hard Mode tactics

So - whats different in tactics or dps in Zaviel Hard mode?

We kill him too easy - so i'm wondering if we have what it takes to kill him in Hard mode too.

ALso - what does he drops as hard mode?

    Regards,
    Simos.

There are two differences with HM Zaviel: the dps check and the laser spawns.

The enrage is shortened, Zaviel has extra health, and you need to kill a idol before anything else; these all contribute to the increased dps requirement.

The laser spawns are random, but are quite easy to dodge.

She is the easiest hard-mode by far, but note that HMs only drop one additional armor-relic upgrade.

    Thank you ahov.
And if we enable hard mode by killing the idol - and see we fail, can we do him normal mode next time ? or once we enabled hard mode we have to complete it hard mode?

The hard mode activates when you kill the idol and you need to do it on every pull where you attempt the hard mode. So if the hard mode turns out to be too difficult you can always just kill it normal mode.

For what its worth the shortened enrage only starts once the Idol has been killed. This can easily be seen by killing the idols at different times and noting the enrage isn't exactly the same time every pull. So, if you need to squeeze out every bit of DPS you can, save your cooldowns until after the Idol is down.

Also, on the Arc Wield mechanic it will pull the two people who get it close together. This is important because if they are on opposite sides of a laser spawn it will instant kill one of them occasionally which can be annoying. Arc Wield also hits a lot harder in HM so can't be too slow in moving for it, you should take 0-1 ticks of damage anyway.

Even though it is the easiest hard mode I wouldn't really recommend doing it unless you have a majority of content on farm, probably up to Regulos.

Mechanically, there's not much else different about this fight. However, the DPS check here is VERY tight. We wipe more to low health enrage on this HM than either of the other two. I would definitely not recommend spending time on it until all the rest of the regular fights are on farm.

The only other mechanic that is different is that the healing orbs can't be interrupted, so they have to be killed. Otherwise, red bubble spawn randomly throughout the room (3-4 at a time). They pulse for 3-4 seconds and then a laser beam begins spinning in them counterclockwise. Touching the beam will one-shot you - the red bubble itself does absolutely nothing and is perfectly safe to stand in.

Position your tacs behind the idol so they can hit idol + zaviel + orbs

Have people not fail due to movement, have someone calling the movement while raid dodges the lasers to get to the conducers.

    Watch out for arc (still)

Zaviel and orbs full heal to increased health after hm is activated. I was working on some hard mode guides but got busy with school. Can post a rough draft on here shortly when at home computer

Oh god the formatting on this is gonna be awful.

    Health: Zaviel 49.4 Million HP
    Enrage timer:5 minutes 30 seconds
    DPS Requirement: 170k
    Suggested Raid Setup:
Tanks: 2 tanks, any kind will work
Healers: 4 raid healers (For example: 2 lgv chloro, 2 wardens)
    Support: 1 bard, 1 archon
DPS: 12 dps, ranged or melee will work

The hardmode will be initiated by killing the idol that will spawn on the left side of the room. Do not waste any DPS on the boss because she will full heal after the idol is defeated and hardmode is activated.

    New mechanics:
    Everything hits harder
Spheres of Repair - can no longer be interrupted. These should be burned down ASAP ST after the idol is defeated to keep her from healing much.
Lasers! - . Very similar to last phase of Crucia lasers, but spawn 5 at a time. Give a warning pulse for about 4 seconds before they are placed. The red circle itself isn't harmful, but the laser beams inside will kill you. By the time a new set spawn the old set will fade away.

Phase 1: Boss, Spheres, Orbs until 50%

2 Parts: Boss Phase, then Power Conductor phase -> repeat til 50%. To meet the enrage you should be getting a maximum of 2 power conductor phases.

    BOSS PHASE (lasts a minute):

Sphere of Deconstruction: Hits random targets with Clinging Plasma dot. Killing these after the spheres of repair will get rid of this nuisance.
Sphere of Repair: Can't be interrupted anymore! Burn these down quickly so they don't heal the boss.
Arc weld: 2 random players get Arc debuff and are pulled into each other. You must run far away to separate, the closer you are the more damage you'll take. Does more damage in hardmode so be on top of this or you'll kill someone else.
Dissonant Vitality: Tank swap mechanic, should tank swap every 3 or 4. Each one reduces max hp by 5%.
Skewer: Cast on Tank. Deals 75% HP damage. If you have >5 stacks of Dissonant Vitality you'll die.
Lasers!: These laser bubbles can spawn anywhere around the arena. Everyone will be moving around to make sure they don't get hit by these. You can move through the red circles if you're careful to not get hit by a laser as you're running through. If you have a stack at ranged make sure they don't get cut off from the melee group.
Overload: Buff stacks on boss, appear 2 at a time. You'll see a circle at the feet of the active tank. Whoever's in the circle will take a hit of the buff stack and it hurts them. So you need 2 tanks close together in this circle. Melee at max range so they're not in this circle. This is especially important because you'll be moving around more during Hardmode so melee have to watch their distance from the tanks.
Energy Conduit: Debuff on active tank, sometime goes on other random people, have 4 seconds to cleanse or they die.

POWER CONDUCTOR PHASE (lasts until Conductors are killed):

Power Conductors: Spawn at 2nd part of Phase-1. must be killed to remove Zaviel's immunity. The red channel itself is harmless.
Arc Cutter: In the red channels that go from the power conductors to zaviel are yellow swirls that pass through the channel to give Zaviel energy. They will hurt you if you touch them. Avoid these yellow swirls when moving between power conductors.
Photovoltaic Eruption: During this phase, Zaviel will continually AoE the raid with this ability. Damage occurs every 2 seconds. This is where warden CDs come in handy. Hits a bit harder in hardmode.
Ion Destruction: Once all 4 conductors are dead Zaviel casts Ion Destruction - large AoE damage. Should be power-drained, shielded and other survival CDs if you have any (tactician / rogue tank). Depending on the amount of energy she has gained from the Power Conductors, this effects how much damage she will do. You can survive 80% energy with the proper raid cooldowns. If you kill the power conductors quickly enough, you won't have to worry about this damage spike.

    Tanks:
Tank Zaviel in an open area. You'll usually start in the middle then move her around a bit due to lasers.
Tank swap every 3-4 stacks of Dissonant Vitality.
    Stack together to soak overload.
For the air phase lead the raid around the room in order to kill the conductors. You can follow the drawing above. Make sure to dodge the lasers!

    Healers:
You can stay stacked with ranged or melee.
If you get Arc move away from the other person with Arc.
Dispell Energy Conduit from the tank or random raid member who will get it.
On the power conductor phase wardens should have cooldowns ready. If you try to spam Healing Effusion you will run out of mana very fast - stick to healing cataract.
Get ready to heal through ion destruction
Raid healers can stay towards the center of the room in the gaps made by the red channels. This will allow you to heal the entire raid easily without much movement.
Stay away from the lasers as they spawn!

    DPS:
Stay stacked with either the ranged or melee group. This aids in allowing those with arc to separate.
If you get arc make sure you run away from the other person.
Kill Power Conductors fast. They will have more health in hardmode.

Phase 2: Lasers beams, lasers walls, and laser waves!

    Mechanics:
Energy Conduit: Debuff on active tank, have 4 seconds to cleanse.
Dissonant Vitality: Tank swap mechanic, should tank swap every 3 or 4. Each one reduces max hp by 5%.
Overload: Buff stacks on boss, appear 2 at a time. You'll see a circle at the feet of the active tank. Whoever's in the circle will take a hit of the buff stack and it hurts them. So you need 2 tanks close together in this circle. Melee at max range so they're not in this circle. Very important!
Skewer: Cast on Tank. Deals 75% HP damage. If you have >5 stacks of Dissonant Vitality you'll die.
Ensnaring jolt: When you see an emote on the screen "Run while you can" you need to keep moving, every second you stay still you will gain a stack of a debuff that hurts a lot.
Lasers!: These laser bubbles can spawn anywhere around the arena. Everyone will be moving around to make sure they don't get hit by these. You can move through the red circles if you're careful to not get hit by a laser as you're running through. At this point it is easiest if ranged is stacked with melee to try and avoid the lasers as a group.
900 Gigahertz: Same as in normal mode. I'll explain via pictures. At the beginning of this phase Zaviel will cast 2 blue orbs and 2 red orbs around the arena. The blue orbs will be traveling counterclockwise and will be connected by a laser beam. Do not touch this laser beam or you will die. You should be positioned right behind the blue orbs and be walking along with their movement. This mechanic is complicated by the other lasers, be aware that you're not running into another laser while you're dodging these ones.

The red orbs will be moving clockwise. When the red orbs are at 90 degree angles from the blue orbs they will spawn fire waves. These should be dodged because if they hit you they will hurt and remove resist for the duration of the dot. The fire waves have two patterns.
They will shoot pattern 1 twice, then pattern 2 twice, pattern 1 twice, pattern 2 twice, etc. To successfully dodge pattern 2 the raid should be on the exact center of the room and not panic and run into the waves. You can also dodge pattern 2 on the outside but after the first wave fires you have to move backwards a bit to avoid getting hit by the waves coming from the opposite orb of the room.

    Tanks:
Stack together to remove boss' buff stacks.
Tank swap every 3-4 stacks of Dissonant Vitality on you.
You can keep kiting on the blue laser wall behind you, but we find it helpful to have periods of standing still and periods of movement. For example: stay in place away from lasers until she does the run emote, then everyone dodges the white lasers to get on the following edge of the blue laser wall again.

    Healers:
Dispell Energy Conduit from active tank
    Dodge waves
Run when you see the emote
Use cooldowns during the run emote and the lasers in case people get debuffed to try and keep them from dying. Personal accountability is also important here though - it's not really your fault if they die.

    DPS:
    Dodge waves and lasers
Run when you see the emote
Make sure you don't get too close to the tanks and die to overload
