Default Ednless Eclipse - Saetos boss - tanking mini's

    Hello,
Once again i'll be glad to hear your advices.

We have 3 tanks raid geared and generally speaking we dont face any specific problems.
    1 warrior, 1 cleric and 1 rogue.

We tried with each of them tank the 3 mini bosses during the first encounter in Endless Eclpise.
All tanks were getting hit for 16k * 3 bosses and boom down.
We managed to keep them up - but i think we overhealed with result to miss dps check.

Whats the general idea for a tank to stay alive with those? Maybe we are missing some tactic?

YES we did purge in time the stacks, so we were not dead from this.

    Any advice - suggestions?

We just use 2 tanks for this fight. A cleric tank has all the bosses except the one that everyone is DPSing at the moment. The warrior tank pulls one boss out and away from the rest of the bosses.

Each boss has someone assigned to keep the purges under control and they will call for assistance if needed on purges. (I purge 2 of them for example). We also have a couple of people that just stay on arebus full time to ensure the shield is taken down everytime while the rest of the raid just stays on the current dps target.

We use a defiler with links on this fight for each of the tanks and then 2 wardens and 2 chloro's as the other healers.

You might just need to keep the 2 tanks separated better.

I highly recommend a good defiler healer for this. really helped cut down tank damage

making sure they stay purged is also absolute key

I believe we were using one chloro to heal the solo tanking tank. then the defiler kept our cleric tank up solo with some help from the raid healers. add a second tank healer there if you feel its necessary (haven't done that fight again since the heal changes)

A combination of the above two posters is a good strategy.
Have 1 tank hold the current target and 1 tank hold the others.
You should use a Defiler on pretty much every 20 man encounter, they provide an extreme amount of mitigation for one raid slot.
    Nope.

Make sure you're purging the damage buff.

Also make sure that your tanks are stacking endurance like their lives depend on it.

Because they do. Avoidance, block, and deflect simply don't matter when you can go from full health to dead in two or three seconds.

This is a waste of dps. Your ranged dps can easily switch and burn the shield in plenty of time.

Yep, We have done it both ways. But, for us, we found it better to just leave a couple of broken sab rogues and arebus since it didn't switch damage targets as well as other specs. With this change we found our kill times to be better as all DPS targets just had one current target. We haven't been into EE since the broken sab bug fixes killed the spec and with the rogues going to Marksmen now as the range choice we may see raid target switching rather than dedicated DPS assignments.

But since the enrage is easy and it is far simpler for DPS just to focus on one thing at a time we will likely just stick to what has worked for us for the past 6 weeks. And for the original poster who is still progressing we found this strat to away a lot of confusion in an at first somewhat confusing feeling encounter. It made it very simple:

Stack on the arrow, move out of pink, DPS the target marked until there are just 2 bosses left, then get in when you need to and get out of pink when it comes.
