Just wanted to bump this thread. The mechanic was working as intended during the first attempt, but after a wipe it began to bug out and so we ended using the strategy mentioned in this thread to avoid the bug. From that point the fight was trivial, so it definitely worked. It would be nice, however, to have this bug fixed since it's been around so long.
I confirm this method of running around works sweet.
It makes the boss as easy as the 2nd.
Only challenge now is the 3rd boss only.
Cleared yesterday for the first time just running in circle around her at the right time.
Just wanted to post here as well. My guild also ran into this problem all night. Hence why I am here now reading all this. lol Anyways, we had no clue all the other objects etc. were causing the issue. Now we do, so thanks for that. Hopefully all our lovely devs got well rested during the holidays and can now get on this. Thanks for all the tips!!

We were doing this boss last night, running in a circle did not help, and that is the way we normally do it.
Boss will cast Storm Blast where people are running through, people continue to run, no one is in the box, everyone dies.
Boss will cast Storm Blast on the other side of the room, no one is in the box, everyone dies.
and my personal favourite.
Everyone dies to storm blast, THEN boss starts to cast Storm Blast.

also for the first 3 weeks if you didnt clear the instance on day one jultharins lazer walls were up and you couldnt run in a circle. Happened the first week and we ended up using p2p port on the breath. Was easy enough, and considering how ridiculously easy this boss is it was the one thing that made things interesting.
Must resist urge to call dunsparrow bad....
