    Default Public Rift raiding pitfals

So we were doing the DRR, we won it and playerX decides to scam the raid looter by litteraly typing in his "roll" of 99. He got the loot because to the raid looter it looked like he rolled a 99. The player typed the roll in exactly as it looked as if he had won it. He gets the lesser, equips it and goes afk even as everyone was screaming about it. Yes the looter should have noticed the word Raid in front of his name but he missed it. It was an intentional scam and the raid got jipped.

Reported him and Trions response was they don't get involved in loot distribution. Thanks Trion...

My fault in the whole affair? Raiding DRRs with a PUG.

Gonna say this, PUG is already almost a badword and yet it needs to be one of the most important elements to a succesful MMORPG. This is Rift, with the idea being we raid outdoors sometimes, PUGing is part of that. We need to be able to trust our fellow raiders/players and know the bad apples will be dealt with. I know it was just one lesser but come on, no action at all from Trion? No ban, warning or anything.

Scammers unite! Your free to roam...

A random, anonymous person did or said something that's not nice to some other random, anonymous person? On the internet?!?! Have you notified the local news?

If the leader can't tell the difference between raid chat and a roll that's his fault

It happened and there's nothing you can do about it so get over it.

He ninja'ed an item, plain and simple.

I'd blame the raid leader, but in this case, its pretty clearly a ninja since he equipped it. Treat him like you would any other ninja, toss on ignore and tell his guild leader.

In most respectable guilds, something like that would be an automatic gkick.

So everyone puts him on ignore and now 19 people will never play with him again over a lesser that you can just get on the next raid rift. Everyone tells their guilds to do it too . . . Problem solved.

You would see a whole lot less of this if transfers were not free and unlimited. You would have to be careful of your server reputation.

I haven't read the Rift ToS but naming specific players in forums has been a ban-able offense in every game I cared to post on.

    troll harder...

    [Cataplexis] rolled: 99 (1 - 100) << Correct
    [Raid][Cataplexis]: rolled: 99 (1 - 100) << Incorrect

    See the difference?

To be honest, I've gotten had by this before, by my own guild, because they think its funny. Granted, they are in our guild so they give the item back after a bunch of 'raid leader is a newb' laughing.

I often lead a DRR. Don't let 1 bad apple spoil the bunch. If this happened to me I would:

1- [Raid] Sorry guys, he typed that out and I did not catch it. Not much to do about it now.
2- [50's Chat] Just to let future DRR leaders know, Player <x> typed out his /roll rather than playing fair. I did not catch it, he equiped the loot and ran off. Be weary of this player. Sorry again to the raid for me being a newb.
3- Don't invite that player again.
4- Don't waste another thought on the situation, go enjoy your game.

I have this installed. I'm not sure if I like the idea or not.... But I've been using it conservitivly. If I am in a group with a bad apple, I'll tend to that player and one other player in the group that has a good attitude.
