Default Yet Another Loot Distribution Thread

Take a loot at this picture, http://i.imgur.com/KXWbm.png, notice anything strange?

Yep, all three items are CLERIC TANK items.

    I rest my case.

You mean to tell me randomness happens with random numbers? Holy cow!

All we get are Lifelord Fangs, 2h Warrior Swords, and Tangley staffs. Alsbeth only drops darkling skulls, more mage staffs, and 2h warrior axes. We've seen 1 tank weapon off GS and nothing else. We are plagued with DPS relics, rng is rng.

I'm still betting on (and hoping for) first akylios relic to be for a cleric tank!

Exactly the point of me bringing this topic up, we need less RNG in the loot distribution. At least devise a mechanism that will guarantee one item per calling, or at least per soul. Having all three Cleric TANK items drop is a bit ridiculous.

By the way, we haven't seen a single relic 2H drop yet. We hope Estrode and Grugonim will be more kind to our Warriors.

every server first in HK that has occurred while i've been online(with items posted in 50 chat and all that) has had 2 if not 3 items that were cleric loot.

of course, for most of the early bosses in HK, 6 of the 15 items are cleric loot(with 2 mage items clerics could also conceivably use)

All comes down to what is required. Clerics need different gear to Tank, Heal and Dps so gear needs ot be made for all of those. So Cleric gear makes up a much larger percentage then lets say Mage gear who only really need the one set for Dps since their support specs and heal specs dont require seperate armour. So naturally more cleric stuff is going to drop. This is coming from a mage so loot drops are hard to come by.

I think Itemization is a big issue in general.

I realize this is not the point of this thread but your screenshot highlights another super annoying problem:

Why do items show up twice in the loot window all the time? And to go along with that, why can you not master loot items unless you were the last person to open the corpse? Gets super annoying when the whole raid needs to loot their marks individually and the master looter has to wait until all that ends to start handing out the loot.

    Itemization is bad:

A raid itemization requirements will have, in a generic case:

    - 1 cleric tank
    - 2 warrior tanks
    - 1 rogue tank
    - 4 warrior dps
    - 5 rogue dps
    - 6 mages of any spec
    - 3 cleric dps
    - 4 cleric heals

    That's 26 roles to itemize.

8/26 = 31% of loot needs to be cleric
6/26 = 23% of loot needs to be mages
    6/26 = 23% for warriors
    6/26 = 23% for rogues

    In terms of "roles":

    4/26 = 15% tank gear
4/26 = 15% "heal" gear (mage healers are considered DPS for this breakdown)
    18/26 = 69% DPS gear

    Actual results?

Somewhere along the line of 60% cleric gear
    Somewhere around 50+% tank gear

    HELLO EPIC FAILURE

OUR THIRD CLERIC IS STARTING TO FILL OUT TANK GEAR

OUR 5TH WARRIOR TANK IS STARTING TO GET PIECES

OUR SECOND ROGUE TANK (AND WE DON'T EVEN USE THE FIRST ONE) IS STARTING TO FILL OUT THEIR PIECES

NONE OF OUR DPS HAVE FULL SUITS. Most of our DPS are missing half their gear. Our Mages barely have pieces.

Hey look a boss died, WOW IT'S TWO PIECES OF TANK GEAR AGAIN. GLAD IT'S NOT THREE. WE'RE LUCKY!

(And one of the pieces is a cleric tank item, HOW SURPRISING)

The only epic failure here is your anecdotal evidence from a statistically insignificant number of raids.

Over 120 drops, and consistent with other raiding guilds?

    Yeah, right.

We have been getting a ton of tanking loot, (and the usual cleric loot) in HK.

Seriously, combine cleric heal/dps, this will help with the RNG math

While technically random, it's a fixed match.

If there are 35% cleric items, that does not mean you get 1/4 cleric drops as a truly balanced loot table would offer. It means you get over 1/3.

well one idea is for trion to divide up loot drops from bosses into different sub-lists, so if it drops 2 items or 3 items etc, all the drops can be split into groups based on number of drops in a way that all tank drops in 1 list, dps drops in another just as an example. so 1 boss might always drop a tanking item and a dps item for a rogue, another boss might always drop a dps item for warriors and a drop for mages.

I'm sure there is an equally crappy reason why this drop system would suck compared to the normal one but at least that way you know if that annoying cleric tank ring drops that nobody wants, the other item wont also be a tanking item.
